Magus Supremacy - Chapter 48
Chapter 48: An Offer Chapter 48: An Offer Chapter 48 The man turned his gaze to Grey, a flicker of curiosity dancing in his eyes.
“And you…
you’ve managed to catch my attention.
Interesting.” Grey stared after him, his heart pounding like a war drum.
“Who… or what… is that?” he muttered under his breath.
The townspeople, previously hidden away in the shadows of broken shops and shattered alleys, slowly emerged as the glowing portal behind the man began to fade.
Even the last surviving Talonus-bloodied, yet defiant-stood its ground, warily observing the new arrival.
Whispers spread like wildfire through the onlookers as they took in the man’s appearance.
His robe was a deep, majestic blue, flowing down to his ankles with sleeves that shrouded his arms.
On the robe were two distinct emblems, each etched with exquisite craftsmanship.
The first emblem bore a silver crescent moon cradling a fiery red arrow pointing skyward, all enclosed within a circular border studded with intricate, shimmering stars.
Above the moon, in an elegant, curved inscription, was the academy’s proud motto: “Scientia et Magia”-Knowledge and Magic.
The second emblem was a silver badge affixed to the right side of his chest, gleaming under the light as if forged from moonlight itself.
He stood at around 5’9″, with soft brown hair neatly falling to the sides of his calm, charismatic face.
His eyes, a deep hazel brown, carried both warmth and mystery.
Yet it was the unshakable smile resting on his lips-especially when his gaze fell on Grey-that made the hairs on Grey’s arms rise in unease.
“Yaaawn…” The man stretched lazily, ignoring the stunned silence around him.
“Th-that’s the captain… of the Lunaria Squad!” a familiar voice cried out.
It was the town librarian, wide-eyed and trembling.
“The who?” Grey asked, raising an eyebrow.
“He’s… he’s the Vice Principal of the Lunaria Magical Academy!
And also the captain of the elite squads they dispatch during emergencies like this!” the librarian shouted in astonishment.
‘Lunaria Academy?
Never heard of it…
But this guy… I can feel it.
A powerful aura cloaks him.
He’s no ordinary mage.
He’s someone dangerous,’ Grey thought, his expression darkening.
The man’s eyes shifted, locking onto the Talonus that stood only a few meters away.
The beast, despite its earlier bravado, now visibly trembled and took a cautious step back.

The atmosphere turned heavy, and the world around them seemed to hold its breath.
“I’m in no mood to drag this out… So I’ll be ending it now.” With a casual motion, he raised his hand toward the sky.
In a flash, he thrust it downward.
A colossal sword of pure, radiant energy-its blade howling with magical force-descended from the heavens and cleaved the Talonus clean in half, the sound of impact echoing like thunder across the ruined town.
“What the hell?!” Grey gasped, his eyes widening in disbelief as the dust settled.
‘My instincts weren’t wrong.
Th-this man is frighteningly strong…
Even if I had full mana, even if I wielded all my affinities at once-I’d still lose.’ The crowd burst into applause, cheers erupting in waves.
The monster that had tormented them for so long now lay slain, vanquished in a single strike.
But the man wasn’t done.
He turned from the crowd and fixed his gaze on Grey.
His expression, now stripped of all amusement, was deadly serious.
Grey felt sweat trickle down his back as he held the man’s gaze.
‘This is the same person that made Noir recoil in fear…
Why’s he looking at me like that?
Don’t tell me I have to fight for my life now?!’ Desperate, Grey tried to summon his mana, but it fizzled out before it could even form.
“Damn it…
my mana’s completely drained,” he muttered under his breath, eyes widening as the man began walking toward him-calm, deliberate, unstoppable.
And then, without warning, he vanished from sight.
Only to reappear directly in front of Grey.
“We need to talk.
Somewhere private,” he said simply.
Before Grey could react, the man grabbed his arm.
The world twisted-and in an instant, they disappeared from the town.
— “Grey!!!” Clara’s panicked scream pierced the air as she saw her son vanish.
From the rooftop, she leapt down with the little girl still in her arms, her eyes frantically scanning the spot where Grey once stood.
“Grey!
Where is my son?!” she cried, falling to her knees, tears flowing freely.
The crowd murmured in confusion.
No one had expected the mage to just take the boy like that.
— Grey hit the ground with a thud.
He groaned, lifting his head only to recognize the familiar treetops of the forest where he usually trained.
“Ugh…
What is it with powerful mages kidnapping me like it’s some daily routine?!” he shouted in frustration.
A voice answered from behind him.
“Kid, we need to talk.
Urgently.” Grey scrambled to his feet, facing the mage who now stood with arms crossed.
“Mr.
Vice Principal, why did you bring me here like that?” Grey asked, brow furrowed.
“Are you deaf or just slow?
I told you-we need to talk,” the man replied, shaking his head.
“Talk about what?” “I have questions.
And I want honest answers.
No lies.” “Fine,” Grey said with a tired sigh.
His entire body ached from the earlier fight, and he just wanted this to end quickly.
“Before I arrived, I was observing the town through one of our mages’ clairvoyant spells.
I saw what happened-saw you, standing your ground against those beasts.
Alone.” ‘So that’s why he said I caught his interest…’ Grey mused.
“What interested me wasn’t your bravery-it was your power.
You’re a prodigy.
From what I saw, you wield three elemental affinities with impressive control.
That’s a talent only seen once in a million years.
“And then there’s your familiar,” he added.
“Shit.
He noticed me!” Noir whispered in Grey’s mind, clearly shaken.
The man took a step closer.
“Let’s start simple.
What’s your name?
And how old are you?” Grey sighed and answered honestly.
“Grey Dawn.
I’m fifteen.” The moment the name Dawn passed Grey’s lips, the man froze.
His expression faltered-just for a split second.
‘Dawn?!
Could he…
could he be the one?’ the man wondered, visibly stunned.
The reaction didn’t go unnoticed.
Grey tilted his head.
‘Was it something I said?’ The man quickly composed himself.
“I see…
Well, I’m glad I found you.
A once-in-a-lifetime talent like you shouldn’t go unnoticed.” He paused, then smiled again.
“Which brings me to my offer.” Grey perked up, curiosity ignited.
“Offer?
What kind?” “One I’m certain you won’t refuse.” _______ {A/N} For more updates on MSS, MS and future works, please remember to follow me up on my social media accounts below.
