Chapter 353: Heroine in Vardant Labyrinth III
Maris stood her ground, sweat beading on her forehead as the vines continued to lash out at her. The air was thick with the scent of earth and vegetation, and each time the woman struck, the labyrinth itself seemed to pulse in rhythm with her movements, lending her more power.
The woman’s smile was cold, unwavering, as if she had all the time in the world to toy with Maris. Yet, despite the relentless assault, Maris didn’t show fear. If anything, her resolve grew stronger.
She could feel the labyrinth working against her. The plants, the vines, even the tiny insects buzzing around—all seemed to answer to the woman’s call. She wasn’t just controlling the surroundings; she was one with them, and they obeyed her unconditionally.
But Maris wasn’t the Saint for nothing. With a deep breath, she focused on her reality-bending ability. If the labyrinth is her ally, then it should be my ally too.
Her hands glowed with radiant light as she raised them high. Maris’s eyes narrowed with concentration. She had the power to warp the very fabric of reality. The vines, the flowers, the insects—they all depended on the woman. But now, Maris would turn them into her own creations, something that would work in her favor.
She reached out with her magic and, with a single thought, willed the plants around her to transform. The vines that had been lashing out at her twisted and morphed into harmless strings of light. The flowers bloomed into sharp, crystalline structures. The insects, which had been buzzing incessantly, were now transformed into floating lights that flickered in the air like stars.
The woman’s cold eyes widened for a fraction of a second, a flicker of surprise crossing her face.
“Interesting,” she murmured, tilting her head. “I didn’t think you had such control over your abilities.” Her voice held an edge of admiration now, though it was still just as chilling. “I must admit, you’re more talented than I thought, Maris.”
A smug smile curled on Maris’s lips. I can do this. I’ve got this under control.
With a swift motion, Maris raised her hand again, manipulating the very plants she had just transformed. The vines she had turned into light swirled around her, ready to strike. The flowers she’d made into sharp crystals formed a protective barrier, and the insects—now ethereal, glowing lights—danced like small swords, ready to act on her command.
She moved forward with confidence, her power growing as she reshaped the world around her. She had taken control, turned the labyrinth’s power into her own.
But then, something unexpected happened. The plants and insects that Maris had transformed began to resist her command. The glowing lights swirled away from her grasp, defying her will. The vines she had reshaped into pure light no longer obeyed her, instead twisting away and curling back toward the woman.
Maris’s eyes widened in confusion. What’s happening?
The woman stepped forward, her smile widening just a fraction, and raised her hand. “I can control everything, no matter what they are.”
The moment the words left her lips, everything shifted. The plants Maris had transformed, the very creations she had willed into being, stopped responding to her. They fell into line with the woman’s command, obeying her as if they had never been hers to control in the first place.
Maris’s chest tightened as she watched the plants, the flowers, the insects—everything—revert back to their original form, aligning themselves with the woman’s will.
The woman didn’t wait for Maris to process this. With a flick of her finger, Maris’s body moved against her will. Her legs took a step forward, her arms raised as if she were a puppet on strings.
Maris tried to resist, her magic flaring as she tried to regain control over herself, but it was as if the very air around her had turned to stone. She couldn’t move.
What is this?
Maris’s heart raced in panic. She couldn’t fight the pull. The woman had done something—something that controlled her very body, overriding her magic, overriding her will.
She locked eyes with the woman, whose smile was now full of satisfaction.
“I told you,” the woman said, her voice low and calm, “I can control everything. It’s not just the plants or the vines. It’s you as well.”
Maris’s body jerked again, and she was forced to her knees, her mind screaming for control, but nothing happened. She couldn’t break free. The labyrinth—her own power—seemed useless against this strange, oppressive force.
The woman’s cold eyes glittered with a knowing gleam as she stepped closer. “You thought you were the one in control. But you’ve only scratched the surface of what true power is. Your reality-bending is impressive, but in the end, it can’t compete with my control over everything around me.”
Maris could feel the power pressing against her, suffocating her magic, rendering her helpless. For the first time, she felt like she was losing—trapped in a labyrinth she could not escape.
No… I can’t let this be the end.
With the last ounce of strength she could muster, Maris tried to focus her mind. The woman’s magic, whatever it was, had taken control of her body, but her mind was still her own. She wouldn’t give in. She wouldn’t surrender.
But it was not because her will was strong. It was simply because the woman didn’t want to.
“Maris… You’re too young, yet you have such power,” the woman said. “You forced me to use power beyond the limit I had set for you. You should be proud of yourself.”
Suddenly, Maris was able to move as she wished. She looked up and saw the woman’s smile.

“I hope you become more talented than my daughter one day… We will meet again, and at that time, I hope I can fight you with all my powers,” she said as her body began disappearing.
“W-what is your name?” Maris asked, stunned.
“My name… well… the world knows me as The Strongest Being in Existence.”
And then, she disappeared.
