Chapter 61: Five Vs Seven Thousand
The morale of Renegade Alliance players was at an all-time low. Particularly those in the starter zones, they couldn’t even bear to visit the forums. Occasionally, a few hotheads would try to counter the mocking posts from Blade Syndicate, only to be drowned in insults and ridicule.
Even out in the wild while leveling up, they were constantly mocked.
“Look, it’s one of those Renegade Alliance guys. Thought they were hotshots, huh? Now they’re just Blade Syndicate’s chew toys!”
“Yeah, their guild leader hasn’t even logged in for ten days. Guess he’s abandoned them!”
“More like he’s too scared to show his face.”
The constant jeers left Renegade Alliance players unable to lift their heads in pride. They suppressed their frustration, but the absence of their guild leader made it impossible to stay optimistic. Many began losing hope.
That was until Ethan’s first video was released.
For the first time in days, the players felt their hearts swell with emotion, some even had tears in their eyes. Their leader was back.
Many players who had fought in the legendary Battle of Zone 1370 still held deep feelings for Renegade Alliance. They didn’t want to see their guild become the server’s laughingstock. They only wished they could level up faster and fight alongside their comrades.
After watching Ethan’s video, their spirits ignited. Slashblade even posted a guild-wide message, explaining that Blade Syndicate had set a trap in the Larson Basin and that Ethan had decided to face them with just five players instead of risking the entire guild.
But even with Slashblade’s message, chaos erupted in the guild chat.
The 200 players stationed outside Larson Basin, awaiting orders, clamored to charge back in and fight alongside their leader.
Some tried to reason with them, but Ethan and his team had no time to manage the chaos.
That’s when Lyla spoke up.
“Everyone, calm down. The guild leader ordered you to withdraw because he doesn’t want you to die needlessly. He left us behind for a reason. If you go back in now, you’ll only mess up his plan. Stick to the leader’s orders. Players in the starter zones, focus on leveling up. If the guild leader needs you, he’ll call for you!”
Her words silenced the uproar, though many players felt a newfound admiration for her.
Still, Lyla wasn’t immune to their enthusiasm. The sheer passion of the guild members moved her deeply. But she knew Ethan well, he always had a plan. It wasn’t her place to stir things up.
“Yes, miss! We’ll listen!”
“Understood, boss lady! I’m heading back to level up now!”
“No worries, we won’t disrupt the plan!”
“Where are you, boss lady? Want to grind in the Murky Swamp with us?”
The entire guild was well aware of Ethan and Lyla’s relationship. With her taking charge, no one dared disobey.
By this time, the Northern Frontier’s three main cities had been activated, and the barrier between starter zones 1 to 2000 had been lifted. For a fee, players could now teleport between starter zones.
Lyla had already teleported to Zone 1314, Renegade Alliance’s main base of operations. Everything was more convenient there, especially since many of her close friends had also joined the guild.
As for the players who had crossed into Zone 1370 for the earlier war, they’d been sent back to their original zones by the system when their group teleport scrolls expired.
Now at Level 10, Lyla saw that the guild chat had quieted down. She gathered her friends to run dungeons and level up.
What seemed like a simple guild war had captured the attention of countless players. Many couldn’t resist checking the forums for updates every few minutes.
For Renegade Alliance members, it was almost obsessive. After killing just one monster, they’d refresh the homepage to check on the battle’s progress.
They all wanted to know: would Ethan and his team be defeated and forced to respawn? Or would they really manage to destroy Blade Syndicate?

Even if Ethan and his team lost, it would still be an honorable defeat. Five players taking on 500? That alone was an unimaginable feat.
Under Ethan’s forum post, countless players left comments, many expressing their desire to join Renegade Alliance.
“Who wouldn’t want a leader like this?” they wrote. “When you’re bullied, your leader steps up, slaughtering hundreds for you! Isn’t that the kind of leader everyone wants?”

On the outskirts of Larson Basin, Marcus Skeiner was restless. Annoyed, he grabbed the waist of a female player nearby, eliciting a coquettish gasp from her.
Reports kept flooding in about guild members being ambushed and killed. Each notification stoked his irritation.
“How many are there?” Marcus snapped.
“From what the survivors said… only five.”
“Five? Five of them killed over 500 of you? And you couldn’t even fall a single one? Useless idiots!” Marcus roared, wishing the number his scouts reported was anything but five.
He angrily opened the forums, watching the videos in disbelief. He recognized Skyblade and SeraphWarrior immediately. That black panther? Definitely NotADruid.
The one recording? Slashblade, no doubt.
As for the chubby guy with glasses, Marcus didn’t know him, but judging by his absurd damage output, he was geared to the teeth.
Where did Renegade Alliance even find players like this? Marcus thought. Their equipment was top-tier, their skills practically professional.
He glanced at his own guild. Sure, they had numbers, but aside from himself, they didn’t have a single skilled player.
If Ethan knew what Marcus was thinking, he’d probably die laughing. Marcus? Skilled? The only place he could claim being a skilled professional was his dreams.

As Blade Syndicate players flooded Larson Basin, Ethan’s team faced increasingly difficult challenges. Every encounter involved no fewer than 200 enemies, and reinforcements arrived within minutes.
In the basin’s depths, Ethan and his team barely had time to grab loot before reinforcements, nearly 400 strong, closed in.
“Retreat!” Ethan ordered. They dove into the water, abandoning any hope of looting.
Finally, Blade Syndicate figured out where they were emerging from.
When Marcus heard the news, he was ecstatic. “Finally, we’ve got them!” He ordered his entire guild to converge on the waterhole within Larson Basin.
Everyone who hadn’t been respawned back to the starter zones, and even those who had died once, were summoned back. Slowly but surely, the 7,000 members of Blade Syndicate mobilized.
They thought they were moving efficiently, but in reality, these 7,000 headless chickens couldn’t even find the nearest waterhole.
Marcus, however, reveled in the feeling of controlling such a massive force. One command from him and thousands swiftly obeyed.
Grinning, he pulled the female player closer, his fingers exploring the opening of her dress as he fondled her plump breasts.
“Ah… Careful, not so rough.” she cooed, her voice carrying an odd accent.
“Hah! Let’s see where you run now!” Marcus sneered, convinced of his victory as his grip tightened.
Meanwhile, Ethan’s kill count updates continued to roll in on the forums.
“Time: 01:12 – 587 kills.”
“Time: 01:25 – 592 kills.”
“Time: 01:47 – 601 kills.”
Although the numbers weren’t as dramatic as before, the steady rise in Blade Syndicate casualties left players stunned.
And despite everything, Ethan’s team still hadn’t been wiped out.
Around this time, a new post hit the forums, quickly climbing to the top of the trending list:
“Ethereal WCC Livestream: Renegade Alliance vs. Blade Syndicate – 5 vs. 7,439. Who will win? Watch now!”
Players clicked on it in disbelief. Weren’t there only 1,500 players before? How did it grow to 7,000?
The link led to a livestream, not a replay.
