Male Lead's Canon Fodder Wife - Chapter 1080
Chapter 1080: Trouble
Watching her son nurse eagerly, Bai Luyun smiled and said softly, “Ting’er, when you are a little older, we will go visit your uncle and bring your sister home.”
Once she finished feeding and dressing her son, she left the bedroom. Stepping outside, she saw her husband tending to the vegetable garden.
Hearing her footsteps, Han Yuheng turned to look at her. He smiled and put down the watering can before walking over. Taking her hands in his, he asked, “Wife, why are you up so early?”
“Ting’er was hungry,” she replied in a daze.
Squeezing her hands gently, Han Yuheng said, “I’m almost done here. You should go wash up. I will prepare breakfast, and we can eat together.”
This was the first time since their marriage that her husband had shown her such care. It felt like her long-lost Ah Heng had finally returned to her.
Looking at him, she asked, “Ah Heng, are you going to the mountain again today?”
Han Yuheng thought for a moment before replying, “No, I can go to the mountain with Brother Chenze tomorrow. There is no urgent work at the office either. So, I will stay home with you today.”
Hearing this, Bai Luyun beamed and said, “Then let me make breakfast. You finish your work.”
“Alright,” Han Yuheng agreed readily.
After their reconciliation, the warmth in their home has returned, their bond grew stronger, and their love felt renewed.
At that moment, Han Yuheng remembered the old man’s words about enduring tribulations. It seemed he had finally passed his test. With that thought, he went about his day in high spirits.
While the villagers began their peaceful day, the Pan family—more specifically, the second aunt—found herself in trouble. After waking up that morning, she went to the toilet to freshen up and relieve herself.
Usually, she traveled with her husband and his subordinates, making her journeys smooth and safe. However, when she traveled without the protection of her husband and the officers, she encountered an unreasonable woman. Facing the absurd situation, her frustration left her speechless.
Standing before her was an old woman, furiously pointing at her nose and scolding as if she had committed a grave crime.
“Look at you! Wearing such expensive clothes and shoes, yet you are so stingy and unwilling to help my grandson. I didn’t even ask you for money—just a bit of food—but you refused, even after I begged you. Don’t you have any conscience?”
The second aunt, incensed by the woman’s unreasonable accusations, managed to stammer, “You—you are unreasonable!”
Unaware of the full story and fueled by jealousy, some onlookers began to chime in.
“Auntie, you clearly have money. Can’t you spare some food for the child? Look at him—so thin and pale, how could you bear to do nothing to help him?” a young woman remarked.
“That’s right! You city folks always take advantage of us villagers. Why can’t you show some compassion?” another added.
“Well, it’s obvious—she is just stingy and doesn’t care about others,” someone else said.
The old woman, emboldened by the crowd’s support, cried out dramatically, “Heavens ah! What wrong have I done to deserve this? This woman not only ruined my grandson’s porridge but refuses to compensate me. Now she is twisting the story to make me look unreasonable!”
The crowd’s disdain for the second aunt grew as they heard the old woman’s claim and openly scolded her.
Hearing the accusations, the second aunt tried to defend herself, “I didn’t do it! She bumped into me and ruined my clothes. I didn’t even ask her for compensation because I knew she couldn’t afford it. Why am I the one being blamed now?”
The old woman immediately retorted, pointing a finger at her, “Did you all hear that? She looks down on me because I’m a villager! Without us, how would people like her have food to eat? What gives her the right to be so arrogant?”
The cabin was filled with passengers from small towns and villages, and her words stirred their dissatisfaction further.
Just as the old woman seemed on the verge of successfully scamming the second aunt, a soft voice rang out from behind.
“I thought someone was dying here, given the commotion blocking the road. Turns out, it’s just another scammer trying to extort money.”
The old woman spun around, and asked furiously, “Who is spouting nonsense?”
Lu Jueyu stepped forward with a smile and said,”That would be me, and it’s not nonsense.”

Before the old woman could respond, Lu Jueyu continued, “I can’t help but wonder—why were you holding a bowl of porridge when you went to the toilet? Were you planning to cook it there?”
The crowd recoiled in disgust at the imagery, though some began to question the old woman’s actions.
After a moment of silence, someone finally asked, “Hey, Auntie, why were you wandering around with your porridge instead of feeding the child?”
“Exactly! If the boy is so hungry, why aren’t you feeding him instead of parading around?”
“And you don’t look like someone who could afford a sleeper cabin. What are you even doing here?”
One after another, people began to question the old woman’s strange behaviors.
The old woman, overwhelmed by the growing skepticism, stammered, “I—I was just going to get some water to wash up.”
“Then why bring a bowl of porridge instead of an empty basin?” Lu Jueyu pressed coldly.
Unable to come up with a response, the old woman panicked and lunged at Lu Jueyu, trying to frame her like how she framed the second aunt. But before she could reach her, she tripped on something and fell.
A knife clattered to the ground from her pocket as she let out an exclamation, “Aiyo!”
The crowd froze in shock the moment they saw the knife. Only a criminal would carry a weapon like that!
“She is a criminal! Catch her before she escapes!” someone suddenly shouted from behind the crowd.
As soon as they heard this, several brave men rushed over and restrained the old woman while others fetched the train officers.
