Chapter 113: Unleashing the Firepower
Out of the entire raid group, only one person didn’t join in on the battle cry.
Lyla.
Instead, she simply watched Ethan, her eyes brimming with warmth as he rallied the team.
“Moonbeam, Big Bro is really good at hyping people up!” Heaven’s Dawn excitedly waved her tiny fists, turning to Lyla.
Lyla sighed at the little girl’s enthusiasm. “You do realize he’s just hyping you all up, right? So why are you shouting along with him?”
“I dunno! It just felt exciting!” Heaven’s Dawn beamed. Then, after a short pause, she suddenly declared, “Big Bro is so cool! When I grow up, I wanna marry him!”
Lyla chuckled and ruffled the little girl’s hair. “Well, you’d better grow up fast then. Your Big Bro isn’t just a smooth talker, he’s also a huge bully.”
“Hey! Don’t mess up my hair! It’ll stunt my growth!” Heaven’s Dawn pouted and batted Lyla’s hand away. “Big Bro isn’t a bully! He’s nice to me!”
Lyla smirked. “That’s because you don’t see what he’s like when no one’s watching.”
The little girl squinted at her suspiciously. “Wait a sec… How do you know that? Unless you…?”
Lyla’s smirk vanished, and her face turned red. “Stop talking nonsense!”
“Heh! Moonbeam, you’re blushing!”
As the two of them playfully bickered, Ethan took the first step into the dungeon portal, vanishing into the swirling purple light.
One by one, the rest of the team followed.
—
The scene shifted.
The moment they stepped through the portal, the group found themselves inside a massive underground cavern. Jagged rock formations jutted out in all directions, and a single winding path stretched forward.
A chilling howl echoed through the cavern, the very sound that gave Howling Caverns its name. In truth, it wasn’t a monster’s cry at all, just the wind rushing through the tunnels, creating eerie, ghost-like wails.
Ethan led the group forward.
They walked for nearly a thousand meters, the empty path stretching on and on. Not a single monster in sight.
Then, suddenly—the cavern opened up.
Before them lay a hidden underground world, lush and green, filled with strange, towering trees.
A vast subterranean forest.
High above, a massive hole in the cavern ceiling let in a beam of sunlight, illuminating the landscape in a golden glow. A shallow river flowed through the center of this hidden paradise, its crystal-clear waters reflecting the light.
Ethan’s gaze swept across the scene. Then, his voice rang out.
“Prepare for battle.”
The team froze.
Wait… there weren’t any monsters here yet.
What were they supposed to fight?
Then—

SPLASH.
Upstream, a massive turtle slowly lumbered down the riverbank, its gigantic shell glistening under the sunlight.
“Yo, Boss… You’re not seriously planning to fight that thing, right?” Skyblade asked hesitantly.
Ethan nodded. “Yeah. Why?”
Skyblade grimaced. “That thing isn’t even a boss, but it’s got more HP than one. Why waste time fighting it? It’s a neutral monster, it’s not even blocking our path.”
Another player chimed in, “Yeah! Plus, I heard that when its HP drops to 50%, 30%, and 10%, it transforms into something massive. And if it lands on even a tank, it’s an instant kill.”
Ethan pulled out three bottles of Size Enhancement Elixirs and handed them to Skyblade.
“Relax. I’ve got a plan. When I give the signal, drink one of these.”
Skyblade took the potions without questioning him. “…okay, if you say so.”
Ethan grinned. “Alright, everyone, clear the way for the bait—uh, I mean, for Skyblade.”
Laughter broke out across the raid chat.
The tension in the air lightened considerably. It was their first time tackling this dungeon on Expert Mode, and many players were feeling the pressure.
A joke at the right moment? Priceless.
“Damn you, Boss…”
Skyblade sighed dramatically, but without hesitation, he activated Taunt and charged straight at the turtle.
“Come at me, you bastard!”
With a loud clang, his shield smashed against the turtle’s shell, drawing its attention.
Ethan immediately broke into a cold sweat.
Why did all tanks have to yell something dumb when they used Taunt?
