Chapter 1036: Dong Li’s Doubts ( 2 )
Dong Li nodded and walked over. He started unloading the sacks and baskets into an empty room with his father. Initially, he thought there wasn’t much, but after half an hour of carrying sacks, he was amazed there were still items left in the cart.
As he placed the last sack, he stood in the room, thoughtfully pondering.
‘Is it even possible to fit all of this in one cart? Also, where did my father get the cart?’ he thought.
Noticing his son’s expression, Li Chenmo patted his shoulder and explained, “If you stack things right, the cart can hold even more.”
Dong Li snapped out of his thoughts and asked, “Father, did someone help you pull the cart?”
Li Chenmo shook his head and said, “I didn’t need any help. The heaviest part is when you pull the cart for the first time. Once the wheels are moving, it’s not as hard as you would think. It’s different than carrying it all on your back.”
Taking in his father’s explanation, Dong Li felt his doubts ease. Today, he had gained another valuable lesson from his father.
While Dong Li was boiling water in the kitchen, Lu Jueyu stored the cart back in her space. As for Li Chenmo, he needed to take a walk before returning, allowing them to explain to Father Li and Dong Li that the cart was borrowed from others.
Meanwhile, Li Lingyun was walking through a narrow alley wearing a bamboo hat that covered half of his face. As he walked, he noticed that many people were still visiting the black market, even though it was no longer early.
In the county town near Xie Village, people typically stopped coming to the black market as soon as the sun rose. But here in the capital, it was already around six o’clock in the morning, and trading was still bustling.
‘Is the political situation in the capital too chaotic and the government has no time to take care of the black market?’ he thought.
When he noticed a few people looking his way, he lowered his bamboo hat and walked toward a small house at the end of the alley.
Standing outside, he knocked rhythmically on the door and waited for a while. Shortly after, the door was opened and a middle-aged man appeared. Seeing Li Lingyun, the man asked, “Who are you looking for?”
“My third son is missing, and I’m looking for him,” Li Lingyun replied in a low voice.
The man nodded and stepped aside to let him in. Once inside, Li Lingyun looked around the dimly lit room and asked, “Where is my third son?”
“Comrade, please have a seat, I will call him,” the man said before disappearing into the back room.
Li Lingyun took a seat and looked around the empty room. After about twenty minutes, a young man entered with the middle-aged man.
Upon seeing him, the young man exclaimed with surprise, “Boss, what are you doing here? When did you arrive in the capital?”
The moment the middle-aged man heard these words, he looked at Li Lingyun, trying to see his face. Even though the bamboo hat obscured his view, preventing him from seeing his boss’s face clearly, he still observed him closely.
Noticing his curiosity, the young man said, “Uncle, you should head inside to help.”
Understanding he wasn’t wanted in the conversation, the middle-aged man gave them another glance before retreating to the back room.
Once they were alone, Li Lingyun said, “Son, keep an eye on that person. He is a hidden danger.”
When the young man heard his words, he asked helplessly, “Boss, can you stop calling me your son? You are clearly taking advantage of me. Also, that person is my uncle—he won’t harm us.”
“Son, you can’t trust others completely, even family. You need to observe them over time to truly know them,” Li Lingyun replied with a smile.
The young man paused, then nodded, “Boss, I understand.”
“By the way, what brings you here, boss?” he asked.
“I’m getting married and need meat for the wedding banquet. Go to the farm and have our people slaughter three pigs for me. Each person will get a 100 yuan red envelope to celebrate my wedding, since I can’t invite everyone to the meal,” Li Lingyun said with a grin.
The young man’s eyes lit up as soon as he heard this. He looked at his boss with a smile and said, “Boss, congratulations on your marriage! You finally find the woman you like, it’s a blessing ah! We understand the need for secrecy and that we can’t attend. So, on behalf of our brothers, thank you.”
Nodding at him, Li Lingyun instructed, “Senzi, the situation in the capital is unstable. Make sure to divide the pigs and deliver them to four different locations,”
Lin Senzi nodded and said, “Boss, there is no need to worry about the farm. I have arranged for our people to move the pigs. But we are having issues with pig feed. Recently, the amount of pigweed available has decreased. Without another source, we may struggle to sustain the farm’s size.”

After a moment’s thought, Li Lingyun asked, “How long will the feed last?”
“About a month,” Lin Senzi replied.
Calculating in his mind, Li Lingyun nodded and said, “I will send more feed when I return to the village and inform you when it’s ready. For now, just make sure your uncle won’t betray us.”
“Boss, I know what to do,” Lin Senzi affirmed.
Li Lingyun took out a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to him, “Deliver the meat to this address on the 11th, at 2 a.m. I will be waiting there.”
“Understood.”
After their brief conversation, Li Lingyun left the house and wandered the black market. When he reached another alley, he noticed a house bustling with people. As he approached the crowd, he saw customers emerging with sacks and baskets.
