While taking a short break, Lu Jueyu demonstrated to the others how to shape the meatballs. At the same time, she drank some boiled lake water to replenish her energy.

Ten minutes later, the meatballs were ready. Using a clean wok, Lu Jueyu began preparing the Lion’s Head meatballs. When the steamed fish and Lion’s Head meatballs were done, she removed some of the firewood, leaving only a few embers to keep the dishes warm.

This time, instead of transferring the cooked dish into basins, she left the dishes in the woks and covered them directly with wooden lids.

She then went to check on the roasted chicken. A smile spread across her face as she saw the chicken had been roasted to golden perfection, with oil dripping onto the embers and producing a satisfying sizzling sound.

She nodded at the girls and said, “Thank you for your hard work. Go take a rest now.”

“Okay,” the girls replied with a smile. Although they didn’t know the recipe for the sauce, they learned how to control the heat and roasted the chicken to perfection. This knowledge alone is priceless to them.

After the girls left, Lu Jueyu wrapped the roasted chicken in banana leaves, then placed the wrapped chickens into several basins and moved them to the kitchen.

After freeing up four stoves, she used three stoves to cook asparagus and crab meat soup in a large pot, and the last stove was used to cook Mapo tofu. While cooking, Lu Jueyu hydrated her body by drinking boiled lake water and regained her energy.

Cooking in an open area meant everyone could see her work. As she cooked, Lu Jueyu noticed a few people trying to steal her recipes. She smiled but said nothing. Without walls or doors to keep them away, she simply let them watch.

However, she knew that without her guidance, it would be nearly impossible for them to replicate her dishes. After all, cooking delicious food requires more than just recipes; it also required skill and knowledge of how to control heat and timing.

After being busy for several hours, Lu Jueyu finally finished the last dish and let out a sigh of relief. The villagers looked at her with admiration and amazement.

Everyone was used to cooking at home and knew how hard it was to prepare so much food at once. They had thought she was a weak woman due to her slim and small figure. Unexpectedly, she was much stronger than anyone had imagined ah!

When Aunt Chen saw that she was done, she approached and said, “Jueyu, the guests have already arrived.”

Hearing this, Lu Jueyu glanced at her watch and noticed that it was already 01.45 PM. She went to the hall to check the situation. Seeing that most of the tables were filled with guests, she returned to the kitchen to fill kettles with honey lemon tea.

She added ice cubes to a large vat of tea to cool it down before she started cooking. By now, the ice has melted and the honey lemon tea has cooled.

With the vat placed inside a basin of well water, no one questioned why the drink was cold. Besides the honey lemon tea, she also prepared roasted nuts for the guests.

“Aunt Chen, please serve these drinks and snacks to the guests. They can enjoy them while waiting for the brigade secretary to arrive,” Lu Jueyu said.

The mention of the brigade secretary attending the banquet excited everyone. It was a great honor to meet a brigade official, let alone the brigade secretary himself.

In the village hall, the guests had started to grow impatient due to heat. Some even began to complain until a group of people entered, serving snacks and drinks. With refreshments in hand, the guests calmed down and continued chatting.

Outside the hall, the Lu family set up several tables to serve hot and sour fish soup and scallion pancakes to the villagers.

While everyone was busy, Wang Muxiao sat on a bench under a tree, eating melon seeds. Due to her pregnancy, her husband prohibited her from helping with anything and only asked her to keep an eye on the people.

As she enjoyed her snacks, she noticed a group of people joining the line for the third time and shouted, “Aunt Gu, you and your family have already lined up twice. Are you going for a third round? Are you planning to take the whole pot of fish soup for yourself?”

Raising an eyebrow, Wang Muxiao smiled and asked, “Oh? Then why does your bowl still have traces of fish soup?”

Aunt Gu glanced at her bowl and exclaimed, “Impossible! I washed it before I came!”

Hearing this, the crowd frowned and murmured among themselves.

“Sister-in-law, aren’t you too shameless?! The soup and pancakes are barely enough for everyone. You shouldn’t line up again after getting your share,” one villager said angrily.

Aunt Gu glared and snapped, “The Li family hasn’t said anything, so what’s it to you? Just wait in line quietly!”

Her provoking words enraged the onlookers, who began to scold her. Thick-skinned as ever, Aunt Gu ignored them.

When Chen Anwen saw her approach with her bowl, she calmly continued serving fish soup to others.

Standing before her, Aunt Gu said, “Niece, my grandson loves this fish soup. Give me some fish meat, too.”
