Chapter 436: Necro
“So you’re the second survivor of the Adventure Party massacre?” The Greenflame Sect’s Sect Leader spoke up, his Half-step Qi Condensation Realm aura suffocating the room. “But that comes off as strange, seeing as Disciple Mo Fuchan here claimed himself to be the only survivor.”
Mo Fuchan was not looking too good right now. His slightly handsome face was scrunched up and twisted, filtering between green, purple, and red in color.
‘How was this bitch able to survive that fall?! It makes no sense!’
She was even unharmed!
Ridiculous!
“Well, I’m inclined to believe that perhaps Mo Fuchan was mistaken when he confirmed the deaths of every other disciple,” said a female Elder who supported him. “It’s an honest mishap.”
Mo Fuchan’s soured expression brightened at this. “Elder Sa is right. The situation was so dire, with the threat of the Marrow Refinement Demon Beast such a dangerous one that my mind was thrown out of loop.”
“This—” Shadows streaked across his face during his pause. “—Junior Sister of mine… is fortunate to have survived that ‘terrible’ encounter. Fortunate indeed.”
Yi Yu was poised in the middle of a spacious room. On every side of the room, in a circular formation, was a Sect Elder. A special guest was the Lead Sect Disciple, Mo Fuchan, who was standing off to the side, showing the poor girl in the middle a ‘friendly’ look.
“Both of your opinions are duly noted, but we’re still missing the input of the one most vital to this discussion,” said the Sect Leader. “So then, Disciple Yi Yu, what happened?”
Mo Fuchan flashed her a threatening look, doing so unnoticed by the Elders present in the room.
“I…” Yi Yu shuddered under the pressure jointly emitted by the powerhouses around her. “I… don’t…”
She lowered her head, unable to meet any of their stares.
She felt like crawling into a hole and dying…
However, at her lowest, the cracked seed in her satchel started to glow. The light it emitted soothed Yi Yu’s nerves and allowed her to explain her side of the story, omitting no details.
Lying wouldn’t have gotten her anywhere anyway. After all, under the scrutiny of the Sect Leader, the truth would’ve been laid bare whether she wanted it to or not.
“So that’s how it is,” said the Sect Leader while deep in thought. “The cliffside broke apart with you over it. And this happened after a Natural Treasure was discovered…”
He glanced at the nervously sweating Mo Fuchan, sensing something amiss.
“Disciple Yi Yu here says she wasn’t there to witness who took that flower, but it wouldn’t happen to have fallen into your hands, would it have?”
“O-Of course not, Sect Leader!” Mo Fuchan frantically scrambled for words, his pupils swimming around inside his eyes. “I’m very familiar with the Sect’s rules, so if I took it, I’d have to be stupid! No, it was that scummy Demon Beast that stole the Tier 3 Natural Treasure and ran off with it! Damn that beast!!”
The Sect Leader crossed his fingers before placing his hands under his chin. On his chair, he sat and brooded.
The longer he remained quiet, the more anxious Mo Fuchan became.
That was until the Sect Leader broke the silence, saying, “Let’s leave it at that, then.”
Several sighs of relief were breathed, though Mo Fuchan still held a grudge against the girl who was supposed to die.
“This meeting is adjourned, and all relevant parties should leave at once,” the Sect Leader ordered. “The Internal Sect Competition is coming up soon, so I expect everyone to prepare yourselves and your participating disciples for the annual event.”
“Yes, Sect Leader!”
With that, everyone dispersed. They either returned to their Mountain Peaks scattered across the Sect or the lavish abodes housing the Elders who stayed in the Main Sect Grounds.
Then there were the two outliers—the two Disciples—Mo Fuchan and Yi Yu.
The former considered returning the ‘favor’ right here and now for putting his ass in the fire, but decided not to in the end. If something were to happen to Yi Yu, he’d be the first one everyone pointed fingers at.
Therefore, until he finished assimilating the Natural Treasure that he had to store in his Dantian in a rush, he’d leave her be.

‘What I have most of is time. And for this offense, your punishment will not be a light one, Junior Sister.’
While Mo Fuchan’s thoughts evilly stirred, Yi Yu, who had just returned to her humble eastern cave abode, sat down. Cupped in her hands like the most precious of jewels was the unusual seed that seemed both simple and mysterious at the same time.
“Why do you feel so special, Mr. Seed?” Yi Yu got into a lying position, kicking her feet behind her. “I may sound crazy, but for some reason, I think you’re the thing that saved my life. I mean, I died… At least, that’s what it felt like.”
For a while, she just marveled at the cut-up seed, seemingly attempting to peer into its secrets.
But after some time, she decided to take the seed and bury it in some spiritual energy-filled soil that she kept inside a pot. This pot was then placed at the far end of the cave abode, where a few streams of sunlight shone through.
“There we are; that should do it!” Yi Yu’s lips curved upward as she happily smiled at the pot. “I’ll protect you forever and ever, but make sure to grow big and strong, Necro. Only that way can you not be as useless as I am…”
The seed glowed a little from within the pot’s soil, making Yi Yu all the happier.
The next day quickly came, and as the sun rose up in the west, Yi Yu’s pretty face was there to greet Necro. She watered him and made sure he got plenty of sunlight, all while smiling more brilliantly than the sun itself.
The daytime hours ended, and the dark came, making way for the next dawn.
