Chapter 407: Heroine’s Husband with Assistent I
One morning, Lucan was getting ready to go to his office. He decided that he needed money to make some animated films. He wanted to make the stories he wrote into animated films.
So he opened an animation studio. It’s been a year since then, and his studio has become somewhat successful. In the next two years, Lucan was sure he could make the best animated movie.
Currently, Lucan is waiting for Katie, who has decided to work for him. Katie wants a job, and Lucan is happy to give her an assistant position at his studio.
Lucan was on the edge of the bed, adjusting the cufflinks on his shirt.
The door creaked open, and Maris stepped in, holding Leira’s hand. Maris. Her long pink hair was tied in a loose braid that draped over her shoulder, and she wore a soft cream-colored dress that hugged her figure modestly yet beautifully.
Leira, on the other hand, was dressed in her school uniform—a navy blue pleated skirt, a crisp white blouse, and a blazer bearing her school’s insignia. Her hair was tied in two neat pigtails secured with pink ribbons, and her small backpack hung snugly over her shoulders. She looked every bit the bright, cheerful child she was.
“Papa!” Leira called out as she skipped over to him. Without hesitation, she leaned in and kissed him on the cheek.
Lucan smiled, his expression softening as he cupped her small face in his hands. “Going to school already?” he asked.
Leira nodded enthusiastically. “Yes! Mama said we should leave early today because of the traffic!”
Lucan chuckled, brushing a stray strand of hair away from her face. “Be careful on your way, okay? And study well.”
Leira giggled and wrapped her arms around his neck in a quick hug. “I will, Papa! You’ll see!”
Maris watched the exchange with a smile. She stepped closer, her heels clicking softly against the floor. “We should get going, Leira,” she said.
Leira released Lucan and straightened her backpack. “Okay, Mama!”
Lucan leaned down and placed a tender kiss on her forehead. “Take care, my little scholar,” he said.
Leira gave him a bright smile and nodded before turning to follow Maris. Maris reached out and took her hand, leading her toward the door. Just before stepping out, Maris glanced back at Lucan, her eyes lingering on him for a moment.
“Don’t work too hard today,” she said softly.
Lucan smiled and nodded.
Maris gave him a smile before walking out with Leira.

Katie at her house, stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the sharp lines of her suit. Her outfit was professional, tailored to perfection, with a sensuality that was impossible to ignore. It was a fine balance—polished enough to belong in the corporate world, yet tight enough to hint at the curves that lay beneath.
Her skirt, a deep charcoal gray, hugged her hips and thighs with just the right amount of tension. It was a pencil cut, ending just above her knees—demure enough to avoid crossing any lines, yet still short enough to showcase her long, toned legs. The fabric was thick and high-quality, not prone to wrinkles, and it moved with her, following the subtle sway of her hips as she shifted from side to side. A faint slit at the back of the skirt ensured she could walk gracefully.
The jacket was snug, fitted to her slim waist and flaring subtly at the hips to complement her petite figure. It was the same deep gray as the skirt. Underneath the jacket, a crisp white blouse peeked out—its silky material slightly sheer under the right lighting, though Katie had ensured it revealed nothing improper. The top buttons were left undone, exposing just enough of her collarbone and upper chest to catch the eye without being overtly provocative. The blouse tucked perfectly into her skirt, emphasizing the cinch of her narrow waist.
Her jacket’s lapels were sharp and clean, and she had accessorized sparingly—a sleek, black leather belt with a simple silver buckle around her waistline, matching a pair of small stud earrings that glittered when they caught the light.
Katie’s legs were encased in sheer, black stockings that lent them an almost polished glow, highlighting the smooth curves of her calves and thighs. On her feet, she wore a pair of black stiletto heels—glossy and pointed, with just enough height to enhance her posture and force a graceful sway in her walk.
Her hair was styled into soft waves that framed her face and cascaded down her shoulders, the locks catching the light with a subtle shine.
