Lu Jueyu nodded at her husband and said, “Exactly. Since the Chen family and the team leader also gather food in the mountains, the plants won’t regrow fast enough to meet demand. So, I want to plant those fields and use the lake water to boost their growing speed.”

After thinking for a moment, Li Chenmo said, “It’s possible to plant those fields, but we can’t plant rice. At most, we can grow coarse grains, wheat, potatoes, and mountain vegetables like radishes or carrots.”

When Lu Jueyu heard this, she frowned with disappointment.

Seeing her reaction, Li Chenmo held his wife’s hand and gently explained, “If we plant rice and villagers see it, the news will reach the brigade. If the brigade finds out that the mountain has lots of grains, they will claim the mountain, and we will lose access.”

“We still need the mountain as a cover for your ingredients and our food resources. Plus, we could grow medicinal herbs and ginseng there. That way, if anyone finds some, no one will question the source of your ginseng powder.”

Realizing that her husband’s words were right, Lu Jueyu nodded and said, “Then, let’s do as you say.”

After finishing the fruit, Li Chenmo urged his wife to rest while he went to the warehouse and continued to pack the samples. Feeling better, Lu Jueyu decided to take a walk by the lake instead of lying on the bed.

As she strolled, she noticed the fields stretching into the horizon and realized her space seemed larger than before. Rarely exploring the space, she hadn’t noticed the change until now.

Standing at the lakeside, she gazed at the glistening water and walked closer. The clarity of the water revealed the lakebed, where she spotted a red jade near the center.

Though she found it strange that she was able to see so far, she had no explanation and dismissed the thought. As she walked away, the red jade trembled slightly as if it was reluctant for her to leave.

Moments later, the red jade started to absorb black fog from the water and released golden particles. The jade’s luster dimmed and the water became clearer as it continued to purify the black fog.

Two hours later, Lu Jueyu returned to the house, covered in sweat. Although she had only walked around the farmland, the distance was still no less than several kilometers.

After she went to the bedroom, she took a t-shirt and shorts and went to wash up before heading to the kitchen to cook.

During their trip to the capital, they had consumed almost all of the ready-made food in her space. Since her husband was still busy, she decided to replenish her supplies.

When Li Chenmo returned to the house, the fragrance of the snacks greeted him, making his stomach rumble with hunger. Noticing that he was still sweaty, he went to take a shower before heading to the kitchen.

The moment he entered the kitchen, he saw his wife busy frying twisted doughnuts while the other stoves were steaming buns and grilling lemper.

Seeing how busy she was, he walked over and asked, “Wife, why didn’t you call me to help you?”

Hearing her husband’s voice, Lu Jueyu turned to look at him and said, “You were busy, so I didn’t call you.”

“I made fresh soy milk for you. Eat something first to cushion your stomach,” she added.

Looking at the kitchen filled with baskets of snacks, Li Chenmo took a plate and filled it with curry puffs, fried spring rolls, lemper, and tuna empanadas.

As he ate, he helped his wife grill the lemper. The electric barbecue grill was large enough to grill fifty lemper at once since each piece was only about two fingers wide and ten centimeters long.

Looking at the small, delicate snacks, Li Chenmo thought he could finish one in a single bite. He didn’t understand why his wife preferred making snacks in small sizes when it would be faster to make them bigger.

What he didn’t know was that, for his wife, it wasn’t just about the taste. She also cared about appearance and presentation. Although it took longer, food that looked appealing could increase appetite. For her, food was also a form of art.

Watching her tall husband chew with his cheeks puffed out while sitting on a low stool, Lu Jueyu found him oddly cute. She leaned down, kissed his bulging cheek, and continued frying the snacks as if nothing had happened.

Meanwhile, Li Chenmo was stunned by her sudden kiss. It was rare for his wife to take the initiative. Glancing at her smiling face, his mood instantly lifted.

‘I really am the most handsome when I’m working seriously. No wonder my wife couldn’t help but kiss me,’ he thought shamelessly.

Oblivious to his thoughts, Lu Jueyu said, “Husband, I want to visit my family later. Do you want to go with me?”

“I will go with you,” Li Chenmo agreed without hesitation.

Since they had just returned from the capital and brought back a lot of gifts, it was a good idea to send them out today.

After several hours of work in the kitchen, they finally finished cooking. Lu Jueyu stored the snacks in the warehouse for later uses. After bathing, the two of them changed their clothes and reappeared in their room. Since it was still midnight, they went to sleep.

Early in the morning, before dawn, Lu Jueyu woke up feeling thirsty. Opening her eyes, she frowned and tried to move her husband’s arm from her waist. Just as she sat up, her husband’s arm circled her waist and pulled her back down.

Feeling the warmth of his body, she nudged him gently and said hoarsely, “Husband, let me go. I’m thirsty.”
