72: The Deal 72: The Deal Mr.

Halden looked up from his tablet, then stood and tapped the display screen behind him.

A familiar map appeared-Earth, with certain regions marked in red, blue, and gray.

“Alright.

Since everyone’s been buzzing about it for days now,” he said casually, “let’s talk about the mock exams and how they’ll work this year.” The class didn’t go silent like it was some big reveal.

They already knew.

But they still leaned in a little, waiting for details.

“You’ve all heard the basics.

The location’s confirmed.

We’ll be using one of the outer layers of a real forbidden zone.” Some students murmured, not out of shock-but more out of nerves.

“Yeah, the same one from last year,” Mr.

Halden added.

“The one with decent terrain and manageable low-level beasts.” He paused and scanned the room.

“And before anyone asks, yes, it’s safe enough.

The danger’s controlled.

You’re not getting thrown into the deep end.” Someone near the back raised a hand lazily.

“But isn’t the zone still under the control of a beast lord or something?” “Correct,” Mr.

Halden said with a nod.

“The lord of that zone has had a standing deal with the Superpower Association for years.

I’ll explain why that matters.” He stepped away from his desk, arms crossed casually.

His tone stayed calm, as if he were telling a story, not teaching a lesson.

“You’ve all grown up in this world of superpowers.

It feels normal now-cities filled with heroes, powered guardians, and high-level tech blended into our daily lives.” He gestured toward the screen.

“But a few hundred years ago, things were different.” The image zoomed out, showing a timeline of destruction-cities burning, skies darkened, beasts flooding through cracked roads.

“The world we know almost ended.

Why?

Because of them-beasts.” A new series of images showed massive mutated creatures tearing through urban areas.

Some looked like giant wolves with crystalline fur.

Others were serpentine beasts wrapped in fire.

Every one of them looked terrifying.

“These monsters weren’t always like this,” Mr.

Halden said.

“They were normal animals.

Birds.

Bears.

Fish.

But everything changed when energy particles began falling from the sky-particles we now call Etherion.” A small glowing particle spun on the screen-pale blue and gold.

“These particles infected the entire planet.

It sank into the oceans, the forests, and the atmosphere.

Some animals resisted it.

Others…

adapted.” He changed the slide again.

This time, a beast was shown evolving, its body shifting, growing, fangs lengthening, muscles bulging.

“They grew stronger.

Bigger.

Smarter.

Some developed elemental powers.

Some became immune to weapons.

And unlike us, their reproduction rate stayed the same.” He paused for effect.

“So imagine what happens when a rabbit becomes ten times faster, immune to bullets, and can reproduce every two weeks.” The room stayed quiet.

“You get overpopulation,” a student muttered.

Mr.

Halden smiled slightly.

“Exactly.

And what happens after that?” “Beast tides,” Evelyn said softly.

He nodded.

“Yes, beast tides are the main concern.

As these beasts grew, so did their need for resources, and even though the planet grew along when the particles fell, it was still not enough, so they saw the lands and resources that humans had and wanted them for themselves.

So, they started beast tides whenever there was something that they needed.

They swept across the world.

Cities fell.

More than half of humanity was wiped out.

Countries collapsed.

Entire continents lost communication.

It was chaos.” A few students shifted in their seats, visibly uncomfortable with how real this was getting.

Mr.

Halden cleared his throat.

“Now, I know most of you have heard this story before.

Some of you probably memorized it back in middle school.” A few students nodded.

A couple even rolled their eyes.

“But,” he continued, “this history isn’t something we repeat for fun.

It’s drilled into every academy, every year, for a reason.

Because this is the world we live in now.

The line between survival and extinction wasn’t drawn that long ago.

And if we forget that, we get sloppy.” He let that settle for a moment before continuing.

“And just when we were on the brink of extinction… superpower users awakened.” The screen flashed again-this time showing glowing silhouettes of humans standing against giant beasts.

“No one knows exactly why or how.

Some say it was evolution.

Some say divine intervention.

But it started with a few-and spread fast.

Powers emerged.

Strength.

Flight.

Telepathy.

Flame control.

Ice manipulation.

Healing.” He gestured behind him again.

“Humans started fighting back.

And slowly, painfully, we took the world back.” The screen showed countries rebuilding.

New cities are rising.

Defensive walls.

Training centers.

“Now, humans control 80% of the Earth.” A green overlay marked the majority of the planet.

“But the beasts weren’t wiped out.

Not all of them.” He pointed at the red zones.

“Fifteen percent of the planet is still in beast hands.

We call them Forbidden Zones.” The image zoomed in on a massive jungle covered in mist.

Strange cries echoed in the background, sent through the speakers.

“These zones are ruled by sentient beasts-monsters who not only evolved but gained intelligence, strategy, and emotions.

They’re not mindless anymore.” A few students looked around nervously.

“They formed territories.

Claimed lands.

Built nests and domains.

And they protect them like kings protect kingdoms.” Mr.

Halden paused.

“Entering the core of one of these zones is a death sentence unless you’re a Lord Rank user or higher.” One student raised a hand.

“Then why are we allowed in at all?” He smiled.

“Because not all beasts are hostile.

Some of them understand balance.

Some want peace-or at least stability.

One of those beasts rules the zone we’ll be entering.” The map shifted again, showing a lush forest surrounded by barriers and surveillance drones.

“This particular zone has a problem-overpopulation.

Its beasts reproduce fast, and many low-tier ones become unstable and aggressive from overcrowding.” “So we help them by killing off the weak ones?” another student asked.

Mr.

Halden nodded slowly.

“More or less.

In exchange for reducing the pressure, the beast king of that zone, who is a powerful one that was one of the first ones to gain sentient beasts in history, allows us to run tests and training there.” “And in return?” CREATORS’ THOUGHTS Anime_timez24 Your gift is the motivation for my creation.
