Chapter 348: Heroine’s Husband, Lucan II
Lucan strolled through the Verdant Labyrinth, the faint rustling of leaves his only companion. The small squirrel perched on his shoulder chattered incessantly as if it were critiquing every step he took.
“I told you I wouldn’t name you,” Lucan said, glancing at the squirrel. It tilted its head, chirping in defiance. “Fine. If you insist, how about ‘Nutcase’? You seem appropriately chaotic.”
The squirrel squeaked indignantly and swatted his cheek with its fluffy tail.
“Alright, alright,” Lucan muttered, rubbing his face. “How about… Orbit? You seem to revolve around nonsense.”
Orbit chittered approvingly, spinning in place on his shoulder.
As they rounded a corner, the sound of faint laughter echoed through the labyrinth, growing louder with every step. It wasn’t the kind of laughter that set one at ease—it was high-pitched, maniacal, and a little too enthusiastic.
Lucan’s calm expression faltered slightly. “Something tells me this isn’t going to be pleasant.”
Before Lucan could take another step, a figure dropped from the canopy above, landing in a dramatic crouch.
She was… unique. Her hair was a vibrant rainbow, styled into two enormous pigtails that seemed to defy gravity. Her face was painted in mismatched colors, one cheek blue, the other pink, with an oversized grin drawn in white over her lips. Her outfit was a chaotic blend of jester and princess: a corset with bells dangling from the edges, one leg clad in striped tights, the other bare and painted like a candy cane. On her feet were mismatched shoes—one a combat boot, the other a glittery heel.
Lucan stared, his usual calm barely masking his confusion.
“Who—”
“HELLOOOO, handsome!” the girl interrupted, her voice a sing-song melody. She flipped into a handstand, then sprang upright. “It’s me, your future wife!”
Lucan blinked. “I’m sorry, what?”
The girl struck a pose, her bells jingling. “I’m the Magnificent Jubilee, Queen of Chaos and Collector of Handsome Men! And you, my dear, are my next acquisition!”
Orbit squeaked, covering its face with its tiny paws.
Lucan pinched the bridge of his nose. “I think there’s been a misunderstanding. I’m already married.”
Jubilee gasped dramatically, clutching her chest. “Married? That’s wonderful news! I adore challenges.” She skipped toward him, her bells jingling. “Don’t worry, I’m great at sharing. Your wife can join the harem too! She gets handsome I have, I get you—it’s a win-win!”
Lucan’s composure cracked, his brow twitching. “No. Absolutely not.”
Jubilee pouted, leaning in uncomfortably close. “Why not? I’m adorable, fun, and super flexible!” To prove her point, she bent backward until her hands touched the ground, grinning up at him.
Lucan stepped back, a flicker of irritation in his usually calm demeanor. “I said no. Go find someone else to bother.”
Jubilee’s grin turned mischievous. “Oh, playing hard to get? I love it!” She snapped her fingers, and the vines around them erupted into a colorful maze of balloons, confetti, and streamers. “Looks like I’ll just have to make you mine by force!”
Lucan sighed. “Why is it never easy?”
Jubilee flipped forward, summoning an enormous hammer made of shimmering confetti. She swung it with surprising speed, forcing Lucan to dodge.
“Your reflexes are amazing!” she cheered, spinning the hammer like a baton. “This is going to be so much fun!”
Lucan’s calm voice cut through her excitement. “Fun isn’t the word I’d use.” He raised his hand, summoning a torrent of water that surged toward her.
Jubilee giggled, twirling the hammer. “Nope!” She smashed the water with the hammer, and it exploded into a shower of harmless glitter.
Lucan’s brow furrowed. “What kind of power is that?”
Jubilee posed dramatically. “I control the power of Party Physics! Balloons that defy gravity, glitter explosions, confetti shields—you name it!”
Orbit squeaked nervously, hiding behind Lucan’s neck.
Lucan muttered, “I’m beginning to understand why this labyrinth is testing my patience.”

Jubilee lunged again, this time tossing a handful of confetti that turned into a swarm of tiny, laughing imps. They darted around Lucan, pulling at his robes and yanking at Orbit’s tail.
Lucan waved a hand, summoning a burst of light magic that dissolved the imps. “Annoying.”
Jubilee clapped. “Oooh, shiny! Do it again!”
Lucan decided to change tactics. With a flick of his wrist, he sent a shadow tendril snaking toward her, aiming to bind her movements.
Jubilee cartwheeled away, laughing. “Too slow, handsome!” She conjured a trampoline out of thin air, bouncing high into the air. From above, she threw what appeared to be a balloon.
Lucan instinctively dodged, only for the balloon to explode into a shower of sticky, pink goo that trapped his feet.
“Creative,” he admitted, summoning a blade of water to cut himself free.
Jubilee landed gracefully, twirling her hammer. “Thanks! I like to keep things interesting.”
Lucan sighed, his calm façade cracking further. “You’re relentless.”
“And you’re adorable when you’re frustrated!” she teased, sticking out her tongue.
Lucan launched another attack, this time combining water and shadow magic into a spiraling spear. Jubilee blocked it with a shield made of spinning pinwheels, deflecting the attack harmlessly.
“Wheee!” she cheered, spinning with the pinwheels.
The battle continued, with Lucan unleashing precise and powerful attacks, only for Jubilee to counter them in increasingly absurd ways.
When he summoned a torrent of ice shards, she turned them into rainbow-colored popsicles.
When he created a wall of light, she covered it with graffiti that read “Jubilee Love Lucan Forever!”
Lucan was breathing heavily now, not from exhaustion but sheer exasperation.
Jubilee leaned on her hammer, tilting her head. “You’re good, I’ll give you that. But are you great? Let’s see how far you can go, handsome!”
She clapped her hands, and the entire battlefield transformed into a giant game board. Dice the size of houses rolled around, and squares on the ground lit up randomly, triggering explosions of vines, fireworks, or pudding.
Lucan stepped carefully, dodging each hazard with calm precision. “This is ridiculous.”
Jubilee giggled. “Ridiculously fun!”
Lucan paused, assessing the situation. He was skilled, yes, but Jubilee’s chaotic powers defied logic. No matter how calculated his moves were, she always found a way to counter him with sheer unpredictability.
His gaze darkened. “If this keeps up, I’ll have no choice.”
Orbit squeaked, looking up at him nervously.
