69: The Hidden Truth 69: The Hidden Truth It was supposed to be a peaceful life.

Just blend in.

Stay hidden.

No one had expected that the arrival of one boy-just one human boy-would shake everything.

Seraphina sat on the edge of her bed, the sheets still wrapped around her, but her mind was far away now.

Her fingers lightly touched the glowing crest on her lower belly, the mark pulsing softly.

She closed her eyes.

And remembered.

It was a rainy evening when he first came.

She remembered it clearly because it was the first time she’d seen her mother-Lilith Nocturne-look… unsure.

He stood in the doorway, clutching a small bag.

He was quiet, his shoulders tense, eyes wary.

He was just a kid who’d been through more than he should have.

Lost parents.

No relatives.

Sent to the orphanage.

Lilith had found him, and due to the special connection she got, she decided to adopt him, which would have never happened as everyone in the household was a female, and having a male was enough to disrupt the relationship she had built with her daughters.

Maybe fate brought him to them, but they did not care as all their attention was on the little child.

The three sisters were all curious and baffled at the sudden change as they did not think Lilith, the succubus queen, would adopt a human child.

“A human?” Isabella had whispered.

Liliana crossed her arms.

“This… feels off.” And Elowen-who had come to visit that day-just stared, her sharp green eyes studying him like he was a puzzle piece that didn’t belong.

But then Ethan looked up.

Just for a second.

Those dark eyes, full of caution and sadness, met Seraphina’s.

And everything in her heart twisted.

He wasn’t like the others.

He wasn’t even like the ones they used to disdain, manipulate, or toy with.

He was just… pure.

Scared.

But still holding it together.

It was Isabella who said what they were all thinking.

“He’s cute.” That’s when everything began.

They made room for him.

One room turned into a shared breakfast.

One morning, it turned into walking him to school.

He was so shy at first-always saying “thank you” too softly, always trying not to take up space.

It made him easy to tease.

And for girls like them, powerful women born from bloodlines that ruled empires and dark realms… Ethan was a fresh breeze.

Liliana once said it best.

“He’s like a blanket straight from the dryer.

Warm.

Soft.

And somehow makes you feel safe just by existing.” At first, they fought just to sit next to him on the couch.

Then came the bedtime cuddles.

One night, with his head on Seraphina’s lap.

The next, with Isabella, curled around him like a blanket.

Even Lilith couldn’t resist.

She pretended she was doing it for his protection.

“He might get nightmares,” she said.

He never did.

But not everyone was happy.

The social circles that Lilith and the others were part of-the hidden world full of ancient bloodlines and supernatural families-began to notice.

They asked questions.

Why is there a human boy in your home?

Is he your pet?

A servant?

Or worse… a threat?

Some thought it was a joke.

Some thought it was dangerous.

And one faction in particular-one of the old ones, cold and proud-decided he was a problem that needed to be erased.

They made the first move.

An ambush.

Sloppy.

Loud.

They never even got close to Ethan.

Because Lilith heard about it the moment the plan was whispered.

And she lost it.

She didn’t send a warning.

She didn’t give them a chance.

She flew to the city where the faction was based and wiped it off the map.

One night.

That’s all it took.

The buildings were gone.

The ground split.

Fires raged, but no human news outlet covered it.

Because the city was already hidden from the human world.

A fortress masked by illusion.

Now, it was just ash.

That day, everyone remembered who she was.

The Succubus Queen.

Lilith Nocturne.

Unforgiving.

Protective.

And more powerful than anyone had dared to believe.

After that, things changed.

Permanently.

Lilith called a meeting.

Just the four of them-herself and her daughters.

They sat around the dining table, Ethan asleep upstairs.

That was when they made the choice.

“We protect him,” Lilith said.

“No matter what.

We give him a safe and enjoyable life.” “But if others find out what we are-” Liliana started.

“They won’t,” Seraphina cut in.

And they didn’t.

They created new identities.

Carefully crafted lives that revolved around Ethan, not the other way around.

Lilith became a world-famous singer.

An actress.

She joined the Superpower Association under a different title.

Public.

Beloved.

But always close.

Seraphina built Nocturne Enterprises from the ground up, becoming CEO at barely twenty.

But every part of the company was designed to give Ethan a safety net: college opportunities, resources, private funding, and backup plans.

Liliana joined the military.

Rose through the ranks.

And made sure that if Ethan ever needed protection, he’d get it-on the battlefield or in the streets.

Isabella went underground, formed networks, and created a silent web of eyes and ears that stretched across the country.

No one could touch Ethan without her knowledge.

They didn’t just take roles.

They built a world around him.

Because they couldn’t risk the truth being known-not yet.

Until he reached Diamond rank.

Or even the Lord rank.

Only then, they agreed, would he be strong enough to handle the truth.

Strong enough to survive the weight of what this world really was.

Seraphina opened her eyes again.

Her fingers still rested over the mark on her skin.

It was glowing faintly now.

Fading, but not gone.

Never gone.

She let out a long breath and looked over at Lilith, who was still sitting nearby, watching her quietly.

“You okay?” Lilith asked softly.

“No,” Seraphina admitted.

“But I will be.” Lilith nodded.

“We were gonna tell him either way, but it looks like we will have to tell him about us earlier than I would like.” Seraphina looked out the window.

The morning had fully arrived now.

The sky was bright.

Peaceful.

But everything around them will change.
