Chapter 414: Chapter 412: Alert
Seojun stepped closer to the center of the clearing. His footsteps were light, barely making a sound against the moss-covered stone beneath him.

In the middle of the hilltop, a girl was swinging a wooden sword through the air. Her movements were smooth but strong. Each strike had power behind it, as if she was fighting someone only she could see.

“Areum Jung,” Seojun called calmly.

At the sound of his voice, Areum flinched. She spun around quickly, her eyes widening for a second—but then she jumped back, Her feet slid into a firm stance, and her eyes locked on him with suspicion.

“You!” she shouted sharply. “You came back again?! How many times do we need to tell your boss we’re not selling this island!”

Seojun blinked, caught off guard. “I’m not with them, I’m from—”

Before he could finish his words, Areum lifted her sword higher. Her arms moved fast, her hands now at face height on the side, the blade pointed straight at Seojun’s eyebrows. Her stance was steady, her eyes narrowed with anger.

“I don’t care which boss sent you this time,” she said coldly, her voice low and dangerous. “I should’ve killed all of you when I had the chance… but I listened to Grandpa.”

The wind blew softly between them, the trees whispering around the clearing. Seojun didn’t move. He looked at her sword, then back at her face.

She was serious.

Her grip was firm.

Her mana was real.

And the pain behind her voice was something he had heard before—from others who had been hurt, betrayed, or pushed too far.

Seojun stayed calm, his voice steady.

“I’m not here to take your island,” he said. “I’m not here to hurt anyone.”

The sword didn’t lower. Areum’s eyes remained sharp, watching his every move, her body ready to attack at any sign of threat.

Areum’s breath caught in her throat. ‘How… How come I didn’t hear him?’ she thought, her heart beating faster. ‘I didn’t even sense his presence. No one has ever been able to sneak up on me.’

Her fingers gripped the sword tighter, the wood creaking under the pressure. She stared at the man in front of her—calm, unmoving, just standing there with both hands in plain view. And yet… there was not a single opening.

No shift in weight. No twitch in his eyes.No hint of fear or arrogance.

‘Just who is this guy?!’ her mind screamed. But she pushed the feeling aside. Now wasn’t the time to hesitate. She had to protect the village. She had to protect this island.

“Go home,” Areum said, her voice firm and sharp. “Don’t ever come back to this island.”

Seojun let out a soft sigh. “I told you,” he said, looking straight into her eyes, “I’m not with them.”

“Liar!” Areum shouted, her anger breaking through. “If you won’t leave, I’ll make you!”

She took a deep breath. Her mana gathered instantly—rushing down through her legs, her arms, her fingers. Her feet grew heavier, but it wasn’t weight. It was force. Her legs were charged, ready to burst.

Her grip on the sword changed, her fingers adjusting as if the weapon became part of her. Mana flowed into the wooden blade. It glowed faintly. Sparks danced along the edges. Her hair fluttered behind her as her body became lighter—no, faster.

“Leave our island alone,” she whispered.

Then she moved.

So fast, she vanished from sight for a moment, only to reappear right in front of Seojun, her sword raised in a clean strike aimed for his shoulder.

But—

Time slowed. To her eyes, it was like a strange dream.

Seojun’s hand moved not even fast, His fingers tapped the flat of her sword.

Plick.

In a blink, her sword shattered. The mana holding it together broke apart. Tiny shards of blade scattered through the air like pieces of glass in the sunlight.

“What—?!” Areum gasped, her eyes wide with shock. But before she could step back, Seojun’s leg lifted.

He turned slightly, then launched a side-kick at her torso—not full power, just enough.

Areum reacted fast, crossing both arms in front of her body. She blocked it. But the force still sent her flying back. Her body slammed into a tree with a heavy thud. Her back hit the bark hard, and her lungs lost their air. She dropped to the ground and coughed—blood staining her lips.

‘H-How?’ she thought, her arms shaking. She looked at the broken handle in her hand. The blade was gone.

Then, she looked up—and froze. Seojun was already standing in front of her. His hands at his sides.

Areum’s throat felt dry. “Y-You…” she stammered. Her pride wanted to shout again—but her body knew the truth now.

“W-Who are you…?”

Seojun looked at the girl in front of him—wounded, He knelt down on one knee to match her height, and without saying a word, he placed one hand over her arm and the other just above her stomach, where she had taken most of the hit.

A soft, gentle light glowed from his palm, and in only a few seconds, warmth spread through Areum’s body like flowing water. Her pain faded quickly, her breathing steadied, and her broken muscles and bones quietly repaired themselves as if they had never been injured at all.

Areum moved her fingers, then her arm, blinking several times in disbelief. She twisted her waist a little, her back no longer stiff or in pain. Her eyes widened as she checked herself.

‘That kick… my spine could have been broken… my arms should’ve been useless…’ she thought, still stunned. ‘But he healed me—in just five seconds?!’

She looked up slowly, her mouth slightly open as she stared at the man who now stood calmly in front of her, The wind blew softly across the northern hill, moving the grass around their feet.

“I’m Professor Jihoon,” Seojun said plainly, his voice steady but calm, “from White Moon Academy. I’m here to persuade you attend the academy again”

Areum’s eyebrows furrowed as she stood up quickly, her body light and perfectly healed now, yet her thoughts confused and sharp. “Impossible,” she said firmly, not hiding the disbelief in her voice. “There’s no professor like you in that academy.”

She narrowed her eyes, pointing at him with her sword handle. “White Moon Academy only cares about grades and theories. They focus on brains, not bodies. They don’t teach students how to fight properly. They don’t even train mana the right way! So don’t lie to me. You’re not from there.”

Her words came out fast and angry, but behind it, there was something else—frustration, maybe even hurt.

Areum took a step forward. “If there were someone like you in that academy… someone who knows how to fight and heal… someone who could stand still and still be strong—then why do they keep letting people like me fall through the cracks?”
