Chapter 212: A Slayer Weapon
While nonchalantly wiping out any remaining Treants that still dared to mess with them, Cassius became a bit curious. The girl strolling beside him didn’t talk much and also didn’t express many emotions. To understand her thoughts, the easiest method was to simply ask.

Yuna was, after all, quite a straightforward and direct person.

“What is it? Do I have something on my face?” he used the classic line.

The response he received, however, was an unusual one:

“No,” she said. “Your face is perfect.”

Although a bit taken aback, Cassius continued his line of questioning. “So then what is it? Have you already fallen in love with my immeasurable charms or something?”

Question marks appeared above Yuna’s head. “Love?” she repeated. “I don’t know what that word means. Why would you think I love you? I don’t understand.”

Silence.

‘Talking to this woman… it’s like talking to a rock…’

The 12th Princess’s density level might’ve been even higher than his, which he didn’t even think was possible.

But regardless of that useless information, Cassius heaved a heavy sigh. “You take everything so seriously. And here I thought you were a rebel of sorts. But honestly, you don’t seem like the type. You’re more of a… like a robot.”

“A ro…bot? What does that mean? Can you eat it?”

Cassius, feeling compelled to do so, petted the short girl’s soft bed of snowy white hair. “You can’t eat robots, but sometimes I wish I could eat mine. Maybe then it would shut up.”

‘You… f*cking bastard…’ Cassius’s temples grew itchy the longer he thought about his System. ‘Just wait until I figure out a way to eat you for real—devour you whole! Let’s see who’ll be the one cracking jokes then!’

[Fufu~ I’ll be patiently waiting for that day to arrive~ Don’t keep a lady waiting for too long~]

‘Yep, that’s it… Enough of the Bastard for today…’

With that, Cassius tuned out the frequency that was his System, which meant Channel ‘Bastard A*shole’ was now off-limits for the rest of the day. And rather than have his mind filled with every useless thing that spilled out of the bastard’s mouth, he much preferred the sparse exchange of words he had going with Yuna.

Talking to her was like talking to an adorable girl apt at providing comedic relief, only to then enjoy a very satisfying stretch of silence. And if not for the yapping youngins yapping away in the background, it might have actually turned out to be a very pleasant afternoon stroll through haunted woods.

Noticing his sighs, Yuna took the chance to ask, “About earlier—you experienced your Slayer Awakening, did you not?”

She knew the answer but wanted to hear it from him personally.

Cassius nodded.

Yuna’s gaze intensified at that subtle confirmation. For the next ten seconds of walking and slashing, she didn’t once look away from him. Eventually, it became something he could no longer ignore. He shifted his eyes toward her while still moving forward, asking:

“Something else you want to ask?”

Yuna nodded once, then cutely nodded again. “That weapon of yours—you never answered my question: is it your Slayer Weapon?”

Cassius blinked at her, then blinked again, and like a sloth, he recalled. “Ah, that. Yeah, I really don’t know what a Slayer Weapon actually is.”

“…And you’re sure you’re not from somewhere beyond the Land of Beginnings?”

Cassius awkwardly scratched his neck. “I know nothing about anything beyond the Land of Beginnings. But even if I did, I’d likely forget it. As you can see, my memory is definitely not my most noteworthy quality.”

Yuna pondered his words, seriously. So seriously, in fact, Cassius wondered what part of what he said was so profound. Yet, he was baffled to hear her say, “Your memory is not good… I see… My name. Do you remember my name?”

Cassius was speechless.

‘Does she think I’m a f*cking turtle or something?? My memory isn’t that bad!’

Despite his thoughts, he said, “Of course… of course I remember your name.”

“Say it.”

“Pardon…?”

Yuna tilted her head in confusion. “So your memory really is that bad…”

Cassius’s face twitched.

Sighing, he slowly and deeply said, “Yuna Mistalore. That is your name.”

“Say it again.”

“Yuna Mistalore.”

“Again.”

“Yuna… Mistalore.”

“Do it again.”

“Yu…na… Mist…alore…”

Yuna nodded, then did so twice more. “Mhmm, I don’t think you have memory problems.”

‘Is that what you got from all of this…?? What the f*ck…’

However, the next words to leave the 12th Princess’s pretty candy-red lips immediately intrigued him. “You want to know more about Slayer Weapons?”

Cassius wasted no time in responding, “Yes, if you don’t mind.”

Yuna nodded, but then paused and closed her mouth. After a moment, she turned to him, extremely serious, and said, “I can tell you, but my name.”

“What about it?” asked Cassius.

Yuna looked him straight in the eye and said, “You must say my name more often from here on out.”

‘What sort of request is that??’ he questioned skeptically, yet still replied with a nod.

It was silent for a few seconds after that…

“Are you not going to tell me…?” Cassius asked, unable to understand what was going on here.

Yuna—having not once looked away from him—said, “You haven’t said my name yet.”

Cassius: “….”

“…Yuna… if you would please tell me, I’d really appreciate that…”

Yuna nodded, her voice turning grave. “Very well, I’ll tell you, Cassius Steele from Isolated Land.”

‘She makes this sound so serious… Is there something more to the details of Slayer Weapons than meets the eye??’

Turns out there wasn’t.

To summarize what she went on to inform him of: Slayer Weapons were essentially evolving weapons that advanced with their Host. Similar to how Lilith functioned, they absorbed part of the Nightmare Essence that entered their Host’s body before amplifying the amount and strengthening both themselves and their Host. Though, the craziest part had to be how one actually acquired a Slayer Weapon, as they were not externally forged.

Rather, they were created… inside a Slayer’s body…
