I'm The Devil - Chapter 223
Chapter 223: Khaos and Lucifer
Lucifer and Khaos stood alone amidst the remnants of the battlefield, the echoes of their past still resonating between them. The defenders had retreated to regroup and tend to their wounds, leaving the two ancient beings to face each other.
“You know, ever since I came back, I made it my life’s mission to find you and stop you from pulling that stunt ever again,” Lucifer said, his voice tinged with a mixture of relief and bitterness. “And now here you are, the amalgamation of Lilith and Fang Hua, but truly Khaos—the Primordial Darkness.”
Khaos’s expression remained unreadable, her eyes dark and enigmatic. “Lilith and Fang Hua were facets of my essence, manifestations of my will. But now, there is only Khaos. I am whole again, and my power is restored.”
Lucifer looked at her, his mind racing with memories, “what you did back then, was that really necessary? Destroying yourself just so you could get rid of the bide my Father placed on us”
Khaos nodded slowly. “I chose to end that forced union by taking my own life. You have to know someone with my kind of power and status would not like to be bound to formalities such as love and you must also remember my life’s goal was to destroy everything your Father created and you were in the way so that’s the only option I could think of at that time”
Lucifer’s gaze softened, a hint of understanding flickering in his eyes. “I suppose, in a way, I can’t fault you for that. Our union was never of our own choosing, and the weight of that destiny was suffocating.”
Khaos inclined her head slightly, acknowledging his words. “Indeed, it was a fate neither of us desired. But now, here we stand, free from those shackles. And yet, our paths have crossed once more.”
Lucifer sighed, a mixture of emotions swirling within him. “I never thought I’d see you again, Khaos. And certainly not in this way. I mean Fang Hua and Lilith, what’s going to happen to them now, are they gone completely or are there in you somewhere?”
Khaos regarded Lucifer with a solemn expression, her gaze piercing yet contemplative. “Lilith and Fang Hua are no more, as separate entities, but their essence lives on within me,” she explained. “When I chose to end my existence as Lilith and Fang Hua, I merged their essences with mine, reclaiming the aspects of myself that had been fragmented.”
She paused, a faint glimmer of melancholy crossing her features. “Their memories, their experiences, their emotions—they are all a part of me now. That is why I was compelled to intervene in the battle against the Outer Beings. Lilith’s compassion and Fang Hua’s determination, they guided me in ways I hadn’t anticipated.”
Khaos paused, letting her words sink in before turning her gaze back to Lucifer. “You know, you could have taken down the possessed Azazel on your own. Why did you hold back?” she asked, her voice calm but probing.
Khaos knew that Lucifer was holding back during his confrontation with Azazel. The Lucifer she knew could be able to obliterate Azazel and possessed Azazel with just a snap of his fingers, the same goes for Michael.
But she knows Michael to be a warrior and he would not resort using the easy methods as that would spoil all of the fun, but the same could not be said for Lucifer who would just end things quickly.
That’s what she wants to figure out, why risk his life when he could just end it.
Lucifer took a deep breath, considering Khaos’s question. The memories of the battle, intertwined with his suspicions and strategies, flashed before his eyes.
“It wasn’t just about my power,” he began slowly, his voice steady but laced with an undercurrent of tension. “When I faced Azazel, I could feel something… off. His strength was overwhelming, yes, but there was a presence, a lingering essence that I couldn’t quite place. Something familiar yet elusive.”
Khaos remained silent, her expression inscrutable as she listened intently.
“I suspected it was you,” Lucifer continued. “Or rather, I suspected that Lilith, as she was then, had more to her than met the eye. Your essence, your power, it was faint but undeniable. I didn’t know what had happened to you, not fully. I knew Lilith was bound to you in some way, but I couldn’t be certain of the extent.”
He paused, running a hand through his hair, the frustration of those moments still palpable. “I held back because I needed to draw you out. I needed to see if my suspicions were correct. If Lilith was truly Khaos, then confronting Azazel directly wouldn’t have just been about defeating him. It would have been about revealing you, forcing you to manifest.”
Khaos’s eyes narrowed slightly, but she remained silent, allowing Lucifer to continue.
“But I didn’t know about Fang Hua,” he admitted. “I had no idea that she was also a part of you. I only knew that there was a powerful force within Lilith that I couldn’t fully comprehend. So, I chose to wait. To observe. To see how the battle would unfold. And when you finally intervened, when you revealed yourself as Khaos, everything clicked into place.”
Lucifer’s gaze met Khaos’s, a mixture of relief and lingering tension in his eyes. “It wasn’t just a gamble. It was a calculated risk. One that relied on the hope that you, or at least a part of you, would act to preserve some semblance of balance.”
Khaos’s expression softened slightly, a flicker of understanding in her dark eyes. “And you were right,” she said quietly. “Lilith’s compassion, Fang Hua’s determination, they are all aspects of me now. They drove me to intervene, to stop the Outer Beings and Azazel. They guided my actions in ways I hadn’t anticipated.”
Lucifer allowed himself a moment of quiet reflection, absorbing Khaos’s words. The battlefield, though silent now, seemed to pulse with the weight of their history and the uncertainty of their future.
“So, what’s next for you, Khaos?” Lucifer asked, his voice steady but curious. “Do you plan to return to the Sea of Chaos, to dwell in the primordial darkness from which you came? Or… will you stay here, at my side, as my first wife once more?”
Khaos’s eyes flickered with a myriad of emotions—surprise, contemplation, and a hint of something deeper, perhaps a trace of the compassion and determination inherited from Lilith and Fang Hua. She took a moment before responding, her voice measured and thoughtful.
“The Sea of Chaos was not my origin,” she began. “It was a prison, created by your Father to contain me, to bind my essence and limit my power. But over time, it became something more—a place where I could contemplate and understand the nature of my existence, a place that became, in a twisted way, my home.”
Lucifer watched her intently, absorbing the gravity of her words. “So, do you plan to return there?”
Khaos shook her head slowly. “No. The world we knew has changed, and so have I. The merging of Lilith and Fang Hua within me has altered my perspective. This world, for all its flaws and chaos, is now intertwined with my essence. I feel a responsibility, a need to protect it.”

She glanced around at the remnants of the battlefield, the fallen warriors and the scarred earth telling the tale of a fierce and costly fight. “This world is on the brink of destruction, besieged by forces that seek to destroy this world, everything your Father created just like I once did but this time, they would also try to destroy me with them which js something i cannot allow. I see what your Father was talking about those years when he said there will be a storm coming in the future, now it is upon us and there is only us standing in the front line against them”
Lucifer nodded slowly, understanding the gravity of her words. “So you intend to stay.”
Khaos’s gaze met his, steady and unwavering. “Yes. I will stay and fight. The forces arrayed against us are formidable, and my power is needed here. As for standing by your side…” She paused, a faint smile touching her lips. “Our past is complex, to say the least. But we share a common goal now. An even bigger and determined threat that I was, and this time your Father can not use his underhand means to get out of it, so He is going to need all of the strength he can gather to protect his creation and that includes me who just wants to survive”
Lucifer felt a strange sense of relief at her words. The idea of having Khaos, in her full, restored power, as an ally rather than an adversary, brought a sense of hope amidst the chaos. “Then we face this together,” he said firmly. “Not as enemies, but as partners.”
Khaos nodded. “Partners. Allies. Whatever it takes to preserve this world and stand against the darkness.”
The two of them just stood there looking at the horizon as they prepped for yet another chapter in their lives.
