Chapter 435: Yi Yu and a Seed
‘Help her.’

[Very well, but the cost at your dismal state will put you back into a period of hibernation. Then again, you already know that, don’t you, my Dear Host?]

Silence…

[Even with your consciousness barely a flicker, your resolve is still unmatched. You truly are worthy of being the Host destined for me throughout all eternity…]

BLING!

A bright green light blasted out of the unusual seed and covered the dying girl in its warm glow. Her injuries gradually began to recover; however, with every ounce of rejuvenation came the further withering of the seed.

It was dying…

But she was alive.

— Some time later —

“Hah!” Yi Yu woke up like a straightened sword, her messy hair waving about as she wearily surveyed her surroundings. “Where am I!? What happened to me??”

That was when the memories of encountering the seed came flooding back to her.

“So that’s how it is… But then where is the seed!? And how am I still alive!??”

She received no answers, and there was no imparting of divine wisdom.

“I guess I should just thank the gods that I survived,” she muttered, though felt terrible over what happened to the seed. “I couldn’t even protect a plant. I really am useless—”

Just then, a purple-black glow caught her eye, prompting her to race over. Digging her hands in the dirt, she scooped out a dried-up seed.

Overflowing with joy, Yi Yu jumped up and down.

“It’s alive! It’s really alive!”

Although barely…

“I should take it back to the Sect right away,” she declared resolutely. “Then I can nurture it back to life!”

But before that, it needed a name. One that fit it to a T.

Purple… Black… Red… A seed…

Ah!

“Nope, I’m stumped…”

Yi Yu sighed as she went to get up off the ground. Something sticky was glued to her hands, urging her to show a slight pout, saying, “Of course there had to be a puddle of Becro Tree Juice at a time like this. What a bumm— Wait!”

She had it!

The name!

“Necro!”

OUNG!

“???”

Why was there the sound of a gong??

Was this also some sort of natural phenomenon??

“Speaking of natural phenomena,” Yi Yu began while looking to the top of the cliff, “I wonder what happened with that rainbow-colored flower. Did the Seniors make it back to the Sect with it?”

*Rumble…*

A slight blush formed on her face, with the rumbling of her stomach interrupting her thoughts.

“I really should hurry back to the Sect,” she said as she moved her legs, quickly reaching speeds upwards of dozens of miles per hour. “Hopefully the Seniors are okay.”

— Some time later, at the gates of a Sect that sat in between a small mountain pass —

*Snore… Snore…*

An old man was sleeping on an old wooden chair, and a pretty young girl with torn-up robes approached.

“Excuse me, Mr. Zhang!”

“Hwa!? Who dares— Oh, it’s just you, Little Yu,” said Old Man Zhang. “Go on in. The others thought you had died like the rest, but I knew that wasn’t the case.”

Yi Yu’s face immediately greyed. She repeated, “Like the others…?”

Old Man Zhang nodded, but made a puzzled expression. “You act like you weren’t aware. Were you not there with Mo Fuchan as well? The only survivor of the massacre?”

“N-No, I… fell…”

Old Man Zhang observed the troubled countenance of the long-haired girl staring down at her feet. He sighed, saying, “Don’t let it get to you, Little Yu. Accidents are common, and though this one was a particularly tragic one, that doesn’t change my point. Just head on over to Mo Fuchan and the Elders; they’ll explain what happened according to Mo’s retelling of the events.”

“…Okay…”

With a downcast aura, Yi Yu walked past the old man guarding the Main Gates of the Sect. He heaved another heavy breath of air as she walked by, but soon returned to his deep slumber.

Not long after passing through the Sect Gates, a commotion could be heard from up ahead.

“Are you trying to say that Eldest Senior Brother Mo lied!? How could that be!?”

“N-No…! Bu-But my husband… H-He was…” A woman wailed.

Yi Yu could sense the deep sadness of the woman from dozens of meters away. She walked past a few Sect buildings in an attempt to get close enough to better hear what they were arguing about.

*Slap!*

“Who gives a shit if your husband was among the deceased in the adventuring party!” The fierce man who was angrily shouting at the distraught lady retracted his hand. “Many of our friends and family died, but that’s no reason to doubt the words of Eldest Senior Brother Mo! He’s a role model for us all, and if he says a massive Marrow Refinement Realm Demon Beast attacked, then that’s what happened!”

The murmurings of the crowd increased in volume after watching the saddened woman get slapped to the ground in such a crude manner. Some felt bad for her, but at the same time, in speaking up against the Eldest Senior Brother, she was essentially asking for it.

“W-Why did you just hit that grieving woman…??”

In a voice as meek as a church mouse, Yi Yu made her stance known. An act which made almost everyone turn their heads her way.

“Who is this girl??”

“Does she not know her place!? Or does she believe she can get away with anything as long as she’s pretty??”

“Wait, I think I know who she is! Yi Yu, a Flesh Refining Realm Cultivator! But I thought she was supposed to be a part of the Adventuring Party that was almost entirely wiped out???”

The way everyone looked at the nervously sheepish girl dramatically changed. Some even went to get an Elder with post-haste.

A couple seconds later, one arrived.

He was known as Elder Do Bu. He had medium-length grey hair, a frail build, and carried himself like a wizened senior.

A cultivation of the Viscera Refinement Stage, same as Mo Fuchan!

“Girl, what is your name?” he asked as soon as he made his grand appearance.

Yi Yu fiddled with her fingers, this being her first time encountering such a high-rank member of the Greenflame Sect. But with courage that seemingly came from the dilapidated seed in her satchel, she gave the Elder her name.

“So it’s Little Miss Yi Yu,” he said with a courteous tone, motioning for the girl to follow him away from the crowd of people. “It would appear that you’re the only other person than Mo Fuchan to survive the Demon Beast massacre. The other Elders and Sect Leader will wish to know about this.”

“O-Okay—”

“Wait!” The distraught woman from earlier rushed up to the departing pair. “I haven’t had the chance to thank you yet, but thank you for defending me, young miss…!”

Seeing the tear-stained woman bowing her head behind her, Yi Yu quickly raised her hands and frantically waved them.

“I-I really didn’t do anything much… Please don’t thank me; I don’t deserve it…”

“Regardless, thank you, young miss…!”

Helpless, Yi Yu could only bow her head as well before running off with Elder Do Bu to a higher-placed area of the Sect.
