Chapter 265: A Lying Princess [Bonus Chapter 1/7]
‘If even the best Spirit Doctors and Court Mages in the nation were unable to prescribe me a cure, then the source of the spell is where I shall go,’ Yuna thought as her irises traced along the Nightmare corpses strewn about. ‘And no matter what sort of sorcery that insufferable man has cast on me, I’ll have him undo it.’
It had only been a few seconds since she and her protector had stepped into the Boundless Gorge. And it was around this time that they saw something unusual—a body. A body with warmth. The body lay atop the corpse of a large Nightmare of an unknown Rank.
“Princess, stay behind me,” the Vice Fortress Master said, stepping in front of Yuna. He held the Purifying Staff in one hand and a glowing magical sword in the other—his Slayer Weapon—and a very high-ranked one at that.
The body that had him so worked up was obviously of the human variety. However, when dealing with Nightmares, not everything was always as it seemed. What appeared to be human could very well turn out to be a shape-shifting Nightmare. And more often than not, an intelligent, scheming Nightmare was an extremely powerful one.
Yet, in spite of knowing this as well as the Vice Fortress Master, Yuna sauntered forward without fear. Even with his fretful cautions ringing in her ears, she didn’t once pause her advance. She climbed up the Nightmare corpse’s side and found herself leaning down beside the blood-covered human body. Then, with the delicate touch of a woman, she reached out and pressed her fingers against the body’s flawless face.
Cassius, 100% lucid at this moment, found it difficult to decide what to do. He had been awake for quite some time, but when he felt two presences—one familiar—arrive, he froze. And now, he was simply left to debate how awkward it would be if he opened his eyes right now.
‘I’ll just pretend to sleep for a while longer,’ he thought, sweat beads rolling down his face. ‘Although I have no idea why that stone-faced Princess is here, why she’s touching me like this, or even why she brought along that strong fellow, I do know that starting now would be more trouble than it’s worth.’
As a once avid light novel reader, Cassius was very familiar with these sorts of tropes. And if those pieces of divine literature had taught him anything, it was always to play the fool. Always, always, always play the fool.
Play the role of the Fool so well that even you yourself begin to believe you’re a Fool!
This was a principle and a code of conduct that Cassius Steele lived by! And it would be one he’d die on the cross to uphold!
Though, as the white-haired Princess’s fingers traced along the contours of his face, Cassius began to wonder if his beliefs were correct. ‘She won’t go and violate me or anything, will she? he asked himself, a wee bit concerned. I don’t think so… Surely…’
That was when he felt her other dainty hand seductively walk atop his chest, slowly making its way toward his chin. Her first hand followed suit, and before long, both of her hands were cupping his cheeks.
‘This is…’ Cassius—the man who defied death time and time again—felt a chill when faced with the potential loss of his preciously kept virginity.
He knew she was surely about to lean in for a kiss, but then what? What came after? Was she prepared to go all the way with him?? While he was sleeping, no less!?
He didn’t want to lose it this way!
Where were a maiden’s dreams in this sort of scandalous, vile act!? Did his personal feelings not matter in the slightest!?
‘You can stop narrating for me in the background, you bastard System,’ Cassius thought with an annoyed expression.
[Teehee~! How’d ya know? (∗˃̶ ᵕ ˂̶∗)]
‘Well, when you start to hear an annoying voice spouting nonsense in the back of your head, you begin to notice things,’ he said. ‘Now, tell me, what should I really do if she goes all the way? And even if I stop her, what would happen if I encountered a similar predicament where I wasn’t strong enough to resist? Would the penalty for fornication still be the same—’
[Of course! Your twinky dinky balls and the negative length in between shall be snippy snipped! Shing, Shing, ya feel?]
[(❀❛ ֊ ❛„)♡]
“…I see… So that means I’d be screwed…’
[Yep, yep! Screwed! And you also won’t get to screw anything else from that moment onward! So suggestion for ya: unleash your inner Alpha Sigma and don’t let any of the blind Lasses in the world get one over on ya! Awwooooh—!!!]
‘That bastard really is…’ Cassius could only sigh in the face of such a ridiculous entity.
It was also at this same moment that Yuna Mistalore did precisely what one might have expected after cupping his cheeks. She leaned down, letting her long, luscious white hair drape like a shimmering waterfall. Then she edged her lips closer to those of the man seemingly sound asleep before her.
However, just as their lips were about to make contact, Yuna’s face suddenly passed by his. Her mouth stopped near his right ear, and she softly whispered, “I know you’re awake.”
‘Damn!’ thought Cassius. ‘They always do!’
With that, the gig was up. He sat up like a half-dead zombie, his fully opened eyes peering into the brilliantly transparent reddish-orange eyes of the girl sitting beside him.
“How’d you know?” he asked, seriously curious.
Many of the Skills he just used to ensure that he appeared unconscious were severely restricted. Even so, it should’ve been impossible for someone like Yuna to see through him.

So that begged the question: how had she done it!?
“I… I could just tell,” Yuna said, lying straight through her teeth. “You know of my… you know what, and one of the special somethings I got from that was an ability to see through certain things.”
Another lie.
