Chapter 393: Chapter 391: When you face yourself in your weakest moment
Yoora’s legs gave out beneath her, her eyes slowly closing as her breathing grew shallow. The last thing she saw was Seojun’s tall figure stepping forward through the fading light, then darkness gently took her.

Seojun moved quickly, catching her before she could fall completely. Her body was light, but she was burning with mana exhaustion—he could feel it through her skin. Without wasting time, he opened a rift with a swipe of his hand and stepped into the Ethereal Grounds, carrying her carefully.

The soft winds of the grounds blew through his coat as he stood in the open field, then with a quiet snap of his fingers, a white bed formed from light itself. It floated for a moment before settling gently on the ground. Seojun laid Yoora down slowly, brushing a bit of hair from her face as he watched her breathe softly, her chest rising and falling in uneven rhythm.

Not long after, Nayoung and Jinhyu came running over from the distance, their training momentarily interrupted. Their eyes widened when they saw Yoora unconscious on the bed.

“What happened to her?” Nayoung asked quickly, worry in her voice as she stepped closer.

“She’s okay,” Seojun said calmly, glancing at the two.

Hannah and Minseok arrived from the rift behind him, and Hannah answered instead, “Yoora tamed a rare beast. She used too much mana… her body couldn’t handle it.”

Jinhyu blinked. “A rare beast?”

“Yup,” Hannah nodded, catching her breath. “A five-tailed fox.”

Jinhyu’s eyes widened in shock. “She’s able to tame that?! Wow… Yoora’s mana must be amazing.”

He looked down at her, clearly impressed.

Nayoung, meanwhile, tilted her head slightly, still confused. She wasn’t very good with beast knowledge and didn’t really understand what made a five-tailed fox so special. Her eyes wandered to the small creature Hannah was holding gently in her arms. It looked like a glowing, soft insect with delicate wings and little antennae that sparkled under the sunlight.

“Oh… that’s your familiar?” Nayoung asked, walking over curiously.

Hannah smiled and nodded, lowering the creature to the ground. It fluttered slightly and landed on her shoulder, making a soft chiming sound like a bell.

“Yeah! Meet Lumi!” she said proudly, patting the tiny creature’s head gently. Then she turned to the others, her eyes bright. “Lumi, meet my friends! This is Nayoung, and that’s Jinhyu.”

Lumi floated in the air for a second, then did a little spin and blinked its tiny glowing eyes.

Jinhyu chuckled. “It’s cute!”

Nayoung reached out her hand slowly, and Lumi brushed its wing against her finger.

“She’s so small,” Nayoung whispered. “But she feels warm.”

Hannah nodded. “Lumi’s not that strong yet, but she has light and healing affinity. She can grow later.”

As the others smiled and interacted, Seojun stood beside the bed quietly, watching Yoora’s breathing finally start to steady. He knew this wasn’t just a simple taming—it was a turning point. She didn’t win the fox with power or force… she won it by understanding.

“She’s going to be fine,” he said softly, mostly to himself, before glancing at Nayoung and Jinhyu again.

Then, his eyes narrowed slightly as he stepped forward.

“Alright. It’s your turn now,” Seojun said, his voice calm but serious.

Nayoung and Jinhyu both looked at him.

“What do you mean?” Jinhyu asked.

“It’s time,” Seojun said. “The two of you are ready. Let’s begin your awakening.”

Seojun spoke in a calm but clear voice, “I have three methods for helping someone awaken, and after thinking about your current progress and personality, I’ve decided to use the third one… the most effective, but also the most dangerous,”

and with a slight wave of his hand, The two dissapear.

The others gasped—Hannah stepped forward instinctively, Minseok’s expression tensed—and just as they opened their mouths to speak, a large screen appeared in the air above them, showing a forest with thick trees, floating island, and clouds below the roots, a dungeon called Skyland’s Forest and it’s part of the hidden dimension within the Ethereal Grounds that only Seojun had control over.

Inside the forest, Nayoung and Jinhyu landed on soft grass but quickly looked around with alarm in their eyes, the sky above them split between sunshine and storm clouds, and the air was filled with the sounds of creatures moving between branches and leaves,

but what made them freeze was not the forest itself, it was the feeling—they felt pressure, like something was watching them from every direction, something powerful, and that feeling of calm they had in the grounds before was gone.

Jinhyu stood up first, pulling Nayoung to her feet, and looked around cautiously as he whispered, “Where are we…?”

Nayoung swallowed, her hand clutching the edge of her shirt tightly, “I… I don’t know.”

Back in the real Ethereal Grounds, Seojun looked at the screen with a cold expression, explaining to the others,

“They’re inside Skyland’s Forest Dungeon, but it exists only within this place under my rules. This dungeon doesn’t appear in the real world’s maps, and it’s designed to awaken survival instinct… to help them feel real danger. Only when you feel your life truly on the edge, when you feel like you must fight or you will die, can you force your body to break its limits.”

Inside the screen, Nayoung and Jinhyu began walking slowly as the leaves above rustled with unnatural movement, and then suddenly, a beast jumped from behind the trees, its body long like a panther but covered in bark and moss, with glowing yellow eyes and sharp claws made of crystal bark, and it roared at them.

Jinhyu grabbed a stick from the ground, standing between the beast and Nayoung, shouting, “Run if you have to! I’ll hold it back—!”

But Nayoung didn’t move, she stood frozen, shaking as her legs refused to run, her eyes wide and locked on the beast that now rushed at them like a flash of green wind, and as Jinhyu swung his stick, it broke instantly on the beast’s body and he was thrown to the side, hitting a tree hard with a grunt of pain.

“Jinhyu!” Nayoung screamed, finally able to move as she rushed to him, but the beast turned again and roared, clawing the ground and charging toward them, and at that moment, both of them felt it—real fear, the kind that made your whole body feel cold, the kind that made you question if you would survive another second.

Minseok gritted his teeth as he watched the screen, muttering, “They’re not ready for this…”

But Seojun shook his head slightly, his voice quiet but firm, “They have to be. The gate to awakening only opens when you face yourself in your weakest moment.”

Nayoung helped Jinhyu to his feet as the beast growled, circling them slowly, and Jinhyu coughed out, “We’re going to die here… unless…”
