Lord of the Truth - Chapter 1137
Chapter 1137: Index
“…” Robin slowly lifted his gaze upward, trying to fully grasp the scene before him.
The entrance to the cave consisted of a cracked wooden door. While the wood itself was of high quality, it was evident that it had remained in place for hundreds of thousands of years, judging by the overwhelming presence of fungi and mold consuming its surface. Beyond the entrance stretched a long passageway, plunging at least a kilometer deep into the heart of the massive Northern Edge Mountain. The passage was strewn with small rocks, scattered insect remains, and the skeletal remains of long-dead rodents.
But here, as he finally caught sight of a dim light at the end of the tunnel—
“Heavens…”
The massive tunnel had led him into an even more colossal chamber. This cavernous hall, hidden within the depths of the mountain, was vast enough to rival the size of a grand Knightball stadium. The ceiling towered overhead at an astonishing height of tens of meters, casting an overwhelming sense of scale to the space.
Robin’s eyes widened as he took in the sight. The walls of the vast chamber were completely covered with towering bookshelves, each filled to the brim. The floor was littered with desks, wooden barrels, and various aged furniture. But no matter where he looked—whether at a shelf, a table, or even the ground—his eyes found only one thing: books and scrolls. Everywhere.
Tens of thousands of books and scrolls!
Even though he had just stepped inside, he could already tell that this place was a sanctuary of knowledge, a treasury of wisdom compiled over an unfathomable amount of time.
(Wow, that guy must have had a lot of free time!) Even Evergreen, despite her usual composed nature, sounded genuinely astonished by the sheer scale of what they had uncovered.
Robin, however, furrowed his brows, deep in thought.
“According to recorded history, this shouldn’t be possible. It is widely believed that after his identity as a Truth Chosen was exposed, he spent the remainder of his life engaged in ceaseless wars. His time was consumed by battle after battle until, in the end, he was betrayed and slain. Given such a life, he wasn’t supposed to have had the luxury of dedicating himself to research. And yet… this place—this library—completely contradicts what history tells us.”
Robin stepped forward, reaching out to the nearest bookshelf. He pulled out a book and carefully began flipping through its ancient, fragile pages.
“…Well, now this makes sense.”
(What? What is it?) Evergreen’s curiosity flared, her voice carrying excitement.
Robin studied the intricate details within the book, his expression growing more intrigued by the second. “This book contains the full pattern of a minor law from the metal category.”
The thick volume was filled with complex diagrams. Each page presented an incomplete section of a grand pattern, yet the lines and markings extended to the following page, forming a larger interconnected structure. It became clear that the contents of the book were part of a single massive schematic. If the pages were carefully removed and arranged in the correct manner, the resulting colossal pattern could easily cover the entire chamber from end to end!
After several minutes of careful examination, Robin placed the book back in its slot and grabbed another.
“…This one also contains the patterns of a minor metal-related law, specifically the first-stage variation.”
Then he reached for another.
“And this one follows the same concept.”
One after another, he continued scanning through different books, each time coming to the same conclusion.
Finally, Robin paused. His gaze drifted across the massive collection that filled the enormous bookshelf, his eyes narrowing with realization.
“Are all of these books dedicated solely to the minor laws of metals!?”
Evergreen pondered for a moment before offering a theory.
(Hmm… I recall hearing about him from you before. Wasn’t the Second Heaven Chosen a conquer? He commanded a vast army, didn’t he? If that was the case, maybe he devoted himself to researching all possible metals in pursuit of crafting the strongest armor, the most formidable weapons, and the most intricate talismans—artifacts designed to enhance his army’s capabilities.)
She hesitated briefly before adding another thought, (But still, why didn’t he just pursue the Major Heavenly law of Earth? Wouldn’t the Major law already encompass all the Minor metal-related laws within it?)
Robin smirked mischievously, a glint of amusement flashing in his eyes.
“Oh? Are you implying that the Major Heavenly law of Earth is missing from this collection?”
His voice carried a teasing edge as he chuckled to himself, entertained by the implications.
(Of course! Most of these books are of similar size—how could The Major law possibly be among them?) Evergreen puffed out her cheeks in mild frustration. (Hmph, you’re treating me like a child again!)

“Haha, aren’t you actually a child?” Robin chuckled before waving his hand dismissively. “Anyway, things aren’t that simple.” He carefully returned the books to their places before striding toward the next section of shelves. “For you, as a planetary spirit, the distinction might not seem important. You feel the same patterns within both Major and Minor laws and assume they’re the same. But for researchers like us —or even cultivators— the major law of any given path does indeed encompass all the minor laws within it… but they are not one and the same!”
(Hah?) Evergreen tilted her head to the side, confused.
Robin smiled, a knowing glint in his eyes. “Tell me, Evergreen—do you think the Major law is the source of minor laws, or do the minor laws come together to form the major law?” As he spoke, he stopped before the next bookshelf and pulled out another book.
(Does the answer even matter? This comes from that, and that comes from this~) Evergreen muttered, feeling as though Robin was playing mind games with her.
“Then let me explain,” Robin smirked. “From what I’ve observed, the minor laws are the original foundation— the building blocks that were created to structure the universe. However, certain philosophers and scholars managed to deduce the existence of something they call the major law. We Truth Chosen, in particular, have the ability to perceive how fragments —different minor laws— can be assembled into a grand, unified pattern, which is what we call a major law.”
He shook his head slightly. “To put it simply, minor laws came first, while major laws cannot exist in their complete form naturally. I believe the ability to wield a major law in any given field was something granted by the Lawmaker as a reward for those who strive to understand the truth. But in reality, a true major law doesn’t actually exist— at least, not in the way people assume. I see it just like merged laws, such as the Flame of Life~”
Evergreen blinked, absorbing his words before crossing her arms. (What do you mean, major laws don’t exist in nature? Then what exactly are you and your army using?)
Robin sighed and raised his hand, gesturing as he explained. “I’ll make it simple. Take the major law of water, for example. It allows manipulation of water’s fundamental nature—turning it from liquid to gas to solid, extracting it from underground, condensing it from the air, purifying it of impurities, shaping it into different forms, and so on. But in nature, does a single handful of water exist as a liquid, a gas, and a solid all at the same time? Can that same handful of water be both underground and aboveground simultaneously? Can it be pure and polluted at the same time?”
Evergreen frowned slightly, thinking about it. (Well… no, that doesn’t make sense.)
Robin nodded. “Exactly. If we’re talking about a puddle of liquid water, above the ground, and purified— then that means it’s not in a solid ice state, underground, and polluted. Therefore, only parts of the major law apply to it, while other aspects do not. It’s impossible to find Earth, Water, Fire, Space, or any other element existing in a state where every ideal trait of its major law is manifested at the same time. The major law, as people understand it, is actually an abstraction—a theoretical construct that brings together multiple minor laws.”
Evergreen pursed her lips, deep in thought. (So you’re saying… the major law isn’t something that naturally exists, but rather something scholars identified by connecting multiple fragments together?)
Robin smirked. “Precisely.” Then he furrowed his brows slightly as he skimmed through the book in his hands. “…This book contains a minor law for the element of lead.” He set it aside and picked up another. “This section of the library covers another earth-based element— Ozfilt… The first library contained solid metals, while this one seems to focus on earth elements used for engraving runes?”
Evergreen tapped her fingers against her chin. (I think my head is about to blow up, what are the use of the Major Heavenly laws then!)
Robin placed the books back on the shelf and moved toward the next section. With a confident smile, he answered, “In the simplest terms— the Major law of any path is nothing more than an index!”
