Chapter 1142: Greenhouse’s Materials
Opening the window, Li Chenmo looked at the night sky and said, “Wife, you should sleep a little longer—it’s still early.”
Sitting dazed on the bed, Lu Jueyu yawned and said, “Husband, let’s go inside first.”
As soon as she spoke, she brought them both into her space. While she went to her room and continued sleeping, Li Chenmo brushed his teeth and headed out for his morning exercises.
Four hours later, Lu Jueyu finally woke up. After washing her face, she went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. Looking out the window, she noticed her husband transporting bamboo poles and thatch from the warehouse to their yard.
She made wonton soup, vegetable spring rolls, sliced roasted duck, and scallion pancakes for today’s breakfast. Besides that, she also prepared freshly squeezed orange juice and her husband’s favorite soy milk.
After preparing breakfast, she washed her hands and went to the yard to check what her husband was doing.
In the yard, Li Chenmo was busy splitting bamboo poles. Seeing his wife approaching, he smiled and said, “Wife, you are up.”
Lu Jueyu looked at the split bamboo stacked on the side and asked curiously, “Husband, what are you doing? Are you planning to make bamboo furniture?”
“I plan to build bamboo greenhouses in the front, central, and back yards. Autumn is almost here, and we will need a way to grow fresh summer vegetables during the winter. Otherwise, it will be hard to explain where we got our summer vegetables,” Li Chenmo explained.
Hearing her husband’s words, Lu Jueyu’s eyes lit up. She nodded and praised him, “Husband, you are so clever! I thought about using straw to cover the crops in winter but never considered building greenhouses.”
“With the greenhouses, we won’t have to worry about people asking where we are getting fresh vegetables. We can also earn more money by selling them,” she added excitedly.
Seeing how happy his wife was, Li Chenmo felt his hours of hard work were worth it. He continued working while saying softly, “As long as you are happy, everything is worth it.”
Since she had nothing to do, Lu Jueyu helped her husband tie the thatch roof. The thatch roof materials were produced in the materials factory she had bought earlier. Although the thatch looked similar to what the villagers used, these were synthetic materials.
Not only were they weather-resistant, but they also required little maintenance, were eco-friendly, fire-resistant, and highly durable. Synthetic thatch roofs could last over twenty years. They were also easy to install and recyclable.
When she finished tying the thatch, her husband had completed splitting the bamboo for the walls. Wiping his sweat, Li Chenmo said, “Wife, let’s have breakfast before continuing.”
Feeling hungry, Lu Jueyu readily agreed, “Okay.”
After taking a quick shower, they sat down to eat together. Due to the heavy workload, Li Chenmo ate two bowls of wonton soup, three scallion pancakes, and a glass of soy milk.
Lu Jueyu was taken aback by her husband’s appetite. Although he usually ate a lot, he ate even more today—almost 50 wontons in total.
Even though her wontons were smaller in size compared to others, they were rich and filled with meat. Normally, an adult man would feel full after eating fifteen to twenty pieces. She only ate ten wontons and drank a glass of orange juice, yet she already felt 80% full.
When her husband finally finished eating, she asked, “Husband, you ate so much today. Won’t you feel uncomfortable later?”
Letting out a burp, Li Chenmo patted his abdomen and replied, “Wife, don’t worry. I feel fine. For some reason, I’m just really hungry today.”
Hearing this, Lu Jueyu glanced at her husband’s abdomen and noticed that his six-pack abs were as firm as usual. She knew there were two more packs hidden below, and the memory of their ‘intense night exercise’ popped into her mind. Fearing she might pounce on him, she quickly looked away.
Unaware of his wife’s thoughts, Li Chenmo stood up and started clearing the table.
After placing the dishes in the dishwasher, he said, “Wife, I plan to build four greenhouses in the front yard, four in the central yard, four in the back courtyard, and another four in the land behind the north hall. What do you think?”
Thinking about their yard’s size, Lu Jueyu suggested, “Husband, why not build two larger greenhouses instead of four? We could place one on each side of the yard, leaving room for a path.”
Li Chenmo smiled and explained, “It’s possible, but large greenhouses are harder to regulate, and we would need a big HVAC system. To avoid suspicion, we can only use small machines that are easier to hide. So, smaller or medium-sized greenhouses are better.”
Realizing her husband was right, she nodded and said, “Let’s do it your way.”
Taking a seat beside her, Li Chenmo said, “Wife, I also plan to convert the storage room near the gate into a wine cellar.”
Hearing this, Lu Jueyu nodded and replied, “Husband, we also have yards on the west and east wings. How about building greenhouses there too?”
After a moment of thought, Li Chenmo said, “In that case, we will need eleven small and seven medium-sized greenhouses, with four medium ones behind the north hall. But if we build greenhouses in the east and west yards, you won’t be able to grow flowers. Is that okay?”

Smiling at her husband’s words, Lu Jueyu replied, “Right now, food is more important. Without enough planting space, it would seem suspicious to have so many vegetables for sale in winter. When economic reform starts, we can replant flowers and redecorate our courtyard house.”
Hearing this, Li Chenmo kissed her and said, “Alright, we will do as you say.”
After reaching an agreement, they began working. While Lu Jueyu tied the thatch, Li Chenmo handled everything else.
After several hours, they had prepared enough materials for two medium-sized greenhouses. Exhausted, they bathed and took a nap.