Now makeup, so she’d applied just the right amount of makeup: a smoky eye that accentuated her eyes, a sharp winged liner, and mascara that made her lashes long and thick. Her lips were painted a vibrant shade of red—not too flashy, but bold enough to stand out. The lipstick itself was a cheap brand, but it didn’t matter; she wasn’t planning to let anyone close enough to smudge it. She smiled to herself, satisfied.
“Perfect,” she murmured, grabbing her leather handbag and draping it over her shoulder.
The drive to Lucan’s house was quick, but as soon as she pulled into the driveway and knocked on his door, she mentally prepared herself. Lucan opened it moments later, looking relaxed and casual in a loose shirt and slacks, his face lighting up when he saw her.
“Katie!” He moved in for a hug, arms already reaching for her.
She sidestepped him with graceful precision, a smirk tugging at the corners of her lips. “Hold it, tiger,” she said, raising a hand like a traffic cop. “This jacket is perfectly pressed. If you hug me now, you’ll ruin it. Wrinkles aren’t part of the look.”

Lucan blinked, momentarily surprised, then chuckled softly, stepping back with both hands raised in surrender. “Alright, alright. No hugs. You look great, by the way.”
“I know,” she said matter-of-factly, straightening her sleeves as she stepped inside. She cast him a side glance, eyes sparkling with amusement. “And no kisses either. I’m wearing cheap lipstick today. If you kiss me, you’ll walk into the office with red lips. I don’t think that’s the impression you’re going for.”
Lucan laughed, “You’re ruthless this morning.”
“I’m efficient,” Katie corrected, lifting her chin. “Now hurry up, we’re already on a schedule.”
“Already working like my assistant,” Lucan chuckles.
“This is my job from now on,” Katie said with a professional smile.
Minutes later, they were in Lucan’s car, heading toward the office. The atmosphere was business-like. To anyone peeking in through the windows, it would look as though they were two coworkers simply sharing a ride, each absorbed in their thoughts. Katie kept her gaze fixed straight ahead, her fingers tapping softly against her lap.
Lucan broke the silence after a moment. “You’re really taking this ‘no wrinkles’ thing seriously, huh?”
“Of course. Presentation matters, Mr. Lucan.” Katie didn’t look at him as she spoke, “Especially when we walk into the office together. If people see you looking sloppy, they’ll assume I’m slacking.”
Lucan shot her a sideways glance. “When have I ever looked sloppy?”
“You haven’t. I’m just making sure it stays that way.” She turned slightly, flashing him a sly smile. “Besides, you wouldn’t believe how many people notice every little detail about us. Clothes, posture, even the way you adjust your tie.”
Lucan exhaled with mock exasperation. “Great. Now I’m going to be paranoid about my tie all day.”
Katie let out a soft laugh, leaning back against her seat. “You’ll survive.”
By the time they pulled into the office parking garage, the morning sun was beginning to peek through the clouds, its golden light streaming between the concrete beams. The low hum of other cars echoed through the space as Lucan eased the car into a spot. Katie grabbed her handbag and stepped out, her heels clicking sharply against the pavement, the sound almost authoritative. Lucan followed suit, quickly catching up to her as they headed for the elevator.
They weren’t alone. Several employees had trickled in at the same time, filing silently into the elevator. Katie and Lucan stood side by side, maintaining their professional distance. Katie kept her posture ramrod straight, her chin slightly lifted as she stared at the numbers ticking upward on the panel. She could feel Lucan beside her.
When the elevator dinged on their floor, Katie stepped out first, her heels ringing confidently against the polished marble tiles. Lucan looked at her and shook his head, he never expected this, but it’s fun and new.
He followed a pace behind, his long stride keeping up easily. As they walked down the hallway, the early-arriving employees nodded politely as they passed, their gazes lingering a second too long on Katie’s polished look.
“See?” Katie murmured, just loud enough for Lucan to hear. “Presentation.”
Lucan’s lips twitched into a faint smile. “Yeah but even if you came anything else, they will still look at you more.”
“Yes, but with this look, it’s clear I’m all work type girl, and nothing else,” Katie said.
Lucan smiled at her as they went to his office.
