54: He Won!!???

54: He Won!!???

Elowen sat quietly, her eyes moving between her daughters.

The soft crackling of the fireplace was the only sound for a moment.

“An SSS-level power…” she said slowly.

“That’s more than just rare.” “It was wild,” Evelyn said, shaking her head.

“At first, we thought something went wrong.

When Ethan touched the crystal, it didn’t light up like it did for everyone else.” “It actually went dark,” Everly added.

“Like someone switched it off.

Everyone just stared, completely confused.” “But then,” Evelyn leaned forward, “there was this burst.

It wasn’t just light-it felt like something heavy just dropped into the room.

Like a wave hitting us.” “A throne showed up,” Everly said.

“Right in front of Ethan.

Like it belonged to him.” Elowen blinked.

“A throne?” “Yeah,” Everly nodded.

“Not a normal one either.

It looked ancient but not worn out.

Like it was made from gold and shadows, glowing just a little.

It didn’t belong in a high school gym, that’s for sure.” “Everyone freaked out,” Evelyn said.

“One of the examiners dropped his notes and started mumbling something about a divine sign or something.” “That’s when Aunt Lilith came in,” Everly said.

“Just showed up out of nowhere, calm as ever.” “She didn’t say much,” Evelyn added.

“But she floated in and put up a dome around everyone.

To protect us, I think.” “Even then, all the teachers and staff were still staring at Ethan,” Everly said.

“They kept whispering weird things under their breath.” “Then… everyone just stopped,” Evelyn said.

“Like time froze or something.

They all went quiet.

Just standing there, staring.” “And then it all disappeared,” Everly said.

“Disappeared?” Elowen raised an eyebrow.

“Yeah,” Everly nodded.

“The throne vanished.

The light faded.

And just like that… everything looked normal again.

Like none of it ever happened.” Evelyn looked serious now.

“That’s when Aunt Lilith told everyone Ethan awakened an S-Rank power called Illusory Manifestation.

Said it was illusion-based, kind of like hers.” “But we know that wasn’t just an illusion,” Everly said.

“We felt it.

We saw it.

No one else remembers.

Not even the other students.” “I think Aunt Lilith did something,” Evelyn said.

“Changed their memories.

Maybe swapped the crystal too.

Whatever it was, she covered it up.” Elowen didn’t respond right away.

She stared at the fire, her fingers gently tapping the side of the couch.

Then she nodded.

“That sounds like her.” “She probably had a good reason,” Everly said.

“We trust her.” “Yeah,” Evelyn agreed.

“She wouldn’t do all that unless it was really important.” Elowen finally looked back at them.

“I’ll talk to her about it tomorrow.

But for tonight… I want to hear how you two are doing.” The twins smiled at that.

“We’re okay, really,” Evelyn said.

“It’s been a lot, but we’re handling it.” “Well…” Everly grinned.

“Something else did happen after the ceremony.” Elowen tilted her head.

“What now?” “Lucas challenged Ethan,” Evelyn said with a sigh.

“He was mad no one noticed his so-called ‘amazing’ awakening.” “He totally lost it,” Everly added.

“Said Ethan was acting all high and mighty, and he didn’t like how close we were to him.

Guess it pushed him over the edge.” “Like watching someone have a meltdown,” Evelyn said.

“Honestly, it was kind of sad.” “But Ethan didn’t even blink,” Everly said.

“He just accepted the challenge like it was no big deal.” Elowen looked surprised.

“He accepted?” “Yeah,” Evelyn nodded.

“Everyone was shocked.

Lucas was so smug, acting like he’d already won.” “We were surprised, too,” Everly added.

“Ethan didn’t need to prove anything.

We tried calling him afterward to talk him out of it.” “But he never answered,” Evelyn said.

“We figured he was training or something, so we left him alone.” And he was training… but not just that.

While they were worried, Ethan was also dealing with something else entirely-a woman who had never explored her natural instincts, even though her whole race was known for it.

Things got intense, and he didn’t have the time-or energy-to check his holo phone.

“Anyway,” Evelyn went on, “three days passed, and we went back to class.

People were still talking about the challenge.” “Some even tried asking Ethan about it,” Everly said.

“But he ignored them.” “Then our teacher came in,” Evelyn continued.

“Said we needed to get ready for the college exams.” “He gave us all the info,” Everly said.

“Test format, the schedule, what we’d be tested on.

All of it.” “For the final challenge,” Evelyn said, “Mr.

Halden said he wasn’t sure, but he guessed it might be in the forbidden zone again.” “Same place as the last two years,” Everly added.

“He didn’t confirm it, but he sounded pretty sure.” Elowen nodded slowly.

“Makes sense.

It’s big and dangerous-perfect for testing students in real combat.” “Right after that,” Everly said, “the teacher dismissed the class so people could get ready for the fight between Ethan and Lucas.” “Yeah, everyone was excited because Ethan was at the top of the class forever, and someone had finally challenged him, but not many people thought Ethan would win.

This is because illusion-based superpowers are never known for their early stage.

Instead, they show their true strength in the later stages.

So, the chances of him winning were slim, but to our shock, Ethan won.”Evelyn said in a happy tone.

“He won!” Elowen repeated, still trying to wrap her head around it.

“Yes!

He won,” the twins said together, grinning from ear to ear.

“But… how?

How did he win?” Everly chuckled, shaking her head.

“That’s the best part.

He didn’t even lift a finger after the mist.” “Yeah,” Evelyn added with a laugh.

“The only thing Ethan did was create some fog at the start.

After that, it turned into something between a comedy show and a sad play.” Elowen looked confused.

“Comedic and sad?

What do you mean?” “Well,” Everly began, trying not to laugh again, “Lucas was too confident.

He let the mist fill the arena, thinking he had the upper hand.

But at that moment, he used his gravity to clear the fog.

He opened his mind for just a second.” “And that was all Ethan needed,” Evelyn continued.

“He slipped in an illusion so strong, Lucas didn’t even know he was trapped.” Elowen raised an eyebrow.
