Chapter 404: Chapter 402: Nayoung vs. Seojun
Suddenly, a loud clash! echoed through the Ethereal Grounds, making everyone turn their heads.
When they saw what caused the noise. It was Seojun’s dagger and Nayoung’s giant scissors colliding midair, both of them moving fast.
Nayoung was smiling brightly, her eyes full of excitement enjoying every moment of the fight. She spun around, swinging the scissor wide in a big arc, aiming straight at Seojun’s shoulder.
But Seojun dodged smoothly, stepping to the side and countering with a quick stab of his dagger. Nayoung laughed and jumped back, twirling her scissors again. She twisted her body, using the momentum to swing only one blade of the scissor like a sword, fast and sharp.
“Woah…” Elshienne whispered, amazed at how fluid Nayoung’s movement was.
“She’s really good,” Minseok said, impressed. “Even if those scissors are big, she makes them dance.”
Seojun dashed forward again. This time, he lowered his body and went under Nayoung’s swing, aiming for her side. But Nayoung quickly spun her scissors and blocked his dagger just in time, the sound of metal hitting metal ringing again.
“Come on, Professor!” Nayoung shouted with a laugh. “I’m not that weak!”
As he moved behind her in a blink, aiming another strike But Nayoung spun the scissors behind her back, blocking it again without turning around. Her smile widened. She was breathing heavily, but her excitement didn’t stop.
She suddenly leapt into the air, lifted the scissors above her head, and slammed them down with full force. The ground cracked where Seojun had been standing a second before—but he had already moved, fast like a shadow.
Seojun then appeared behind Nayoung and tapped her on the shoulder with the flat side of his dagger. “You left your back open.”
Nayoung froze, blinked, then slowly turned her head. “Ehhh?! Again?! I thought I covered that!”
She sighed, but then grinned. “Still, I lasted longer this time, right?”
Seojun gave a small nod. “Yes. Much better.”
The others clapped lightly, impressed by the fight. Nayoung stood straight and puffed her chest, clearly proud of herself.
“Next time, I’ll land a hit on you, Professor!” she declared boldly.
“We’ll see,” Seojun replied, already turning back to the others. “Now, Again”
Nathan, Elshienne, and Sion all looked at each other. After what they just saw, they knew they were in for a hard, serious training ahead.
Nayoung and Seojun clashed again, the sound of metal ringing through the air. Nayoung dashed forward, swinging her giant scissors in a wide arc, laughing as she moved. Seojun stepped sideways, blocking her strike with his small but sturdy dagger, his movements smooth and precise.
Clang!Clang!
The blades kept hitting, neither side letting up.
Sion, still trying to stay steady under the heavy gravity of the Ethereal Grounds, whispered as he watched, “Just how sturdy is that dagger…?”
Hannah, sitting nearby and helping Elshienne stay upright, heard him and smiled. “It’s amazing, right? That dagger isn’t made from mana. Professor doesn’t really talk much about himself, but Sui said… that dagger is from here.”
Sion frowned, confused. “Sui?”
As if summoned by the name, a small voice chirped right behind Hannah, “Kyuu~ Hello! I’m Sui!”
Sion turned his head—and immediately lost control of his body. Thud! His face hit the ground flat.
“Hehehe kyuu~ I’m Master’s tamed beast! One of them! How about you?”Sui bounced closer, his jelly-like form jiggling, and extended a slimy arm toward Sion like a handshake.
Still lying on the ground, Sion pushed himself up with effort, brushing his hair out of his face. “Obviously…Student.”
Hannah giggled lightly behind her hand. “Sui means what’s your name?”
Sion sighed and muttered, “It’s Sion. Sion Quinn.”

He reached out and grabbed the slimy hand. He expected it to be sticky or gross, but—surprisingly—it wasn’t. It was smooth, cool, and even a bit comforting to hold.
“Kyuuu~ Nice to meet you, Sion Quinn!” Sui said cheerfully, bouncing once.
Nathan, watching all this while trying to keep himself upright, Elshienne laughed too, finally starting to balance her body better under the gravity.
“You get used to Sui after a while,” Hannah said warmly.
Minseok added from the side, still seated and resting, “More like Sui doesn’t give you a choice. He’ll talk to you either way.”
Sui spun in a little circle, clearly proud of that fact. “Kyuu~! I love friends!”
Meanwhile, Nayoung was still going at it with Seojun, her movements slightly slower now but still full of energy. “I’m not done yet!” she shouted, swinging her scissors in a fast combo.
Seojun caught the attack with a twist of his dagger, locking her blades in place before he stepped back.
“Your strength is fine,” he said calmly, “but your feet give away your next move.”
“Ughh! You saw that?!” Nayoung groaned, puffing her cheeks.
He nodded once. “We’ll work on it.”
Nayoung took a deep breath, her chest rising and falling as she steadied herself. The others had stopped what they were doing and now watched her closely, their eyes shifting between her and Seojun.
With a confident smirk, she called out, “Watch me, Professor.”
Without warning, she hurled her massive scissors straight at Seojun. The blade spun in the air with terrifying speed—but Seojun simply stepped to the side, calm and unfazed, letting it fly past him.
Before anyone could react, Nayoung vanished from her spot—her figure becoming a blur. Then, with a burst of wind, she appeared on the other side of the field, catching the scissors cleanly out of the air.
“H-Huh?!” Minseok sat up, eyes wide.
“Did she just—catch it on the other side?” Hannah gasped.
“She’s… fast,” Elshienne whispered.
Nayoung didn’t stop. As soon as she stepped up, she gripped her scissors tight and twisted her stance.
She dashed forward again, this time dragging the blade along the ground until she stopped short in front of Seojun.
With a sudden lunge, she started stabbing rapidly, her arms a blur as she pierced the air again and again with precision.
“Piercing Skill: Thousand Jab Scissors!” she shouted, her smile wide with excitement.
To the others, it looked like her single weapon had become dozens. Afterimages trailed behind each strike, like a storm of giant scissors attacking from all sides.
But Seojun remained calm. He stepped back, his feet barely making sound, his dagger moving with ease—clang! clang! clang!—each of Nayoung’s furious strikes was deflected one after another.
Sion’s eyes narrowed, “That’s impossible…”
He watched closely, trying to make sense of it. Seojun wasn’t using brute force. He wasn’t dodging wildly. He was simply moving just enough. Each time, just enough to avoid the full force, just enough to meet her scissors at the right angle.
And yet, it looked like Nayoung’s weapon had split into five… ten… twenty blades, all striking at once.
“How is he blocking all of them…?” Sion murmured,
“It’s like… he sees it all in slow motion,” Jinhyu added, shaking his head in disbelief.
Nayoung jumped back, panting, still smiling. “Whew… okay… you’re really too strong, Professor. This skill is too tiring.”
Seojun didn’t reply, just lowered his dagger and gave her a small nod.
But even that made Nayoung beam. Hannah leaned close to Sion and whispered, “That was her best move… and he blocked all of it.”
