Chapter 292: Turning to Stone [Bonus Chapter 3/7]
“!!!”
Cassius—not capable of fully evading in time—was caught up in the reddish-hued gray light that shot out of the Tri-Elemental Gorgon’s eyes. The light covered just about everything in the area. Rank 3 and Rank 4 Nightmares alike were turned into stone, unable to return to what they once were.
‘My arm??’ Cassius thought as he urgently glanced at his left arm. ‘It’s turning to stone!’
The notion was a daunting one, but it was also a rather exciting one.
He was curious to find out what’d happen if he actually turned to stone. Would he be able to break out? Would his Mythical Phoenix Bloodline come in clutch??
Or would his story simply end with his demise having been a lackluster one…?
Yet, not wishing to take the risk just because of his child-like curiosity, Cassius raised his right arm and sliced down at the arm being rapidly turned to stone. The arm was cut cleanly at the shoulder base, leaving it to fall from the sky, turn completely to stone, and eventually shatter against the hard, incinerated ground.
“That was a close one,” he said as he refocused his attention on the Tri-Elemental Gorgon’s sinuous gazes. “Now, back to the fight—”
He jinxed it.
A hidden fourth head suddenly appeared in the form of a tail on the Tri-Elemental Gorgon’s backside. From that tail and subsequent head, another cast of |Stone Sight| was used. The same reddish-gray light as before was released unto the Gorge.
“Well, shit, its name scammed me—”
In an instant, both Cassius’s exasperated expression and the rest of him froze in time. He had been encased in a suit of stone, left to plummet from the sky like a common rock sculpture.
In a way, maybe this was Fate’s way of giving him what he wanted…
Maybe…
‘F*ck that!’ Cassius shouted inside his head. ‘My claustrophobia was already bad, I don’t need this!’
Yet, just as his thoughts froze in stone like his body had, a crazy idea popped up in his mind.
What if he were to kill himself in order to fool the stone transformation process into believing that he was dead? Would something as insane as that actually work??
Well, with what little time he had left before his consciousness became stonefied, he said hell with it and ruptured every vein in his body. Less than a nanosecond later, he blew up his internal organs, destroyed his soul, and splattered his brain matter inside himself.
He died, obviously.
However, with the miraculous effects of his Mythical Phoenix Bloodline and |Godly Nirvana Rebirth| Skill, every part of his existence reconstructed itself. From his brain to his other organs to even his soul—all of it had been restored to the way it once was.
As for the hard layer of stone that once covered him, it was no more. Only the flaked-off stone shavings of what it once was remained.
“It appears that my half-assed hypothesis worked out in my favor,” Cassius said while cracking his knuckles and neck. “What say we go for round 2—”
Before he could even finish that question, a fifth head suddenly reared itself beside the fourth head, with both being tail heads.
“You motherfu—”
Cassius was once again encased in a suit of stone.
But same as the first time, he killed himself in whatever way possible. Of course, with his Mythical Phoenix Bloodline, he naturally returned to life.
“Okay, now you’re going to get it—”
BLING!
A sixth head! The third tail head!
Another reddish light array!

“You sick son of a bit—”
Cassius froze once again!
He killed himself—once again!!
Another retry!!!
“You dumb sh*t,” Cassius said, irritated to no end. “It takes a lot more out of me to purposefully kill myself than to be killed by someone else, you know? For making me do it not once, not twice, but three f*cking times… Well, I think your scales will look quite nice as an expensively constructed wall.”
FWIP!
He blurred forward, using |Teleport| to further increase his already explosive speed.
Knowing damn well that six heads was the Tri-Elemental Gorgon’s limit—and also knowing that the |Stone Sight| Skill had a cooldown—he went all out while he had the chance. He conjured the copied versions of Lilith and Mora, then activated his Azura Flame Bangles and infused the Azura Flame into both his weapons.
Massive arcs of fiery blue flames spat out of Mora and Lilith. The place was lit up even more than when Cassius first used the Azura Flame on the Tri-Elemental Gorgon.
Yet, this was far from enough destructive power for him; he wanted his strength to be overwhelming, unbelievably powerful!
For but the briefest of instants, Cassius activated his |I AM SPEED| attribute and converted all his speed into the Atomic Element. It was temporary and could only be used this way because he was already right above the Mid Rank 4 Nightmare, but damn did it create something mesmerizingly glorious.
The once dim black skies became a fantastical mixture of the blues and blacks produced by the |Azura Flame| as well as the purples, golds, and silvers made as a result of the Atomic Element.
For a few moments, that entire section of the Boundless Gorge was shrouded by a wide array of colors.
However, do not let appearances deceive you, for none of the observed colors were harmless or benign. In fact, when any of the Nightmares so much as lightly touched a color, they were immediately vaporized.
Not even their ashes remained…
Yet, just when one believed that the whole world was going to be devoured by the pretty array of colorful lights, all of it shrunk. They shrunk and shrunk, until eventually, nothing except for a thin line of the colors could be seen. It perfectly contained every single one of the volatile elements that went into creating it, yet took things a step further and condensed it to a point where the wild, unruly aspect disappeared.
No sounds came from the thin line—a line that connected to the copy of Lilith and extended so high up that even Cassius knew not where the line’s tip lay.
