Magus Supremacy - Chapter 50
Chapter 50: Hypocrites!
Chapter 50: Hypocrites!
Chapter 50 “Aghhh!
The pain…
It’s unbearable!” Grey groaned as his eyes fluttered open, and he found himself wrapped in a blanket, lying in the familiar confines of his small home.
“Oh!
I’m back home,” he muttered, glancing around the living room.
A sweet aroma of food drifted in from the kitchen, filling the air with warmth and comfort.
“Jesse!
Go check if Grey is awake!” Clara’s voice called out from the kitchen.
The name sent a jolt of anger through Grey’s body, and he clenched his teeth, already feeling his blood boil as the small girl approached him.
“You’re awake!” Jesse said in her soft, innocent voice.
At eight years old, Jesse had short black hair and dark eyes that looked almost too big for her face.
“How are you feeling?” she asked, tentatively reaching out to touch Grey’s arm.
But before she could make contact, Grey shot her a vicious glare that made her freeze in place.
“What are you doing here?!” he shouted, his anger flaring up like wildfire.
Jesse recoiled, her tiny frame shrinking back as if his words physically struck her.
The fear radiating off her caused her to break into sobs, but Grey’s fury only intensified.
The more she cried, the angrier he became, as if her tears only added fuel to the fire.
“I’m…
I’m sorry, Brother Grey,” she stammered through her tears, but Grey’s eyes darkened even further.
“Don’t you dare call me your brother.
I’m not your brother!” he shouted, his voice booming through the room.
At the sound of the raised voices, Clara rushed out of the kitchen, panic evident in her eyes.
She saw Grey standing, his posture rigid with rage, the heavy, suffocating aura of anger surrounding him.
“Grey!
What are you doing?” she asked, hurrying to him.
The tension in the air was thick, oppressive.
Grey turned to face her, his aura dissipating as he struggled to keep his emotions in check.
He walked towards Clara, his steps slow and deliberate, fists still clenched.

“Mum, what is she doing here?” he demanded, his voice strained.
Clara’s expression softened, though there was a quiet sorrow in her eyes.
“What do you mean?
We were both there when her parents died.
She has nowhere else to go, and I couldn’t turn her away.
So, I invited her to stay with us.
I wanted to take care of her.” Grey’s eyes flashed with disbelief.
“Have you forgotten that because of her, you almost lost your life?
I nearly lost my only pillar, my mum, and you let her stay here?” His words were sharp, like a blade cutting through the tension.
Clara sighed, shaking her head.
“She didn’t force me, Grey.
I risked my life to save her, and I don’t regret it.” “That was a foolish thing to do, Mum!
What if I wasn’t a mage?
What if I hadn’t unlocked my affinities, or wasn’t strong enough?
Have you thought about that?” Grey’s voice broke slightly, a tremor of frustration mixing with the anger that still churned inside him.
Clara closed her eyes, guilt tugging at her heart.
“I know… I acted impulsively.
But I couldn’t just stand by and let an innocent child die.” Grey’s chest tightened as he struggled to keep his emotions under control.
Before he could say anything more, a loud knock echoed from the door.
“Huh?
We never get visitors,” Clara murmured, puzzled.
Without saying a word, Grey walked toward the door and swung it open.
To his surprise, dozens of people stood on his doorstep, each one grinning from ear to ear, holding baskets in their hands.
The moment they saw him, their smiles widened even further.
“Hurray for Grey, our town’s savior!
Thank you so much for saving us!” they cheered in unison, their voices blending together in a chorus of false gratitude.
Grey stood frozen for a moment, staring at them with wide, unblinking eyes.
The sudden outburst of joy made his skin crawl.
They stepped forward, offering their baskets, and a middle-aged man, older than the rest, stepped up to him.
He bowed slightly, his eyes gleaming with something almost like forced admiration.
“This is a small token of appreciation for saving us from the beast attack.
Yes, the squad captain of Lunaria Academy killed the beasts, but without you, we would have all been dead before he even arrived,” the man said, his voice trembling with barely contained reverence.
Grey’s lips pressed into a thin line, and he stood there, motionless, before memories began flooding his mind.
“I can’t believe it.
He was born without an affinity.
What a worthless kid.” “Clark!
Please, you’re hurting me.
Someone, anyone, help me!” “Let them be.
He’s useless.
The one with magic is the one worth saving, not him.” The words echoed in his mind, each one sharper than the last, and with a burst of emotion, Grey’s mana surged outward, crackling in the air like a storm about to break.
“You… you… you’re all hypocrites!” Grey roared, his voice loud enough to shake the very walls of the house.
The villagers were taken aback, stunned into silence by the sudden outburst.
Grey’s eyes blazed with fury as he pointed an accusing finger at them.
“What?
Now you’re thanking me?
Now you suddenly realize my worth?
None of you even knew who I was until that day!” His voice grew louder, more venomous.
“You all saw me as a cripple just because I couldn’t use magic.
I walked the streets, and you all taunted me.
I was bullied, and not one of you ever stepped in to stop it.
And now, you’re suddenly grateful?” His words lashed out like a whip.
“But… but we were wrong,” the middle-aged man stammered, his face pale as sweat beaded on his forehead.
“Silence!” Grey’s command was absolute, his voice like thunder crashing in the room.
His red hair began to lift slightly as if caught by an invisible wind, and an immense pressure filled the air, making it harder and harder to breathe.
The atmosphere thickened with his anger, and the townspeople took a step back, feeling the weight of his power.
“Grey…” Clara whispered, her voice trembling.
She stepped forward, her hands trembling as she reached out to him, trying to calm him.
“Let me speak, Mum!” Grey snapped, brushing her hands away, before turning back to the people before him.
“You all have money to buy all these gifts, but where were you when my dad died?” His voice was cold, cutting through the air.
“Not one of you stepped in to help, not even to give us a single bronze coin.
And now, you show up with silver baskets, pretending to care?
Pathetic.” “We… we are so sorry, Grey.
We know we wronged you and your family,” the middle-aged man apologized, bowing deeply.
Grey’s gaze remained steely, his anger unabated.
“Save it.
I don’t need your apologies.
What I need is for all of you to leave now, before I do something I’ll regret.” Without a second thought, flames erupted in his left hand, the fiery tendrils licking the air, casting an orange glow across his face.
The villagers, now visibly shaking, scrambled to leave, their hurried footsteps echoing in the quiet street.
“Wait!” Grey called out before they could flee completely.
They froze and turned toward him, eyes wide with fear.
“Before you leave, let me clear up one thing.
I didn’t save your pathetic town out of the goodness of my heart.
I don’t care if it burns to the ground.
I saved it because my mum was in danger, and I had to fight the beasts.
Your town was just collateral.
Now, get out of my sight.” With those final words, the villagers wasted no time, fleeing in a hurry, the middle-aged man sweating and muttering under his breath.
“I hope we haven’t made an enemy of him.
If we have, I doubt the town lord can protect us.” — {A/N} Good news, everyone!
