Chapter 85: The Chosen Archer
If the bow required a quest to gain its approval, that would be manageable. But if it was based purely on luck, then there was nothing he could do.
In his previous life, Frostbound Reverie had remained nothing more than a legend, no one had ever actually equipped it. Eventually, it ended up in the hands of Feather, the so-called God of Arrows, but even he never used it.
And yet—
“Whoa! +30 Enhancement?! A legendary-tier bow?! Ethie, you’re the best! Mwah~!”
Lyla planted a kiss on his cheek before he could react.
At that very moment, her old bow vanished, instantly replaced by a new one.
And the design…
The entire bow looked as if it was forged from pure ice, radiating a restrained yet overwhelming chill. Its wings curved into a graceful arc, and intricate, ancient runes were etched across its body.
Most striking of all was the brilliant golden aura, proof of its +30 enhancement.
“You… You actually… equipped it?!” Ethan stammered.
“Yep! And its stats are insane!” Lyla beamed as she checked her inventory.
“Well? Show me the details!” Ethan was just as eager. This weapon was supposedly born alongside the Firstborn, the Winter Queen, its power had to be extraordinary.
But while he was excited, he was also confused.
Lyla had bonded with the Winter Queen’s pet immediately. Now, she could equip the Winter Queen’s weapon without issue.
What was going on?
Lyla sent the stats over in a private message. Ethan quickly opened it.
And then…
Nothing.
Just like in his inventory, every stat was still a string of question marks.
“…I can’t see anything,” Ethan muttered in frustration. “You’ll have to read it out to me.”
“Really? Alright!” Lyla cleared her throat and began listing off the attributes.
As Ethan listened, a clear picture formed in his mind.

“…Holy hell.”
Ethan stared at Lyla, dumbfounded. This bow wasn’t just powerful, it was ridiculous.
But one thing was clear:
It had chosen her.
Frostbound Reverie was born alongside the Firstborn, the Winter Queen, formed from the very essence of her frozen soul. It could only be wielded by one it deemed worthy.
…
Ethan was stunned after hearing Lyla’s breakdown of the weapon.
Forget the abilities for a second, just its base attack alone was an absurd 303 points. And this was at level 15.
On top of that, the weapon grew stronger with its wielder, meaning its stats scaled as Lyla leveled up.
It had six attributes, and three of them were dynamic, meaning they’d automatically improve as she gained levels.
Then there was the Winter Queen’s Summon, it granted a phantom with 0.15% of the real Winter Queen’s strength.
How strong was that?
No one knew. No one had ever used it before.
And then there was Forbidden: Winter’s End, just the name alone sounded catastrophic.
But the 1% HP drain per second during charge-up? That was brutal. If Lyla fully charged it for 5 minutes, she’d drop dead before even firing it off.
Yeah, she was gonna need a healer babysitting her for that one.
Ethan frowned. If she was level 15 and the max charge time was 5 minutes, did that mean at level 100, she’d have to charge for 33 minutes?
Of course, this was just his guess, but regardless, this bow was beyond broken. Even its first three abilities were insane.
A 25% slow on every attack? For an archer, that was a godsend.
Archers were glass cannons, meaning they needed to keep enemies at a distance. If every arrow crippled movement, getting jumped by melee attackers became way less likely.
Sure, the slow only lasted two seconds, but an archer’s attack speed was fast enough to keep it nearly permanent.
And the automatic magic arrows? That was basically printing money.
Archers and gunners were notoriously expensive classes. Sure, their bullets and arrows had special properties, allowing them to punch above their level and deal high burst damage.
But all that cost gold, a lot of gold. Even a basic, no-effect barrel of 1,000 arrows cost 1 copper.
At higher levels, however, basic arrows weren’t even an option.
Lyla was level 15 now, meaning proper arrows for her would cost around 3 copper per barrel.
With the in-game exchange rate, that was about $54 per barrel. And in real combat, a barrel only lasted around three hours.
Do the math, a single day of intense grinding would cost at least $200 in ammo alone.
But now?
With Mimic Arrow, she could copy the effects of special arrows, and combine that with the infinite supply from the bow itself…
Unlimited ammunition.
No more gold sink.
Ethan sighed.
He had thought his +30 silver-tier weapon was strong, certain that no one in the game could outdamage him.
His entire gear set combined barely totaled 600 attack power. Lyla’s bow alone outclassed that.
He stared at the weapon, practically drooling. He had planned on helping Lyla level up, but now?
Looks like he was the one about to get carried.
