Chapter 341: Heroine’s Former Enemy, Nyx I
Nyx had became a free spirit, someone who found amusement in even the most dire of situations, after she got free from the will of seven divine beast.
So, when she found herself alone in the Verdant Labyrinth, separated from her companions, she wasn’t panicked. If anything, she was excited.
“This place is like a giant playground,” she mused, brushing her long hair out of her face. She took a deep breath, inhaling the earthy scent of moss and flowers. “I mean, sure, it’s creepy, and the trees look like they might try to eat me, but hey, I’ve faced worse.”
Nyx spun around in a slow circle, examining her surroundings. The labyrinth seemed alive, almost sentient, with the way the branches twisted and reached toward her as if trying to grab her attention. The path ahead was lined with strange glowing plants, their colors shifting from green to blue to purple.
“Well,” Nyx said to no one in particular, “if I’m going to be lost, I might as well have some fun.”
She started walking down the path, her footsteps light and purposeful. It wasn’t long before she came across her first challenge: a small, bubbling stream cutting across her path. The water was crystal clear, and tiny fish darted back and forth in the shallows.
“Looks harmless enough,” Nyx muttered, crouching down to inspect it. She reached out to touch the water, but the moment her fingers grazed the surface, the stream seemed to explode.
Water shot up into the air, forming into the shape of a humanoid figure. The creature was made entirely of liquid, its “skin” shimmering like sunlight on a lake. It had no face, but Nyx could feel it watching her.
“Ah, a water guardian,” she said, grinning. “Let’s see what you’ve got.”
The creature didn’t waste time. It lunged at her, a wave of water crashing toward her with surprising speed. Nyx darted to the side, laughing as the water splashed harmlessly against a nearby tree.
“You’re going to have to do better than that!” she taunted, pulling out her daggers.
The guardian attacked again, this time sending tendrils of water snaking toward her ankles. Nyx leaped into the air, flipping gracefully over the attack. She landed on a low-hanging branch and stuck her tongue out at the creature.
“Oh, come on, you’re too slow!” she said, twirling one of her daggers.
The guardian seemed to hesitate for a moment before changing tactics. It began to whirl around, its body spinning faster and faster until it transformed into a miniature cyclone. The winds it generated whipped at Nyx’s hair and clothes, but she held her ground.
“Now that’s more like it,” she said, her grin widening.
With a burst of speed, Nyx launched herself toward the spinning creature, her daggers flashing in the dim light. She struck the cyclone at its center, her blades slicing through the watery mass. The guardian let out a sound like rushing waves before collapsing into a puddle at her feet.
“Well, that was fun,” Nyx said, shaking the water off her daggers. She glanced at the puddle, which was already seeping back into the ground. “Thanks for the warm-up!”
She continued on her way, humming a cheerful tune.

The next part of the labyrinth was even stranger. The plants here were larger and more vibrant, their colors almost too bright to be natural. Nyx reached out to touch one of the flowers, only to yelp in surprise when it moved.
The flower’s petals folded inward, revealing a set of sharp, thorny teeth. It snapped at her fingers, and Nyx jumped back, laughing.
“Okay, no touching the flowers,” she said. “Got it.”
As she navigated through the strange, otherworldly landscape, Nyx began to notice something odd. The plants weren’t just moving—they were reacting to her presence. Leaves would rustle as she passed, and vines would shift to block her path.
“It’s like this place has a mind of its own,” she said, pausing to study a particularly aggressive-looking vine. “Creepy. But also kinda cool.”
She decided to test her theory. Picking up a small rock, she tossed it at the vine. The plant reacted instantly, curling up to avoid the projectile.
“Interesting,” Nyx said, tapping her chin. “You’re not just mindless plants, are you? You’re like… living traps.”
The realization made her grin. She loved a good challenge, and this labyrinth was turning out to be much more entertaining than she’d expected.
—
It wasn’t long before she stumbled upon her next obstacle: a massive tree standing in the center of a clearing. The tree’s trunk was so wide that Nyx doubted she could wrap her arms around it even if she tried. Its bark was covered in glowing runes, and its branches stretched high into the sky, disappearing into the canopy.
At the base of the tree was a door.

“Well, well, well,” Nyx said, stepping closer. “What do we have here?”
The door was carved with intricate patterns that seemed to shift and change as she looked at them. There was no handle, but there was a small indentation in the center, shaped like a handprint.
“Do I touch it?” Nyx asked herself, tilting her head. “Probably a bad idea. But when has that ever stopped me?”
She placed her hand on the indentation.
The moment she did, the runes on the tree’s bark flared to life, glowing bright green. The door creaked open, revealing a dark, spiraling staircase leading downward.
“Okay, this is officially the coolest place ever,” Nyx said, stepping inside.
The staircase seemed to go on forever, but Nyx wasn’t bothered. She was too curious to stop now. When she finally reached the bottom, she found herself in a circular chamber filled with mirrors.
The mirrors lined the walls, each one reflecting a different version of her. Some showed her as a child, others as an old woman. One mirror even showed her wearing a crown, sitting on a throne made of bones.
“Well, that’s unsettling,” Nyx said, crossing her arms. “What’s the point of all this?”
As if in response, the mirrors began to shimmer. The reflections shifted, and Nyx found herself staring at images: Maris, Lucan, Virnda, Bing. Each of them were like him, alone, finding ways.
“Looks like they are having fun, well… This place is big, so let explore more.” As she thought, the door behind her creaked open, revealing a new path.
Nyx stepped through.
—
The new path was darker and quieter than the rest of the labyrinth. The air felt heavy, and Nyx couldn’t shake the feeling that she was being watched.
She didn’t have to wait long for an answer. A shadowy figure appeared in front of her, its form shifting and flickering like smoke.
“Who are you?” Nyx demanded, gripping her daggers.
The figure didn’t respond. Instead, it raised a hand, and Nyx suddenly found herself frozen in place.
“What the—?” she started, but her voice was cut off as the figure stepped closer. It reached out and touched her forehead, and Nyx’s vision went black.
—
When she woke up, she was lying in a field of flowers. The sun was shining, and birds were singing in the distance. For a moment, Nyx thought she was dreaming.
But then she remembered the shadowy figure, and the labyrinth.
“What just happened?” she muttered, sitting up.
The flowers around her were glowing faintly, their petals swaying as if in a gentle breeze. Nyx felt a strange sense of calm, despite the confusion swirling in her mind.
She shake her head and she decided to find a way out, and have fun along the way.
“And, I should unseal,” Nyx said as she her body glowed, the chain around her body appeared, and the chains break apart. She regain her space and time ability.
