Chapter 1136: Willingness ( 1 )
Compared to the aged wine, the newly brewed batch was sweeter and had a lower alcohol content. It was perfect for women and children. But she didn’t want her children to have alcohol before they became adults, so she gave them honey water instead.
Raising her cup, she said, “Uncle Pan, Aunt Pan, Second Aunt, this is osmanthus wine, one of my homemade brews. Please have a try.”
After speaking, she took a sip before setting her cup down. Following her lead, the Pan family tasted the wine. As soon as they took a sip, Mother Pan and the second aunt’s eyes lit up.
Having frequented high society circles’ banquets, they had tasted imported red wines and expensive government-produced liquors. Yet, compared to this osmanthus wine, those seemed like cheap imitations.
Noticing their reactions, Lu Jueyu smiled and said, “If Aunt Pan and Second Aunt enjoy it, I still have some left in the cellar. You can take a bottle home to savor later.”
Hearing her words, the second aunt let out a chuckle and said, “Jueyu, with your social skills, you would do wonderfully among the capital’s socialites.”
Smiling at her words, Lu Jueyu replied, “Second Aunt, you are flattering me. I’m just a villager who is content with my life here with my husband and children. I have no plans to move to the capital yet.”
The Pan family exchanged surprised glances when they heard her words. Her words hinted she might not stay in the village forever. Perhaps one day, they would welcome her to the capital. With that thought, they said nothing further and began eating.
After thirty minutes, Lu Jueyu set her bowl down, wiped her lips with a handkerchief, and said, “Uncle Pan, tomorrow is the third day of my second brother’s wedding.”
“According to tradition, he and his wife should visit your family. Since visiting you in the capital isn’t possible, how about using my house for the ceremony?”
Father Pan was taken aback at her words. While he and his wife had considered this, they hadn’t brought it up out of embarrassment. Staying in the Li family’s house was already a great imposition, let alone asking to use their house for such an event. So, her offer caught them off guard.
Glancing at Li Chenmo, Father Pan asked, “Chenmo, what do you think?”
Raising his gaze, Li Chenmo replied with a smile, “Uncle Pan, I will follow my wife’s decision.”
The Pan family stared at him in shock. They had always known he cherished his wife, but his level of pampering was unexpected. It seemed as if it was Lu Jueyu who held the final say in their household.
Noticing their expressions, Dong Li shook his head and quickly finished his meal. Standing up, he said, “Mother, I have homework to do. May I leave the table first?”
Lu Jueyu smiled and said, “Go ahead. Don’t worry about the dishes, just focus on your studies.”
Dong Li nodded and said, “I understand, Mother.”
Taking his sister’s hand, he led her to their room. In truth, he had already finished his homework but wanted to give the adults space to discuss important matters. That’s why, he excused himself and his sister first.
After they entered his room, he closed the door and said, “Xiao Huang, take out your homework and finish it.”
Hearing her brother’s words, Dong Huang deflated like a frozen eggplant. She had thought she could avoid doing her homework tonight if she stayed with their parents a little longer. Unexpectedly, her brother pulled her into the room before she could say anything.
Looking at her brother, she said aggrievedly, “Brother, Xiao Huang’s hand is sore.”
Sitting in front of his desk, Dong Li glanced at his sister and replied with a sigh, “Well, if Xiao Huang’s hand is sore, then we can’t force you to do your homework.”
As soon as he said this, Dong Huang’s eyes lit up, and she asked with suppressed excitement, “Brother, can Xiao Huang skip homework then?”
“Well, if you force yourself to write, you might hurt your hand more. So, go rest now,” Dong Li nodded.
“Yay! Thank you, Brother,” Dong Huang cheered.
But before she could leave the room, Dong Li added, “Ah, Brother forgot to tell you—since your hands are sore, you shouldn’t join Brother and our cousins tomorrow. Just stay at home and rest.”
Hearing this, Dong Huang’s body stiffened. She looked at her brother and asked curiously, “Brother, where are you going tomorrow with our cousins?”
“We plan to go fishing in the mountain river. Since Xiao Huang has never been there, Brother was planning to bring you along. But your hands are sore, and it will be difficult for you to climb the mountain. So, just forget it—you stay at home,” Dong Li said with a sigh.
When Dong Huang heard this, she regretted her lie so much until it felt like her liver was in pain. She wanted to tell her brother that her hands were fine, but if she admitted the truth now, her brother would know she lied and would punish her.
If that happened, let alone going to the mountain, she might even get her buttocks spanked until they bloomed, ah!

Just thinking about the pain made her clench her buttocks. After hesitating for a long time, she finally said dejectedly, “Xiao Huang will go back to my room then.”
“Okay,” Dong Li nodded.
This time, his gaze toward his sister was not as warm as before. He wanted her to confess her lie and admit her mistake, but it seemed she would rather cling to her lie than go to the mountain.
She was smart and bold which were good traits—but if she strayed down the wrong path, this kind of personality could bring disaster to herself and those around her.
Dong Li looked at his sister, who was standing in front of him with her head lowered, and asked, “Xiao Huang, why haven’t you gone back to your room?”
