While they busied themselves in the pig pen, Li Chenmo arrived at the mountain. He set down the cart and walked over to check the pits, only to find most of them empty. Out of ten pits, only two contained fertilizer, as the processed fertilizer was taken away already.

Sighing, he poured the fresh pig manure into the empty pits and sprinkled spiritual herb powder over the two that were still processing.

Yesterday, the brigade leader asked us to bring back all the available fertilizer to transport it to the capital. We wanted to inform you, but you were busy with your family matters, so—”

Li Chenmo nodded and replied understandingly, “It’s okay. Comrade Jiang already informed me, and I understand the brigade’s decision. However, the amount of fertilizer won’t be sufficient, so we will need to dilute it further with water.”

Hearing his words, one staff member asked, “Comrade Li, won’t mixing in too much water reduce the efficiency of the fertilizer?”

“It shouldn’t be a problem. My family always adds a lot of water to the fertilizer, and our vegetables grow just fine,” Li Chenmo explained.

Recalling the rumors about the exceptional quality of Li Chenmo’s vegetables, the staff nodded in agreement.

“If we can mix in more water, then the fertilizer shortage problem might be resolved,” one of them said excitedly.

Another staff member asked, “Comrade Li, can we get more fertilizer today?”

Smiling helplessly, Li Chenmo responded, “Comrade, it’s not that I don’t want to provide more, but as you can see, the fertilizer isn’t ready yet. You can come back in three days to collect it from these two pits. For the others, you will need to wait at least ten days.”

The staff frowned and exchanged uncertain glances before one of them asked, “Comrade Li, is there any other way to get more fertilizer?”

“Comrade, you know my family raises 50 pigs, and the daily manure production is fixed. Even if I wanted to help, there is nothing more I can do,” Li Chenmo said firmly.

The truth was, that the fertilizer shortage could be resolved if they used manure from Li Lingyun’s pig farm. However, doing so would risk exposing the farm and endangering his second brother.

While Li Chenmo was willing to contribute to the brigade, he wouldn’t do it at the price of his family’s safety. Therefore, he stood his ground and refused to give more.

After a moment of silence, he suggested, “Comrade, why don’t you approach the other production teams? If I remember correctly, they also raise pigs and should have excess manure that could be turned into fertilizer for the capital.”

One of the staff sighed when he heard this and said, “Comrade Li, we already approached them, but while we managed to gather a considerable amount of fertilizer, the effectiveness of their fertilizer doesn’t compare to yours.”

“The capital specifically requested your family’s fertilizer. If we send anything else, we will face trouble if this matter is exposed,” another one added.

After a brief pause, Li Chenmo suggested, “How about mixing their fertilizer with mine? That should maintain the desired effect, but you will need to avoid diluting it with too much water.”

The staff’s faces lit up at his suggestion.

“Why didn’t we think of that? Comrade Li, this is a great idea! We will discuss it with the brigade secretary. Thank you for your help!” one of them said, patting his shoulder enthusiastically.

After thanking him, they left in a hurry, leaving Li Chenmo shaking his head with a smile.

When he returned to the pig pen, only his son was there waiting for him while the rest had already returned to their houses. After storing the cart, the two walked home together.

As they entered the house, Li Chenmo noticed his wife carrying a tray of breakfast. He stepped forward and said, “Wife, let me do it.”

Lu Jueyu glanced at her husband and replied, “Husband, go wash your hands first. Breakfast is ready, and we are just waiting for you and Xiao Li.”

Hearing this, Li Chenmo didn’t insist and went to wash up, “Okay.”

In the living room, the Pan family stared wide-eyed at the breakfast spread in front of them. Noticing the amount of food, Mother Pan remarked, “Jueyu ah, there is no need to prepare so much. It would be a waste if we can’t finish it.”
