“And as a boon of this Bloodline, I can sense any Soul Eaters in close proximity to myself,” Cassius said with an evil smirk. “With Soul Eaters sticking close to places with high levels of malevolence, this simply means that, as long as I continue traveling around the Shallow Crater and the Endless Dark Fog, I’ll eventually find more of my kind.”

One way or another, he’d become stronger through the advancements of his Soul Eater Bloodline. Even if he had to kill those of his race to achieve this, he’d do it without hesitation.

While lost in his thoughts, the lively blue flame—which had been silently watching until now—suddenly shot toward Cassius.

‘Wha!? So fast—’

Even with his insane speed and perception, he was only able to catch a glimpse of the blue flame before it crashed into him and melded with his existence.

“What the hell!?” Cassius exclaimed, warily searching through himself with his divine sense. “That blue flame… Now that I think about it, why wasn’t it in the Soul Eater’s memories? It wasn’t even aware that the flame was in the same dark space as it. In fact, this entire temple wasn’t even built by the Soul Eater like I originally assumed, yet the blue flame was left unbothered at the top… So then… what the hell just entered inside me??”

At the same moment those words left his mouth, the mysterious blue flame finished fusing with him. A large explosion of blue flames erupted like a volcano, with Cassius’s figure as the source. This eruption was miraculously capable of dispersing the surrounding darkness.

After a few seconds, the eruption increased in intensity, causing the endless darkness to dissipate!

However, contrary to how it appeared, the darkness hadn’t simply vanished. Rather, all of it—even at this very moment—was being constantly absorbed and refined by Cassius with the assistance of the blue flame.

Plot armor, indeed. And one that came straight out of left field at that! Was this the so-called protagonist aura!?

“I doubt it…” Cassius muttered self-deprecatingly, feeling the stinging sensation coursing through him. “After all, just owning this Bloodline inflicts so much pain on me… What sort of protagonist has to constantly experience pain in order to become overpowered? I got the sh*t-tier main character card… Haiz…”

Was the phantom pain from his countless deaths not enough!? Might as well feel even larger levels of pain, huh!?

With a sigh, Cassius beckoned the immediate dispersal of his blue flames. The place instantly cleared out, leaving neither darkness nor flames.

Looking around, he saw only the bloodstained altar and a certain pedestal that hadn’t been there before. It stood off to the side of the altar, likely hidden within the darkness prior to its clearing. The pedestal itself was very ordinary, but lying atop it was something that was anything but ordinary—a pair of thin, golden bracelets with runic blue lines etched into them. The bracelets exuded stifling blue flames.

Without wasting a single breath, Cassius picked up the bangles and slid them onto both wrists. They fit his arms perfectly, thinning to a point where they looked like wristbands—ones that sat atop his Newbie 10 Wrist Weights. Surprisingly, neither item affected the other, seemingly existing in complete harmony.

The effects of the bangles applied themselves to Cassius less than a second later, allowing him to feel far more in tune with the Azura Flame. He even felt like he could call upon it and turn the flames into a chair, a sword, or even a house!

But most importantly of all was the item’s last effect—Extreme Nullification.

“The Azura Flame must partially possess some of this quality, which explains why the darkness dispersed, leaving this place blank,” Cassius said. “And if it was capable of dispersing and absorbing that darkness, then it should also be able to nullify the Endless Dark Fog.”

“Well, I guess I’ll just have to verify the truth of the matter later,” he continued. “But for now, I still have the darkness of this place stored somewhere inside me. I should sort it all out and see how much of it I can absorb.”

Doing just that, he tugged on his inner darkness and redirected it to what he instinctively knew to be his Azura Refinement Physique cultivation center. He guided the process, permitting seamless absorption and empowerment throughout his entire body. His physique’s proficiency naturally started to rise.