Was this some gaming ritual? Or was everyone just influenced by that one obnoxious bull-headed warrior from a certain old-school game?
Pushing that thought aside, Ethan barked out orders.
“All healers, focus on Skyblade.”
“Ranged DPS, start attacking.”
“Melee DPS, hold your positions, surround it, but don’t rush in yet.”
“Moonbeam, Meatball—hold your fire until I give the signal.”
“SeraphWarrior—get in there and manage aggro.”
The team sprang into action, charging into the shallow river, the water barely reaching their knees.
The battle had begun.
The shallow river turned murky as the team trampled through the water, their movements stirring up sediment from the riverbed.
The giant turtle roared, its deep, guttural cries echoing through the cavern. But with the melee fighters locking its position, the creature couldn’t move an inch.
This was basic raid strategy—everyone understood it.
In Ethereal, bosses never just stood still and fought tanks head-on. They would constantly adjust their positioning, trying to circle behind the tank for an attack.
That’s why melee DPS had to help box the boss in, while the two off-tanks assisted the main tank in keeping it in place.
Ethan’s eyes flicked across the raid’s damage numbers.
Most players were dealing around 50 damage per hit, meaning their total attack power was somewhere around 400, a high stat for this stage of the game. After all, at the dungeon entrance, players were shouting their attack stats to get picked for raid teams.
Anyone with over 300 attack acted like they were hot cake, getting snapped up by strong teams. And if their stats were lower than the group’s average? They’d get instantly rejected.
‘Looks like Skyblade gathered some of the guild’s strongest players for this run,’ Ethan thought.
The damage numbers continued to float above the turtle’s shell, dozens of hits, ranging from tens to over a hundred.
But two damage sources stood out.
One was from SeraphWarrior—his Judicator of Light skill landed a staggering 400+ damage.
The other? Skyblade himself.
His silver-tier weapon, which Ethan had personally upgraded to +30, allowed him, a Shield Tank—to hit really high with a single skill.
“Holy crap! Who just hit for 400+?”
A player shouted in disbelief.
Most of them could only deal double-digit damage, with some breaking into the hundreds at best. Seeing 400+ appear out of nowhere was shocking.
And that wasn’t all, SeraphWarrior’s basic attacks were already breaking 100 damage per hit.
“Damn! That’s gotta be SeraphWarrior!”
Another player confirmed.
But Skyblade chuckled. “Oh? And who do you think just hit for 200+?”
“Uh… who?” The player actually fell for it and asked.
Skyblade grinned. “Me, obviously!”
The chat fell silent.
Skyblade, a Shield Tank, was dealing this much damage? What were the DPS players supposed to do now? Were they even needed?
One by one, the players turned to stare at Skyblade, their confidence shattered.
Ethan, meanwhile, had been watching from stealth in Panther Form, studying the fight for a full minute.
Skyblade had firmly secured aggro, meaning it was finally safe to attack.
Ethan hadn’t joined the fight yet, nor had he allowed Lyla or Meatball to start.
The reason?
If they attacked too soon, they might steal aggro, throwing the fight into chaos. And if the turtle’s aggro reset, it could wipe the entire raid.
Now, though, it was time.
Ethan struck first, lunging forward with a Rake followed by a Shred.
-578!
-62!
True Damage.
Ignoring all armor.
At level 31, his True Damage stat was already 62, nearly as much as other players’ full skill damage.
He followed up with several more Shreds, draining his energy bar. As he waited for energy to recover, he swiftly shifted into Owl Form and cast Moonfire and Sunburn.
It didn’t matter how much damage these spells did, the goal was to trigger his weapon’s True Damage effect.
As Ethan entered the fight, the raid froze for a second. They had thought SeraphWarrior had already surpassed the Guild Leader in damage.
But now?
They realized—Ethan was still a step ahead.
With just his star-gathering skills, he was already hitting for over 500 damage. That was the moment Ethan knew it was time to go all out.
He raised his voice.
“Moonbeam, Meatball—get ready. Attack at will!”
