Chapter 1135: Teasing
Lu Jueyu happily praised her children, forgetting that both children had survived on their own before she adopted them. So, preparing a meal was a simple task for Dong Li and Dong Huang.

Happy to be praised by her mother, Dong Huang smiled and ran back to continue pulling out weeds, while Lu Jueyu and Li Chenmo went to the backyard to wash up.

After washing her face, Lu Jueyu came over to help her children pull out the weeds, while her husband went to the pigpen to assist Lu Han and Lu Cheng.

Due to the spiritual energy contained in the fertilizer and water, some weeds grew alongside their vegetables. As a result, they still needed to pull them out occasionally.

While they were working, the Pan family finally returned. Seeing them, Lu Jueyu asked, “Aunt Pan, Uncle Pan, Second Aunt, you are back. Have you eaten?”

“We have eaten. While we were touring the village, we ran into Xiao Guan and had a meal with him at his friend’s uncle’s house,” Mother Pan said with a smile.

Hearing this, Lu Jueyu was surprised and said, “What a coincidence! I never expected that Comrade Xiao’s friend would have a relative in this village.”

“Exactly! We didn’t expect to meet someone from the Xie family in this village either. If the people in the capital knew, they would regret not coming here,” Second Aunt said with a hint of excitement and gloating in her voice.

Hearing this, a thought crossed Lu Jueyu’s mind. She looked at the Pan family and asked, “Second Aunt, is Comrade Xiao’s friend’s relative Doctor Xie?”

“Jueyu, how did you know?” Second Aunt asked her back.

“I heard from the villagers yesterday that someone who came with the brigade secretary has the same surname as Doctor Xie. From what you just said, I guessed he might be Comrade Xiao’s friend,” Lu Jueyu explained with a smile.

Hearing her explanation, Mother Pan nodded and said, “It’s indeed Captain Xie.”

Since this matter didn’t concern her directly, Lu Jueyu only smiled and said nothing more. She was just glad that she did not offend the old man and instead stood on his good side.

Although she has her own way and will be able to gain a foothold in the capital in the future, she does not want to offend others and gain powerful enemies.

After a moment of silence, she added, “Aunt Pan, we will have dinner in three hours. You, uncle, and the second aunt can take a rest first.”

Mother Pan was a little tired, so she did not refuse her kindness and said, “Thank you, Jueyu. Then we will go back to the room first.”

“Okay,” Lu Jueyu nodded with a smile.

After a brief conversation, the Pan family returned to their room after a quick wash-up and took a nap.

Although they enjoyed Xie Village’s scenery and atmosphere, they weren’t used to the rough roads and the long distances between places. After touring the village all day, they were exhausted and soon fell asleep.

Since the Pan family would only stay for two more days, Lu Jueyu and Li Chenmo decided to let them enjoy their remaining time here.

After they finished pulling out the weeds, Lu Jueyu asked the children to rest in their rooms before she headed to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

For tonight’s meal, she decided to make steamed rice with pandan leaves, stir-fried pickled vegetables with pork, stir-fried bean sprouts with salted fish, sweet and sour spare ribs, and egg drop soup.

Thanks to the pre-prepared ingredients in her space, she saved a lot of time. When the sky darkened, she finished cooking and stepped out of the kitchen, only to see her husband washing several empty water vats in the backyard.

Seeing her approach, Li Chenmo said, “Wife, I have washed the water vats for you. You can use them once they are completely dry.”

Walking over, Lu Jueyu kissed his cheek and said, “Thank you, husband. I plan to use these vats to brew some Baijiu and fruit wine.”

Raising an eyebrow, Li Chenmo teased, “Wife, are your supplies running low?”

Understanding his implication, Lu Jueyu smiled and replied in a low voice, “Husband, although we have plenty of stock in the space, we need to make it seem like we are making these things ourselves. Otherwise, how would we explain it if people get suspicious?”

The moment he heard this, Li Chenmo realized she was referring to the Pan family. Whether or not she actually brewed the wine later didn’t matter as long as they appeared to be preparing for it.

With this thought, he chuckled and said teasingly, “My wife has finally become smarter.”

Glaring at him, Lu Jueyu retorted, “Husband, what do you mean by that? I have always been smart!”

Her words made him laugh out loud, earning him a flurry of playful punches from her. After he laughed for a while, Li Chenmo caught her fists and said, “Alright, it’s my fault. My wife is so smart, and I’m the silly one.”

Even though she knew he was only coaxing her, Lu Jueyu felt happy. Being acknowledged as smart by her genius husband was a source of pride.

Raising her chin, she declared, “Since you know your mistake, this lady won’t hold it against you. Help me bring the food to the living room. I will call the children and the others.”

Leaning down, Li Chenmo kissed her lips and replied with a smile, “This servant will obey your orders, my lady.”

Hearing his words, Lu Jueyu recalled their playful role-playing in bed before and blushed instantly. She glared at him and hurried off.

Watching her retreating figure, Li Chenmo chuckled as he headed to the kitchen to bring out the food in a good mood.

When the food was served, the Pan family and the children had just finished washing their hands and faces. Once everyone was seated, Lu Jueyu poured freshly brewed osmanthus wine to the adults.
