Chapter 1010: Puppy Love
Li Chenmo had already thought of this matter but hadn’t reminded his wife earlier because he wanted to see if she would realize it.

So, hearing her words, he smiled and said, “How about we save those gifts as thank-you gifts instead? After my second brother’s wedding banquet, we will still need to thank the people who helped us.”

Nodding at her husband’s words, Lu Jueyu replied, “Alright, let’s do it as you say.”

After a moment’s thought, she added, “Husband, how about we give the Pan family two jars of biscuits? They can share them with the neighbors they are close to and share the joy.”

Li Chenmo nodded and said, “It’s a good idea. Just give them two jars. This way, we can say we brought them from home.”

“Alright.”

Lu Jueyu took two jars of biscuits from her space and put them in the bamboo basket, along with other items they had brought from the village for the Pan family.

Not long after, Dong Li entered the kitchen and said, “Father, Mother, I have washed the dishes. Grandpa said we can leave when you are ready.”

“Let’s go, then,” Lu Jueyu nodded.

As Li Chenmo and Dong Li loaded the items into the truck, Lu Jueyu went to her room to grab her bag. When she returned, she was surprised to see the truck filled with so many items.

Seeing this, she asked, “Husband, where will we sit?”

Holding her hand, Li Chenmo tapped his wife’s delicate nose and replied with a smile, “Wife, we will go by bus. Father and Xiao Li will ride with my second brother and his friends.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Jueyu looked at the truck and saw Dong Li and a group of men sitting in the back with the items. Father Li and Li Lingyun were seated in the front with the driver.

Since there was no room for them, she could only agree, “Husband, let’s go then.”

As they left the rented house, the sun was rising higher. Checking her watch, Lu Jueyu noted it was ten minutes after 8 o’clock in the morning.

It would take around an hour to reach the compound where Pan Meijia and her family lived which was perfect. They were neither too early nor too late when they arrived.

On their way, Lu Jueyu sat beside her husband, admiring the city as they chatted. With her bag covering their hands, they held hands discreetly. She felt like a schoolgirl in a secret romance and laughed.

Hearing her laughter, Li Chenmo looked at her and asked, “Wife, why did you suddenly laugh?”

Leaning closer, she whispered, “Husband, don’t you think we are like students in puppy love?”

Raising his eyebrow, Li Chenmo asked curiously, “Wife, have you been in puppy love before?”

Startled by his sudden question, Lu Jueyu looked at him and said helplessly, “Husband, are you even jealous of this?”

“So, you did have puppy love,” Li Chenmo said in a bad mood.

Scratching her nose, Lu Jueyu replied, “Well, I’m not sure if the other me liking Du Jiawen back then counts as puppy love or not.”

Hearing this, Li Chenmo squeezed his wife’s hand and said, “I’m asking about that time, not now.”

Realizing her husband was talking about their previous life, Lu Jueyu thought for a moment and replied, “It’s been a long time and I have forgotten. All I remember is that you were the first and only man I loved back then.”

“Maybe I had a crush before meeting you, but after I met you, I couldn’t remember his name or face. Husband, I still remember our first meeting and how you looked back then,” she added with a smile.

When he heard this, Li Chenmo went silent for a moment before saying, “Yu’er, I remember that day too. You were so beautiful. I thought you were a fairy sent by Heaven just for me. When I first saw you, you took not only my heart but also my soul.”

“From that moment, I knew I couldn’t live without you. So, Yu’er, in this life, the next, and all the lives to come, I will follow you and never let you go.”

After he finished his words, Lu Jueyu looked at him with wide eyes full of shock. She looked into his eyes and saw obsession mixed with deep affection. She thought she should fear his intense emotions, but all she felt was heartache and a surge of love.

Following her heart, she glanced around, then, after making sure no one was watching, she pulled her husband’s arm and kissed his cheek. The kiss was light, like a butterfly’s wing, so brief that only he noticed.

Stunned by the sudden kiss, Li Chenmo looked at his wife while blinking his eyes. She was usually wary of public displays of affection, fearing they would be seen and get reported, yet she had just kissed him in public.

Embarrassed by his reaction, Lu Jueyu’s blushed. She turned to look out the window to avoid her husband’s intense gaze and missed the warmth and brightness that filled his eyes at this moment.

An hour later, Li Chenmo and Lu Jueyu finally arrived at the compound and saw that everyone had been waiting for them. As they walked over, they saw Pan Chimu chatting with Li Lingyun.

Seeing them approach, Li Lingyun looked at Pan Chimu and said, “Second brother-in-law, my third brother and his wife are here.”

Pan Chimu looked at the couple and said, “Captain Li, Sister-in-law, both of you are here.”

Hearing his greeting, Li Chenmo replied helplessly, “Brother Pan, just call me by my name. We will be in-laws from today. It feels strange for you to call me ‘Captain,’ especially since I have retired from the military.”
