Chapter 835: Chapter 835 – Fear the Unknown
Broken stood still, his gaze sweeping over the countless players that had now encircled him. They didn’t hold back at all, did they?
If anything, this only proved they were taking him seriously. And honestly? That made things even more interesting for him.
He wasn’t worried about running out of resources before taking them down—far from it. If things ever got too messy, he had plenty of ways to disappear from the battlefield. With just a thought, he could slip into his Moonlight Dimension and vanish without a trace, reappearing safely back in Slumdon Town.
But tonight… he didn’t feel like running.
As he had discussed with Maylock earlier, this entire situation was a deliberate provocation. The people here were trying to annoy the Dissidia Kingdom—and more importantly, him, the ruler of Slumdon Town.
They wanted to bait Slumdon Town into making the first move, to create an excuse for war.
But of course, things weren’t that simple. Whoever struck first would be blamed for starting the conflict, and Broken wasn’t about to hand them that victory.
That’s where Tenebris came in.
As long as he was in this form, Constantine wouldn’t have any justification to direct his anger at Slumdon Town. Because in the end… he would never be able to find out who Tenebris really was.
Constantine was about to be trapped in his own endless frustration—a Wrath Champion consumed by wrath he had no way to unleash.
Fitting, really. His blessing suited him perfectly.
[Eternal Flame1 – Grim Reaper (Conditional Active Skill) activated]
A sudden shift overtook Broken’s form. His dark robe billowed violently, shadows wrapping around him like a second skin, fully concealing his body beneath the darkness. Yet, despite the transformation, his name still glowed ominously above his head—Tenebris.
Then, he activated Veil of Tenebrous, reducing his shadow-based ability cooldowns by 20% and granting him five charges of short teleportation, each recharging every 30 seconds.
Without hesitation, he drew his Legendary-grade weapon—The Soul Drainer Scythe—a weapon bound directly to his Eternal Flame form. The moment it materialized in his grasp, a sinister red glow pulsed along its curved blade, feeding off the energy of the battlefield.
With a flick of his fingers, Broken summoned his Vampiric Command Card1, unleashing hundreds of bats into the air. Their screeching cries echoed in the night as they swarmed, each one carrying a variety of skills designed to turn this fight into a bloodbath.
Across from him, Constantine had already drawn his sword, a confident smirk plastered across his face.
“Attack! All of you! Kill him!” he bellowed.
The entire battlefield erupted into chaos.
Knights and players charged at once, weapons raised, spells igniting the air with bursts of magic. Arrows rained down, bolts of lightning crackled, and countless blades gleamed under the moonlight as they swung toward Tenebris.
But before they could even reach him—
He was gone.
With a blur of motion, Broken dashed forward at a speed beyond everyone’s reaction, his figure flickering like a shadow.
SLASH!
A knight at the front barely had time to register the incoming attack before Broken’s scythe tore through his armor, slicing him cleanly in two.
“GHAAAAAARGH!”
Another player attempted to retaliate, lunging forward with a massive warhammer—
But Broken was already behind him.
SWIPE!
The Soul Drainer Scythe cut through his neck in a single motion, his head dropping to the ground with a sickening thud.

“W-WHAT?! HE’S TOO FAST!” one of the players screamed.
“DON’T LET HIM GET CLOSE! USE AREA SPELLS! PIN HIM DOWN!” another shouted, voice laced with desperation.
But it was too late.
The hundreds of bats surged like a black tidal wave, spreading through the battlefield and diving straight at the enemy players.
“AAAAARGH! GET THEM OFF ME!”
“I CAN’T MOVE! THEY’RE DRAINING MY HP!”
The bats latched onto them, sinking their fangs into exposed flesh, sucking away their life force. Some players tried to swat them away, but each time they killed one, another took its place—a relentless swarm of death.
SHRRRRK!
Another scythe swing.
Another body fell.
“HE’S SLAUGHTERING US!”
One of the mages desperately activated a barrier spell, forming a wall of glowing energy to shield their forces.
But Broken teleported behind them.
SLASH!
His scythe ripped through the caster’s spine, ending the spell before it could fully form.
“NGH—!!” The mage collapsed with a choked gasp.
“DAMN IT! SOMEBODY STOP HIM!” Constantine roared.
But there was no stopping him.
Tenebris was already among them.
And the massacre had only just begun.
At the same time, players who weren’t directly involved with Constantine were busy recording the battle, some even broadcasting it live. Within moments, the footage began circulating online, igniting a wildfire of reactions from viewers across the community.
“This is insane! It’s so rare to witness something like this—an unknown player named Tenebris suddenly appearing and fighting dozens of players at once. And look at him—he’s absolutely brutal! This is incredible!”
“Could he be a Divine Champion too? Damn, I’m so curious right now!”
“Do you think he could stand a chance against Frostedge? Why hasn’t he ever shown up in the Eternal Challenge?”
“I NEED to see this guy fight Broken. That would be insane! This dude goes full melee with no summons, while Broken fights with an entire army of them!”
“Yeah, this player is so badass and honorable! I can’t help but admire him!”
“Where has he been all this time? Why is he only showing up now? He’s just… too unreal!”
The battlefield was no longer just a place of battle—it had become a graveyard of fear.
The few players who had survived Broken’s onslaught were now fleeing in terror, desperate to escape the same fate as their fallen comrades. The unstoppable Grim Reaper had come for them, and none of them wanted to be his next victim.
Even Constantine, who had once stood with arrogant confidence, was now struggling just to keep up. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t land a single hit on Broken.
He was simply too fast.
“Run! We have to get out of here!”
Panic spread like wildfire as players abandoned the fight, bolting in every direction.
For the first time, Constantine’s expression wavered.
The same man who had swaggered into battle with absolute confidence now had a trace of panic in his eyes.
“Retreat! RETREAT!” he finally yelled.
It wasn’t just about his pride anymore—if too many knights from Valantar City died here, it would cause a massive loss for his side. A disaster he wasn’t willing to take responsibility for.
And so, one by one, the knights and players turned tail and ran. Even those who had been busy recording the fight just moments ago quickly logged out, vanishing from the battlefield before they could become his next target.
As the chaos settled, Broken finally lowered his weapon, watching as the once fearless warriors of Valantar City retreated into the darkness.
Even as they fled, some kept glancing over their shoulders, as if terrified that he might chase them down and claim their lives before they could escape.
His adrenaline still surged from the fight, the thrill of battle pulsing through his veins.
But he knew he had achieved his goal.
He had deliberately held back from slaughtering too many knights—because this was never about wiping them out completely.
This was about sending a message.
If he had killed too many, it would have escalated into something far worse—a war that he wasn’t ready to deal with.
And so, as the last of the knights disappeared into the night and the battlefield fell silent, Broken took a slow, deep breath.
It was over.
For now.
Time to head back.
