I'm The Devil - Chapter 264
Chapter 264: Return 2
God Plane
In the opulent confines of Lucifer’s personal quarters within Devil’s Peak, the room exuded an aura of serene intimacy. The dimly lit space, adorned with luxurious fabrics and elegant furnishings, held a soft glow that highlighted the restful forms of its occupants. Lucifer lay on the grand bed, his silhouette partially obscured by the cascading drapes. Beside him, Medusa reclined in her full splendor, her serpentine locks spread across the silk sheets like a living tapestry.
As the tranquility of the moment enveloped them, a subtle shift in the ambient energy caused Lucifer’s eyes to flutter open. His gaze, sharp and perceptive, took in the room’s familiar grandeur as he attuned himself to the delicate disturbance he had sensed. A faint but distinct fluctuation in the world’s energies, like a ripple across a still pond, signaled a significant event unfolding on the mortal plane.
Lucifer’s expression shifted from the placid calm of a moment ago to a contemplative frown. “So, they’ve decided to emerge now, huh?” he murmured to himself, a hint of amusement threading through his voice. “They are certainly bold to make their move at this time.”
Medusa, sensing the change in his demeanor, stirred beside him. Her eyes, now fully open, met his with a mixture of curiosity and concern. “Where are you going?” she asked softly, her voice a gentle echo in the otherwise still room.
Lucifer, already rising from the bed with an effortless grace, glanced back at her. “It appears there’s a shift happening on the mortal plane,” he explained, his tone steady but tinged with intrigue. “I need to see it for myself. I’ll be gone only briefly, but I’ll return as though I never left.”
He approached her, his movements fluid and purposeful. Leaning down, Lucifer placed a tender kiss on her cheek, a gesture filled with both affection and reassurance. “Rest easy, my dear,” he whispered, his lips brushing against her skin with a soft caress. “I’ll be back soon.”
With that, Lucifer straightened, his form exuding a calm authority as he prepared to leave. Medusa watched him, her gaze following his every movement with a mixture of admiration and concern. She knew well the gravity of his presence and the weight of his decisions.
Lucifer stepped out of the room, his figure dissolving into the shadows of the corridor before the door closed behind him. The transition from the opulent stillness of his chambers to the bustling energy of the mortal realm would be swift, a testament to his formidable power and unwavering control.
As the door clicked shut, Medusa remained in the quiet of the room, her thoughts lingering on Lucifer’s departure. The calm returned to the space, but it was now imbued with a sense of anticipation, as if the air itself was holding its breath for his return.
Earth
In the same place on the mortal plane where the disturbance had rippled through, two distinct portals began to materialize, each unfolding with its own unique energy. The air shimmered with a palpable tension as the first portal emerged, its edges crackling with dark, potent magic. From within this swirling vortex, a figure stepped forth with a commanding presence.
Cain, the vampire progenitor, emerged from the depths of the portal, his intense red eyes scanning the surroundings with a mixture of curiosity and authority. His arrival was followed by a procession of his vampire progeny, each of them emanating an aura of formidable strength and ancient power. The vampires moved with a predatory grace, their forms cloaked in shadows that seemed to whisper of the dark realms from which they came.
Cain’s gaze swept over his progeny, nodding with approval at their readiness. “We’ve been dormant for too long,” he declared in a voice that carried the weight of centuries. “It is time to reclaim our place in the world. Let us see what has changed and what opportunities await us.”
As the vampires settled into their new surroundings, the second portal began to unfurl, its appearance starkly contrasting the dark energy of Cain’s arrival. This portal glowed with a radiant light, its edges shimmering with celestial energy. From it, a group of Nephilim emerged, their presence exuding an aura of divine authority and ancient wisdom.
Celeste, the radiant leader of the Nephilim, stepped through first, her luminous figure commanding attention. She was followed by Lord Aurelius, his regal bearing reflecting his status as the leader of their faction and the son of Semjaza. The rest of the Nephilim followed, their expressions a mix of anticipation and resolve.
Celeste’s eyes swept over the landscape, taking in the changes since their departure.
Celeste’s face tightened into a frown as she noticed Cain standing not far from them, flanked by her best friend Mabel. Mabel’s eyes sparkled with mischief, and she wore a broad grin as she approached Celeste.
“Miss me?” Mabel asked, her voice carrying a playful tone. She extended her arms, clearly intending to give Celeste a warm embrace. “Because I certainly missed you, whether you missed me or not.”
Celeste returned Mabel’s hug, holding onto her for a moment before pulling back to examine her friend with a mixture of astonishment and concern. “I never thought I’d see you again, Mabel,” she said, her voice tinged with disbelief. “The last time I saw you, you were still human. Yet here you are, not only alive but a vampire—strong and formidable, from the looks of it. How did this happen?”
“Well, he did,” Mabel replied with a smile. “He offered me a gift and immortality in exchange for my allegiance. And you know me—I’ve always dreamed of wielding the kind of power you possess, no matter the cost.”
Celeste’s gaze shifted to Cain, who remained aloof, his eyes closed in deep contemplation. No one could discern what occupied his thoughts.
Before Lord Aurelius and Seraphina could address Cain and his progenies, an overwhelming aura enveloped the area. The sheer pressure of it forced everyone present to their knees, their breaths becoming labored under its crushing weight.
“What is happening?” Celeste managed to ask, her voice strained.
Seraphina, gritting her teeth as she struggled against the oppressive force, muttered, “I knew this was a bad idea. We should have stayed in the realm.”
Despite the chaos around him, Cain remained unnervingly calm. He had encountered similar auras before, though this one was far more potent than anything he had experienced. The palpable force was formidable, but Cain’s resolve remained steady. He knew that as long as he kept his actions in check and refrained from provoking this power, there was no need for panic.
“Oh, what do we have here?”
