Chapter 335: A Standstill
“Now then,” Cassius began, cracking his neck. “Why don’t you confide in me some of your problems? Perhaps I can help. And also, while you’re at it, why don’t you f*cking tell me why you’re wielding those weapons?”
The chubby boy’s face became uglier than it already was. His power grew ever greater, with just the weight of his presence shaking all of the Abyssal Bowl.
The Original Abyss’s strength was on an entirely different level—far beyond even Cassius’s.
However, unlike him, the Original Abyss had not a damn clue how to properly utilize its strength. It just mindlessly attacked, not even aware of the true limits of its power.
Raw strength—that was the only thing it relied on.
‘If this creature knew how to make use of its power, then I’d certainly have no choice but to forcefully lift the EXP cock blocker 2000 restriction,’ Cassius thought. ‘But fortunately, I don’t believe that’ll be necessary. At most, I’ll just have to die a few million more times.’
He lost count of how many times he had died since the fight began, and if he was being totally honest, he didn’t really care. The only thing on his mind right now was figuring out how he was going to overcome this adversary of his—
The Final Boss of the World’s End Gate.
A being so incredibly powerful that, if let out from the Gate, would’ve erased the Isolated Solar System from existence in an instant.
However, Cassius was here to make sure that didn’t happen.
He was a Hero and sh*t.
With a noble heart and a deranged look on his face, Cassius flashed forward. He instantly reached a stabbable distance from the Original Abyss, but that meant very little when his movements were super slow in the blackened, bloody eyes of the chubby child.
“FUTILE!!! DIEE, FOEE!!! BECOME LOOOT!!!”
‘Become Loo—?’
Before that thought could fully form in Cassius’s mind, the Original Abyss slashed out with its large crimson scythe. The eerily familiar weapon enlarged to millions of times its original size before annihilating everything in its path.
And with Cassius having been within such close range, even when he instinctively went to dodge, he was nowhere near making it away in time. The enlarged crimson scythe erased him all the way down to his atoms.
Even with his Mythical Phoenix Bloodline—which was rapidly running low on daily uses—it took a full two seconds for him to fully regenerate. Which was markedly longer than a normal Rebirth took.
“Damn, that one hurt a hell of a lot,” Cassius lamented. “Luckily, I managed to preserve my consciousness in time.”
Enraged by the continual rebirths of the anomaly before it, the Original Abyss roared, “DIE, DIE!, DIE!!! DIE!!!! FOE!!!!!!”
It didn’t mention “Loot” again, and with Cassius having completely forgotten it saying it, it was as if it had never been said to begin with…
But with more perilous concerns at hand, Cassius lacked the luxury of attempting to recall what had been forgotten.
“Time for Round… like 7000?”
[What you meant to say, Dear Host, was time for the next round of Character Development!]
“No, f*ck yo—”
SHA! SHA! SHA!
Cassius died.
Several times.
“Ugh… I blame you, System f*cker,” he cursed as soon as he regenerated. “Making me waste perfectly good rebirths like that; shame on you!”
[Heh~]
Overlooking their quibbling, it seemed that someone was the furthest thing from willing to patiently wait for them to finish speaking.

“FOEEE!!! SLAAYYY!!!”
“Haiz… Here we go again…”
— Days later, yet only hours in the outside world —
“Do you think the Raid is going well…?” Luna asked.
“You mean the Solo Raid?” Arden corrected, obvious respect in his tone. “The single most dangerous Gate in the history of the world… being conquered by a single man…”
“It’s surreal,” Rika added. “Even more so when you realize that this man stayed under the radar for so long. It’s as if he doesn’t care even the tiniest bit about fame or fortun—”
“He doesn’t,” Kaida clicked her tongue. “That look in his eye—it’s not one possessed by someone who pursues worldly possessions. No, as much as I don’t like the guy, I know what kind of person he truly is.”
“Oh?” Luna suggestively raised a brow. “Has the stone-hearted draconic beauty finally found love? And in a man who single-handedly thwarted an Alien Invasion, no less~”
“Tsk,” Kaida snarled. “You have no idea what you’re talking about. I’d never like someone like him.”
“Yeah, sure, sure, whatever you say,” Luna teased. “Though that blush painting your face red would indicate differently.”
“W-What blush, you b*tch…!?” Kaida checked her reflection with a spell just to make sure, only to become angrier after realizing that Luna was messing with her.
“Hey, don’t look at me like that,” Luna said while acting like a church mouse. “It scares me…”
“You think that’s scary? Just you wait!!”
“Noo, ahhh—!”
Arden and Rika, who were standing in the background of the Purple Gate they were in, stared blankly.
“They do know that we’re currently experiencing a potential Armageddon, right?” Arden asked, just to make sure.
“I… I believe so,” Rika replied, her smile twitching. “Honestly, those two have kinda always been airheads. It’s possible that even if a giant planet-destroying meteor fell from the sky right now, they’d still be goofing off.”
After a brief pause. “I suppose that’s how they’re dealing with the unveiling of the deaths of Dante, Ezekiel, and the others,” Arden sighed. “I can admit that those revelations are still affecting me. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to get over the fact that friends and family were extraterrestrials that invaded from outer space.”
Rika shook her head. “Without knowing better, we as a Civilization fell almost overnight…”
“…What a life…”
— Sometime later, within the World’s End Gate —
Not too long ago, the last of the Abyssal Bowl shattered.
Now, there were five major pieces of the once incalculably large landmass, and on the largest of those pieces, two figures floated opposite each other. Two more figures could be seen nervously staring in their direction from inside a bubble located trillions of miles away.
The battle that demolished a cosmic construct had… come to a standstill.
