The vice mayor’s wife laughed at her words and replied in a good mood, “You really know how to sweet-talk me.”

“Since you have gone to this trouble, I won’t refuse your gift. Thank you, Sister Bai. I love it,” she added warmly.

After several hours of socializing, Bai Xue’er stood to leave, “Sister-in-law, I need to go pick up my son. Let’s have a meal together another day.”

The vice mayor’s wife nodded and agreed readily, “Alright.”

As Bai Xue’er prepared to leave, several of the other madams grew anxious. They hadn’t yet had a chance to discuss how to buy the products.

When she left the vice mayor’s house, Madam Wang hurried after her, “Madam Pan, please wait!”

Bai Xue’er paused and turned when she heard this. Looking at her, she asked, “Madam Wang, do you need something?”

After hesitating briefly, Madam Wang said, “About your sister-in-law’s beauty products—could you help me get some?”

“Well, my sister-in-law mentioned that the ingredients are rare, so she can only make about ten jars per month. I don’t know if she was willing to share some with others,” Bai Xue’er replied after a thoughtful pause.

Madam Wang’s eyes flickered with disappointment. However, she really wanted to buy the products. After all, she is no longer young, and there are many young women around her husband. There was no way she would be able to keep him interested in her if she didn’t take care of herself.

After considering the pros and cons, she asked in a low voice, “Madam Pan, could I buy one from you?”

Bai Xue’er looked at her with surprise and hesitated, “This—”

Sensing that she might refuse, Madam Wang quickly added, “How about I cover the cost of the ingredients, and your sister-in-law helps me make one? If she agrees, I can give her a red package to thank her too. That wouldn’t count as a personal transaction, right?”

At this point, other madams joined in, “Madam Pan, please help us too!”

“Yes, Madam Pan. If you assist us, we will be sure to speak highly of your husband in front of our husband,” one added encouragingly.

After a long silence, Bai Xue’er finally said, “I do have a price list for the ingredients, but I can’t guarantee my sister-in-law will agree. If anyone reports this, all of us could be in trouble.”

Madam Wang quickly reassured her, “Don’t worry, Madam Pan. We know what not to say.”

After some additional persuasion, Bai Xue’er relented and pulled out the price list. She handed the price list to them and said, “This is the pricing of the ingredients. My sister-in-law can only make 30 jars of each item monthly.”

The madams eagerly checked the list and placed their orders. Once Bai Xue’er recorded their names, she said, “I will inform everyone when the products are ready. You can pick them up at my house.”

“Perfect! Madam Pan, we will leave this to you,” Madam Wang said happily.

“Alright,” Bai Xue’er said helplessly.

Seeing her helpless look, they all felt proud. Although Bai Xue’er was reluctant, she could only agree to their request.

This shows that their status is higher than hers. After thinking about it, they decided to give her an extra reward. As a superior, you should reward your subordinates.

As the group left in high spirits, Bai Xue’er watched them with a satisfied smile.

‘Jueyu’s method really works wonders. Even if they were guided to buy the products they still think it was due to their own effort,’ she thought to herself amusedly.

When Bai Xue’er returned to the school, her son was waiting at the entrance.

The moment he saw her, Pan Shiwu ran over and hugged her legs. Looking up at her, he asked, “Mother, why are you late today?”

Bai Xue’er kissed his cheek and replied, “Mother had something to take care of. Shall we head back now?”

Pan Shiwu nodded and asked, “Mother, what’s for lunch today?”

“We still have some dishes made by your Aunt Jueyu. How about we heat them up for lunch?” Bai Xue’er suggested after a moment of thought.

Recalling the delicious dishes, Pan Shiwu’s mouth salivated and he eagerly nodded. “Mother, are we having lunch with Father today?” he asked.

Bai Xue’er smiled and nodded, “Yes, so we need to hurry home. Otherwise, your father will be hungry waiting for us.”

“Okay!” Pan Shiwu held his mother’s hand and skipped happily beside her.

Their home, located in the city center, was provided by the government. Given its prime location, many envied Pan Chiyan for receiving it shortly after becoming the head of the secretariat office. In the three years they had lived there, the once-cold house had transformed into a warm and welcoming home.

When Bai Xue’er and Pan Shiwu returned, they washed up and changed into more comfortable clothing. While Pan Shiwu worked on his homework, Bai Xue’er reheated the dishes prepared by Lu Jueyu and steamed some white buns.

Although she could cook, her skills were average, which often led her husband’s colleagues to tease him about eating simple meals every day.

As the food cooked, she flipped through the recipe book Lu Jueyu had given her before she left. It contained over a hundred simple recipes. Though the ingredients and methods were easy, the flavors were exceptional—something Bai Xue’er had experienced firsthand during the wedding banquet.

Ten minutes later, the buns were ready. She turned off the stove and packed the lunch. Unlike the firewood stoves in the countryside, the urban residences used coal stoves instead. Though coal was more expensive than firewoods, it produced less smoke and ash.

After packing lunch into two three-tiered lunch boxes, Bai Xue’er called out, “Xiao Wu, finish your homework later. Let’s go find your father.”

Hearing this, Pan Shiwu quickly tidied up his books and changed his shoes.

The walk to Pan Chiyan’s office took about fifteen minutes. When they arrived at the building, the receptionist greeted them with a smile. “Sister Bai, delivering lunch to your husband again?”
