93: Then I’m Going To Be The Opposite 93: Then I’m Going To Be The Opposite The Librarian looked at Ethan and said calmly, “Now that you’ve been chosen, the Vault is ready to open up for you.

Not just the surface stuff-everything.

The deeper layers.

The real parts he left behind.

That’s what your inheritance really is.” Ethan didn’t say anything right away.

He just let out a slow breath.

The floating book nudged his cheek again, like a pet wanting attention.

He gave it a flat look.

“You’re enjoying this too much.” The book spun lazily in the air, its glowing script pulsing like it was grinning.

The others stayed silent.

Elowen finally broke the quiet.

“This bloodline… if it’s so powerful, why aren’t there more records of it?” The Librarian answered calmly, “Because they were erased, not lost, not forgotten, removed.

On purpose.” Lilith narrowed her eyes.

“Why?” “Because some truths are too dangerous,” the Librarian said.

“Too tempting, and too loud.” Ethan raised an eyebrow.

“Loud?” “If certain names are spoken, if certain truths are shared, they echo.

Across time.

Across space.

Some things were erased not to protect you from them, but to protect the world from you.” That answer settled over them like a thick cloud.

But Ethan just nodded once.

He didn’t need to understand it all right now.

He knew enough.

He turned slightly, looking back at the others.

Lilith, Elowen, Seraphina, Isabella, Liliana, and the twins.

Their expressions weren’t confused anymore.

Just quiet.

Heavy.

Full of new understanding.

The Vault shimmered once more.

Then everything around them began to dim-not in danger, but in finality.

The energy shifted.

The light began to retreat back into the shelves, the symbols slowed their dancing, and the air grew still.

Then, in one smooth blink-like the end of a long dream-they were standing back inside the study.

The marble floor.

The bookshelf.

The barrier that Lilith had sealed was gone.

It was quiet.

But the weight hadn’t left.

Seraphina blinked slowly.

“We’re back.” Ethan looked around.

The book was still with him, floating calmly at his side.

The Librarian was gone.

But her words hadn’t faded.

No one spoke for a moment.

Then Isabella let out a breath.

“Well… that was insane.” Liliana nodded.

“And here I thought this would be a normal explanation.” Elowen folded her arms, her tone quiet but clear.

“No wonder no one talks about this bloodline.” Lilith gave a small nod.

“It’s not just forgotten.

It’s hidden-on purpose.” She looked at Ethan, her expression a little sharper now.

“There are people out there,” she said.

“Cults.

Whole groups who still worship the Restarter like some kind of god.” Ethan frowned.

“They don’t think he was a monster?” he asked.

“They think he was right,” Lilith said.

“That this universe should’ve been shaped by his hands.” She paused, then added, “If they even hear a rumor that someone new has his bloodline…” “They’ll come,” Elowen finished softly.

“Not to worship you.” Lilith nodded again.

“To use you.

Or worse.” Her voice trailed off.

But the threat hung in the air.

Seraphina’s expression hardened.

“Then we don’t tell anyone.” Lilith shook her head.

“No.

That’s not always possible.” The others looked at her.

Lilith sighed.

“This bloodline… it won’t stay hidden forever.

If someone powerful enough sees Ethan use it, especially during a real battle, it’ll reveal itself.” She glanced at Elowen, then back at the group.

“So here’s the rule.

Don’t talk about it if you can help it.

But if something forces your hand?

If you have to use it…” She looked at Ethan.

“Then use it.

Don’t hold back.

We’ll deal with the fallout.

I’ll take care of whatever comes.” The way she said it-firm, calm, cold-left no room for argument.

She wasn’t just saying it.

She meant it.

Seraphina looked between the others.

“She’s right.

If we hide it too much, Ethan could end up dead before anyone even knows why.” Evelyn spoke up softly.

“But… if we’re with him, no one should get close enough to threaten that, right?” Everly smiled faintly.

“Exactly.” Liliana stretched her arms.

“Then it’s settled.

We don’t talk unless we need to.

But if we do… we make sure Ethan walks away standing.” Elowen gave a slow nod.

“This isn’t just about secrecy anymore.

It’s about survival.” Isabella looked at Ethan.

“And what about you?” He blinked.

“Me?” “Yeah.

You’re the one with the freaky bloodline.

You just found out you’re basically the heir to a god who reset the world.

What are you thinking?” Ethan paused.

Then said simply, “That I don’t want to end up like him.” Lilith raised an eyebrow.

“I mean it,” Ethan added.

“If this bloodline came from someone like that…

someone who thought everything belonged to him, someone who couldn’t be stopped…” He looked down at his hand, curling it once.

“Then I’m going to be the opposite.” He looked up again, eyes calm now.

“I’m not here to rule anything,” he said.

“I don’t want to control the universe like the last guy.

I just want to use this power to protect the people I care about.” He gave a small smile.

“And if I get to enjoy the fun parts too… that’s just a bonus.” There was a short pause.

He looked up again, his voice steady.

“I’m not trying to rule anything.

I’m not like him.

I just want to use this bloodline to protect the people I care about.” He exhaled.

“That’s all I need.” A beat of silence followed.

Then Seraphina gave a small nod.

“That sounds more like you.” Lilith smiled faintly, but there was steel behind it.

“Just make sure you mean it.

I’ve gone to war with beings that thought they were untouchable.

Bloodline or not, power doesn’t impress me-how you use it does.” Elowen added without missing a beat, “And if that power ever turns on us… We’ll stop you.

No hesitation.” Ethan nodded once, calm.

“You won’t have to.” The air stayed quiet, but it was a different kind of quiet now.

Not tension.

Understanding.

This is not because they weren’t afraid of the bloodline.

Also not because it was harmless, but because they trusted the one holding it.

And for the first time since they stepped into the Vault, the weight in the air shifted.

It wasn’t testing anymore.

It was welcoming.
