Chapter 193: A Gate…Exploded…?
“Boom. That was all I heard come from the mutated Gate when I arrived.”
Reports similar to the one above were given to the Leaders of Countries all over the world.
Shortly after, seven figures emerged from the Apocalypse Gate known as Oblivion’s Threshold. Six of them were Russian S-Rank Hunters, whereas the last one was an S-Rank Hunter from Japan—an enchanting violet-haired woman ranked in the Top 60 among S-Rank Hunters.
There was… no one else.
And after inquiring from the S-Rank Hunters who escaped the now-collapsed Gate, the World Leaders all received the exact same answer.
“First, there was a flash of light. Then, silence. Following the silence, there was whiteness, like a blank piece of paper. The Oblivion Acolyte was no more. The Oblivion Titan Lords were no more. The Oblivion Titans were no more.”
After reiterating what he had just heard from those who arrived earlier than he did, the Mage Lord’s expression turned unreadable. Those around him—all coming from different regions of the world—became nervous just standing in his presence. Yet, none of them dared to even so much as breathe without his permission.
Even if they were S-Rank Hunters as well, none of them wished to get on the bad side of one of the Top 10. All of whom were Calamity-level Hunters said to be capable of destroying the world if left uninhibited.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the Mage Lord spoke up again, saying, “This event… Are you sure there was no one else involved? None of the other World-class Hunters?”
This was also what the Hunters in the Top 10 were termed. World-class. This was both a fermentation of their high statuses and a… warning. A warning to the World Leaders that jointly governed them.
In a way, World-class Hunters lived exempt from the rules of the world. And they managed their actions through each other. They kept each other in check, making sure that no other got ahead of themselves.
As for the World-class Hunter Mage Lord’s question, one of the S-Rank Hunters who arrived from Thailand replied, “Sir Mage Lord, all the reports match. There was no one else present inside the Gate. Even the workers and government officials on the island said the exact same thing. The only ones to have entered Oblivion’s Threshold in the last hour were Viola Voidweaver, Vera Stromboli, and the five S-Rank Russian Hunters part of her ‘Green Dragon’ Hunter Party.”
The Mage Lord deeply looked at the Thailand S-Rank Hunter. His stare caused the Thailand Hunter to uncontrollably shiver. Luckily, after a couple of seconds of this, the World-class Hunter turned away from him and said, “Very well, then. I’ll just have to verify this information for myself.”
Planning to do just that, he conjured an extremely bright tunnel of blue light that phased him up and into an unknown space. When he reappeared using the same method, he found himself standing before Vera and the other Russian S-Rank Hunters.
When they saw him appear, their complexions lost a lot of their color. Their eyes also became shaky, not because they had anything to hide, but simply because the Mage Lord was just that damn scary.
To Russians, the Mage Lord was both a universal icon and an existence one was supposed to revere. Even if you were lucky enough to awaken as an S-Rank Hunter, just one word from him was enough to determine your fate,
If at all possible, they had hoped to have little to no interaction with the monster that was the Mage Lord.
And yet here they were… jumping into the maw of the beast…
“Sir Mage Lord, I—”
“Quiet, Vera.” The Mage Lord calmly ordered, yet his calmness told far more of his terrifying nature than anger ever could have.
Vera immediately shut her trap. She tilted her head down and stared at the rubble beneath her. Rubble that had appeared when, for the first time in history, a Gate… exploded.
The Mage Lord’s petrifying stare flipped between all S-Rank Hunters of the Green Dragon Hunter Party. Then, with a cold, non-negotiable voice, he demanded the truth from them.
The answer he received was the exact same as the one reported to him… Not a single discrepancy…
‘They wouldn’t dare lie to me, so what actually happened here? How could a mutated Apocalypse Gate just explode…? Viola Voidweaver; perhaps she knows something.’
However, just as this thought passed his mind, the Mage Lord recalled a particular Japanese man who had imprinted himself in his memories.
‘You all are the Top 10 strongest Hunters in the world, the best of the best,’ the figure said to a group of ten varying-sized shadows centered around a moonlit table. ‘Do not waste what the universe has given to you. Do not mess with Japan. If you do… I don’t care how powerful you believe you are. You’re all the same in my eyes—from the weakest of F-Rank Hunters to the strongest of S-Rank Hunters. Remember what I’ve told you here today. If you ever happen to forget, then do keep in mind that the world beyond this life of yours does not discriminate.’
The laid-back words of that man still rang vividly in the back of the Mage Lord’s mind. Yet, even though his disposition was nonchalant, the Mage Lord could tell by those striking blue eyes that the man who stood above them all was completely serious.
“I guess the matter ends here today,” the Mage Lord coldly snorted before walking away from the Green Dragon Hunter Party. “Return to Russia at once and spend the next three months at your homes, away from the nosy press.”
Vera and the others nodded with large beads of sweat running down their faces. After which, they waited a few seconds following the Mage Lord’s departure to leave as well.

Viola, who was sitting a few dozen meters away, saw everything go down. And beside her, hiding between the folds of reality just like the Alien had done, was a shadowy cloaked man with a deadly gleam in his eyes.
He held within his hands the mysterious amulet-like device that had somehow survived the use of his one-time Trump Card Skill.
