Seeing his wife’s timidity, Li Chenmo smiled and pulled her a bit farther from the camera. Beside them, Dong Li was fascinated by how the large device could capture their images.

Soon, it was time for the family photo. Father Li sat in a chair with Dong Li standing beside him, while Li Chenmo and Lu Jueyu stood behind.

Since they could take three shots, Father Li joined them for the first photo only, letting the others take the remaining photos alone. In the next picture, Lu Jueyu sat in the chair, with Dong Li and Li Chenmo standing on either side.

When they finished, Dong Li said, “Father, Mother, you should take a photo together.”

The photographer nodded and said with bright eyes, “That’s a great idea.”

Standing behind his wife, Li Chenmo placed one hand on her shoulder and the other behind his back while looking at the camera with a subtle smile.

On the other hand, Lu Jueyu appeared graceful and elegant in her Qipao. The contrast between her delicate beauty and her husband’s strong presence excited the young man. He knew this would be one of his best photos.

Just before the shutter clicked, Lu Jueyu placed her hand over her husband’s and smiled gently, her gaze full of love.

The young man and woman, as well as Dong Li, were captivated by the couple’s chemistry. After the photo, the pair changed back into their everyday clothes. As soon as they changed into their old clothes, their refined aura from earlier was gone.

As they prepared to pay, the young woman said, “Comrade, the total for the rental and photo packages is 4 yuan and 90 cents.”

Lu Jueyu nodded and asked, “Comrade, can we get the photos framed?”

“We sell frames here. Each one costs 1 yuan and 30 cents,” the young woman replied.

“Do we need an industrial coupon?” asked Lu Jueyu.

“With an industrial coupon, it’s only 60 cents per frame,” she answered.

Since she didn’t want to waste the industrial coupons, she opted to pay the full price, “Comrade, we will pay full price.”

“In that case, the total for framing seven photos is 9 yuan and 10 cents. The total of the frames, photos, and rental is 14 yuan,” the young woman said after calculating.

Taking out her purse, Lu Jueyu paid and asked, “Comrade, when will the photos be ready?”

“You can pick them up tomorrow, or at the latest, the day after,” the young woman said, handing her the receipt.

“Please bring this to collect your photos,” she added.

Lu Jueyu accepted the receipt with a smile, “Thank you.”

After they left the store, Father Li looked at his third son and said, “Third son, the price is so expensive. Seven photos actually cost fourteen yuan!”

Father Li was still feeling heartache over spending so much. Fourteen yuan was equivalent to half a month’s salary for a factory worker. With this money, they could buy a lot of necessities.

Hearing this, Lu Jueyu smiled. While the price was affordable for her and her husband, it was indeed a steep price by the standards of this era. So, it was natural for her father-in-law to feel reluctant to spend the money.

“Father, it’s a well-spent money. We can earn more money, but the memories we have made here can’t be recreated,” said Li Chenmo with a gentle sigh.

“Besides, when you go back to the village, you can show your photos to your friends and tell them about your trip to the capital,” he added.

“Grandpa, when you show them, everyone will definitely be envious. You looked so handsome just now,” Dong Li added.

Father Li suddenly felt a bit more at ease after listening to their words. After all, without the photos, people might not believe his stories. And even though only his photo was displayed, it would show that he had visited the capital. No one could call him pitiful for being a widower anymore.

After reaching this conclusion, Father Li looked at his third son and said, “Third son, I was just being too closed-minded. In the future, I will trust your judgment more.”

“Good,” nodded Li Chenmo.

Having finished with the photos, they decided to stroll around and buy some books and stationery for the children at the department store.

Not long after they left, Li Lingyun and Pan Meijia arrived at the photo studio. As they walked in, the young woman at the counter was momentarily stunned.

She blinked several times before she realized that the man before her only resembled the man who had just left and not the same person. They looked incredibly alike, though their builds were slightly different.

Noticing the young woman staring at him, Li Lingyun frowned and moved to stand behind his girlfriend.

Meanwhile, Pan Meijia was busy admiring the store and didn’t notice the young woman’s surprise.

After a moment, she approached the counter and said, “Hello, comrade. My boyfriend and I would like to take a couple’s photo. Could you tell me the cost?”

Hearing this, the young woman snapped out of her daze. She quickly retrieved the price list and set it on the counter.

“Hello, comrade. Here is our price list. We also offer a family photo package if you are interested,” she said with a smile.

“Thank you, comrade,” replied Pan Meijia as she reviewed the prices.

As she looked over the list, the young woman remarked, “Comrade, a family of four just came in to take a family photo, and they looked so much like your boyfriend.”

Hearing this, Li Lingyun raised an eyebrow and asked, “Was it a boy, a couple, and an elderly man?”

The young woman nodded, and asked with surprise, “Comrade, how did you know?”

“Oh, they must be my boyfriend’s family. It’s a shame they already left. Otherwise, we could have taken a photo together,” said Pan Meijia with a hint of regret in her voice.

Sensing her disappointment, Li Lingyun leaned closer and said, “Jia Er, if you’d like, we can take a family photo when we go back home. We can bring Xiao Huang and the boys too.”

When she heard her boyfriend’s words, Pan Meijia’s face lit up as she replied, “Okay!”
