Male Lead's Canon Fodder Wife - Chapter 1025
Chapter 1025: Surprise
Before Lu Han left, Chen Anwen handed him 100 yuan and food and meat coupons. It was more than enough for a meal, even if he wanted to treat his friends.
Meanwhile, in the capital, Xiao Yiqing fed her husband chicken porridge carefully. Ever since realizing the benefits of the ginseng powder gifted by Lu Jueyu, she added a pinch to each meal she prepared.
It had been days since she had started staying at the hospital to care for her husband. In these few days, she is only going home to get some clothes and ingredients. To save money, she borrowed the kitchen to cook, allowing her to add a little bit of the ginseng powder into her husband’s meals.
Watching her taking care of him, Mu Zigu’s eyes softened. He never imagined that someone would care for him so deeply when he was injured.
Noticing his smile, Xiao Yiqing asked, “Husband, is there something on my face?”
Mu Zigu chuckled and said, “Wife, thank you. I thought I would never see you again.”
Hearing this, tears welled in Xiao Yiqing’s eyes. She had prepared herself for the dangers of her husband’s job, but seeing him injured had shaken her. Despite accepting the risks, she still resented his job for putting him in harm’s way.
Alarmed by her sudden tears, Mu Zigu asked, “Wife, why are you crying? Are you feeling unwell?”
She glared at him through her tears and said, “If you don’t take better care of yourself and get hurt again, I will ignore you.”
Guilt washed over him when he heard his wife’s words. He held her hand and said, “Wife, I’m sorry for worrying you. I can’t promise I won’t get hurt, but I will do my best to come back alive.”
Understanding this was the best her husband could offer, Xiao Yiqing nodded and said, “Promise me you will come back safely. I don’t want to see you like this again.”
Hearing this, Mu Zigu sighed and said helplessly, “I will do my best.”
Wiping her tears, Xiao Yiqing asked, “Are you still feeling dizzy?”
“No, the dizziness is gone. That ginseng powder your friend gave you is amazing, and the ointment is helping my wounds heal fast,” Mu Zigu said, glancing at the scabs on his arms.
Xiao Yiqing nodded and said, “Jueyu mentioned in her letter that the ointment was a family recipe from her husband’s side, and it is highly effective because it contains many precious medicinal herbs. The ginseng powder was made from a 500-year-old ginseng, and she only has a small amount.”
“Husband, I think you should take some of the ginseng powder and wound ointment with you on your missions. It would help me feel more at ease,” she added.
Mu Zigu nodded and reminded his wife, “Wife, these things are too valuable and mysterious. We mustn’t tell anyone else about them, or it could bring trouble to your friend. Since she treats us so well, we should repay her kindness.”
Xiao Yiqing nodded and said, “I understand. I haven’t mentioned these things to anyone.”
“Good,” Mu Zigu said with approval.
Just as they finished talking, there was a knock, and the door opened. Doctor Wu entered the ward, followed by a nurse. When he reached the bed, he checked the patient’s information board and asked, “Comrade Mu, how are you feeling today?”
“Doctor Wu, I no longer feel dizzy.”
“Do you have any pain in your arm or leg?” Doctor Wu asked again.
“There is some slight pain, but it’s manageable.”
Doctor Wu nodded and proceeded to check Mu Zigu’s pupils while the nurse measured his blood pressure and heart rate.
After a while, Doctor Wu made some notes on the information board and said, “Comrade Mu, you are recovering faster than most patients. It seems that years of training have paid off. You can be discharged from the hospital tomorrow.”
Hearing this, Xiao Yiqing said gratefully, “Thank you, Doctor Wu.”
Doctor Wu nodded and added, “By the way, regarding that nurse, the hospital decided to issue a disciplinary action. She has been permanently transferred to a hospital in a county town. I hope this resolution satisfies you, Comrade Xiao.”
Xiao Yiqing had almost forgotten about the nurse until Doctor Wu mentioned it. Being transferred to a small county town was essentially a career setback.
She didn’t care where the nurse was stationed as long as she could no longer bother her husband. So, she nodded and said, “I have no objections to the hospital’s decision. Thank you for informing me.”
“This is our duty. After all, it was the hospital’s lack of discipline that caused you significant trouble. We are grateful that you didn’t submit a complaint against us,” Doctor Wu said with a smile.

After speaking, Doctor Wu left the ward with the nurse.
Mu Zigu looked at his wife and asked, “Wife, what happened? Was there an issue before?”
Xiao Yiqing didn’t plan to hide anything from her husband, so she recounted what had occurred. When she finished, she noticed her husband’s expression had darkened. She lightly poked his arm and asked, “Husband, are you angry?”
“How could I not be angry when my wife was bullied?” Mu Zigu said through gritted teeth.
He took several deep breaths to calm himself before saying, “Wife, I’m sorry. I didn’t expect that my courtesy would bring trouble to you. From now on, I won’t interact with other women except for work.”
Xiao Yiqing smiled and said, “Won’t that cause trouble for you?”
“It’s fine. I was never fond of socializing with female soldiers anyway. I only need you,” Mu Zigu said earnestly.
Hearing her husband’s words, Xiao Yiqing blushed and said shyly, “How can you say such things so casually?”
“Wife, I mean it,” Mu Zigu said, leaning in to kiss her.
But before he could kiss her, a knock came from the door. Moments later, it opened, and a couple entered the room.
Seeing the visitors, Xiao Yiqing stood up in surprise.
