Chapter 1073: He Is Just A Child
Seeing the large number of bags piling up in the room, Lu Jueyu decided to place most of the heavier items in her space, leaving only the lighter ones outside.
Since they needed a plausible reason to have food for the journey, she and her husband headed to the kitchen to prepare easy-to-carry meals like steamed buns, scallion pancakes, and boiled eggs.
They didn’t prepare too much, knowing they could always take more food from her space if needed. To conserve energy, they had a simple dinner of steamed buns and egg drop soup before heading to bed.
Later in space, Lu Jueyu and Li Chenmo rested after preparing additional food for the journey. With the Pan family joining them, the amount of food they needed was higher than before. After preparing the food, both of them took showers and returned to the room before going to bed.
Early the next morning, Lu Jueyu woke up before dawn and nudged her husband while saying, “Husband, wake up. It’s almost dawn.”
Being pushed awake, Li Chenmo held his wife’s hand and said hoarsely, “Mhmm, let me hug you a little longer.”
Hearing this, Lu Jueyu let him hold her for a while before finally pushing him again.
“Husband, we need to leave at 4 a.m. today,” she reminded him.
Sighing, Li Chenmo reluctantly let her go and said, “I can’t hug you for another 30 hours. Wife, I’m so sad.”
Half-awake but amused by her husband’s words, Lu Jueyu laughed at his words and replied, “Let’s wash up and get ready.”
After a moment, Li Chenmo finally agreed with a long sigh, “Okay,”
Lu Jueyu brought her husband to her space, and they went to wash up. Both of them had breakfast before leaving the space and reappeared in their room.
When they left the room, they saw Li Lingyun’s subordinates already busy loading their bags onto the truck. Noticing them, one of them greeted, “Good morning, Third Brother, Third Sister-in-law.”
“Good morning,” Lu Jueyu replied with a smile.
Checking her watch, she saw it was twenty minutes to three o’clock in the morning. Looking at them, she asked, “It’s still early. Have you all eaten?”
“Yes, Sister-in-law, we have already eaten,” the young man replied with a nod.
Since they had eaten, she simply nodded and helped her husband carry their bags to the truck. When they arrived at the Pan family’s house, it was five minutes past three.
As the truck parked outside the compound, Li Lingyun climbed down and walked to the gate. Standing there were the Pan family and the Second Aunt, waiting for them.
“Good morning, Mother, Father, Second Aunt,” he greeted them warmly.
“Good morning, Brother Yun,” Pan Meijia replied with a smile.
Father Pan glanced at the truck and asked, “Ah Yun, is that truck yours?”
Li Lingyun shook his head and said, “I borrowed it from my friend’s manager. My friend will drive us to the train station.”
“Alright, stop asking questions and get in the car. We will be late if we keep chatting here,” Mother Pan urged.
Since the morning temperature was low, the older family members squeezed into the front seats beside the driver, while the younger ones sat in the truck bed. Due to the empty roads, they reach the train station in less than thirty minutes.
After they reached the train station, Li Chenmo and Li Lingyun went to the ticket counter while the others waited nearby.
The Li family, accustomed to waking up early, looked refreshed and energetic even though the sky was still dark. In contrast, the Pan family—except for Pan Meijia—struggled to stay awake. They yawned repeatedly despite the cold weather.
Watching this, Lu Jueyu shook her head. Urban dwellers were indeed more pampered than villagers. She worried they might struggle to adapt to village life during their stay later.
At 3:45 a.m., the two brothers returned with the tickets. After distributing them, Li Chenmo stood beside his wife, carrying their bags. With only one large and one small bag, traveling was much easier than when they first arrived.
For Father and Mother Pan, however, it was their first long journey, and they clung nervously to the group, afraid of getting lost. Noticing their concern, Pan Meijia reassured her mother, “Just follow me and Brother Yun, Mother.”
Li Lingyun nodded when he heard this and said, “Yes, Father, Mother. Stay close to us. Once we are in the cabin, everything will be fine.”

“Brother, Sister-in-law, be at ease. We didn’t bring much, and Ah Yun is with us,” the Second Aunt chimed in with a smile.
Used to traveling due to her husband’s job, the Second Aunt wasn’t worried at all. Instead, she curiously observed the Li family.
Despite being villagers, they carried themselves with the sophistication of city folk. Even their young son showed remarkable maturity and intelligence for his age.
Thinking of her sister-in-law’s daughter back home, the Second Aunt turned to Lu Jueyu and asked, “Jueyu, how old is your son this year?”
Although surprised by the question, Lu Jueyu smiled and replied, “Ah Li is thirteen years old this year.”
Second Aunt was astonished and exclaimed, “Only thirteen? I thought he was at least fifteen or sixteen!”
Lu Jueyu let out a chuckle when she saw the Second Aunt’s reaction and said, “Second aunt, don’t be fooled by his height. Ah Li is just a child. Last year, his height barely reached my chest.”
“But after the New Year, he grew so quickly—now he is almost a head taller than me. Maybe next year, he will catch up to his father’s height,” she added with a hint of pride.
Hearing the pride in his mother’s tone, Dong Li smiled quietly, pleased to be the source of her pride.
“Your family really has good genes. I’m sure your son will grow into a talented man, just like his father,” the Second Aunt remarked.
Since Dong Li was five years younger than her niece, Second Aunt dropped any matchmaking thoughts and sincerely praised him.
