Male Lead's Canon Fodder Wife - Chapter 1074
Chapter 1074: Smelly Hands
Standing beside his wife, Li Chenmo smiled and said, “You are too kind, Second Aunt. Ah Li is still young and has much to learn. As long as he grows up healthy and happy, that is enough for us. We don’t need him to achieve greatness.”
Dong Li was startled by his father’s words. He had assumed the rigorous training and studies he underwent were meant to mold him into the family’s pride and bring glory to the Li family.
To learn that his parents’ only wish was for his happiness and health touched him deeply. While he was lost in thought, he was brought back by the sound of the train’s horn.
Li Chenmo patted his shoulder and said, “Ah Li, stay close and keep an eye on your grandpa.”
Nodding at his father’s words, Dong Li picked up their bags and followed his father closely while holding onto his Grandpa’s arm.
As usual, Li Chenmo held his wife’s hand and carried a bag in the other as they walked onto the train platform.
Following close behind were Dong Li and Father Li, while Pan Meijia, Mother Pan, and the second aunt trailed behind them. At the very back, Li Lingyun held onto Father Pan’s arm as they walked.
This time, the sleeper cabin was much emptier compared to their journey from Xie Village, with only half the space occupied by passengers. However, since the train would stop at two more stations, the cabin would likely fill up later.
When they reached their cabin, Li Chenmo asked, “Second Brother, will you join us or stay with your wife’s family?”
Li Lingyun was unable to feel at ease away from his wife. So, after thinking for a moment, he replied, “I will stay with them. Please look after our bags.”
“Okay.”
After they reached an agreement, they went to their cabins. The Pan family and Li Lingyun stayed in one cabin, with Mother Pan and Pan Meijia sharing a bed and the rest of them having a bed for themselves.
In the next cabin, Li Chenmo put their bags on the upper bunk while Lu Jueyu pulled out some steamed buns, scallion pancakes, and boiled eggs from her large bag.
She went to the next cabin and handed the food to Li Lingyun, as she said, “Second Brother, I didn’t make much this time—just some simple food.”
“Thank you, Third Sister-in-Law,” Li Lingyun said, accepting the food gratefully.
When he entered the cabin, Pan Meijia spotted the bag in his hand and asked, “Brother Yun, did Jueyu make breakfast for us?”
Mother Pan glared at her and corrected, “It’s Third Sister-in-Law.”
Not wanting to see his wife scolded, Li Lingyun said, “Mother, it’s fine. Jiajia needs some time to adjust to her new status. It will be fine after a while.”
Hearing this, Father and Mother Pan exchanged smiles but said nothing. Their son-in-law clearly cherished their daughter based on how he defended her, and they felt reassured leaving her in his care.
After sitting beside his wife, he handed her the food and said, “Jiajia, I will peel the eggs for you.”
“Thank you, Brother Yun,” Pan Meijia said with a big smile.
The second aunt glanced at the breakfast and remarked, “Jueyu’s cooking skills are truly excellent. Even something simple like this smells so delicious.”
Hearing this, Pan Meijia quickly said, “Second Aunt, I already told you—my T-third Sister-in-Law’s cooking is the best in our brigade.”
When Li Lingyun heard her finally address Lu Jueyu properly, he smiled and handed her a peeled egg, “Here, eat something first.”
“Oh, you eat too, Brother Yun,” Pan Meijia said before taking a bite of the egg.
She marveled at how flavorful and moist the boiled egg was. Whenever she tried to boil eggs, they ended up dry and hard to swallow, but these eggs made by Lu Jueyu were perfect.
Meanwhile, Mother Pan took out the breakfast she had prepared. Although both were steamed buns, her vegetable-and-egg buns couldn’t compare to Lu Jueyu’s fragrant red bean buns.
While the Pan family enjoyed their meal, the Li family took a nap, deciding it was too early for breakfast.
At the same time, back in Xie Village, the rising sun cast its glow over the houses. Dong Huang’s voice echoed through the front yard as she called out, “Brother Jingxu, where are you?”
Hearing her shout, Li Jingqian walked out of the bathroom and asked, “Xiao Huang, what’s wrong? Why are you looking for my brother?”

“Brother Jingqian, I want to ask Brother Jingxu to make two bowls of steamed eggs for me,” Dong Huang said with a grin, holding up freshly collected eggs.
Spotting the eggs in the bamboo basket, a mischievous glint appeared in Li Jingqian’s eyes. He looked at his cousin and asked, “Xiao Huang, have you washed your hands after picking up the eggs?”
Confused by her cousin’s words, Dong Huang shook her head and said, “I was going to wash them while washing the eggs later.”
Li Jingqian grinned when he heard this and teased, “Did you know there is chicken poop on the eggs? If you don’t wash your hands right away, your hands will smell like chicken poop. Then, when you eat, it will be like eating chicken poop!”
Dong Huang froze in shock the moment she heard this, and tears welled up in her eyes. Bursting into sobs, she cried, “Waaa—Xiao Huang’s hands smell like chicken poop!”
Li Jingqian laughed so hard he was out of breath when he saw how his cousin cried as if the world was ending. He patted her head and said while laughing, “Xiao Huang, how can you eat now? Your hands are smelly!”
Hiccupping between sobs, Dong Huang wailed, “Waaa! Brother Jingxu, Brother Jingqian bullied me!”
Alarmed by her cries, Zhang Dongmei rushed over from the kitchen. Seeing the little girl’s tear-streaked face, she asked, “Xiao Huang, what’s wrong? Who upset you?”
Pointing at Li Jingqian, Dong Huang hiccupped and said, “Eldest Aunt, Brother Jingqian said my hands are smelly, and I can’t eat anymore or I will eat chicken poop!”
