Male Lead's Canon Fodder Wife - Chapter 1157
Chapter 1157: A Pair Of Bandits
The doorbell was made using a fishing thread to connect the handle outside the main gate to several bells placed around the house. When guests arrived, they only needed to pull the handle to alert the people inside.
Without someone guarding the door, even if guests knocked on the main gate, those inside wouldn’t hear them. Moreover, Lu Jueyu and her husband often spent their time working in the vegetable gardens or inside the house.
Even though their five senses had improved from consuming the food and water from her space, it was still impossible for them to hear knocking on the main gate. So, Li Chenmo decided to make a simple doorbell.
After wiping her hands, Lu Jueyu went to open the gate. Her husband had already left to work on the production team’s farmland today, so she was alone at the moment.
When she reached the main gate, she called out, “Who is it?”
Waiting outside the door, Wang Muxiao heard her sister-in-law’s voice and replied, “Jueyu ah, it’s me.”
Recognizing the familiar voice, Lu Jueyu opened the door and asked in surprise, “Second Sister-in-law, Sister Liu Hua, what brought the two of you here so early? Come in quickly.”
After speaking, she reached out to support her second sister-in-law. Once they entered the yard, she closed the gate and locked it.
As they walked into the house, she asked again, “Second Sister-in-law, you are almost due. Why are you still coming here? If you need anything, just let my second brother inform me, and I can come visit you.”
Noticing the worry in her sister-in-law’s voice, Wang Muxiao smiled and said, “It’s not good to just sit or lie down at home. The doctor told me to walk every day to ensure a smooth delivery. Today, I have something to ask you, so I asked Ah Hua to accompany me to visit.”
Hearing this, Lu Jueyu looked at her sister-in-law curiously and asked, “Second Sister-in-law, what do you need my help with? If I can, I will definitely help you.”
“Let’s talk about it inside,” Wang Muxiao replied mysteriously.
Although curious, Lu Jueyu nodded and led them to the living room in the backyard. When Wang Muxiao and Liu Hua entered the room, they were still amazed by the Li family’s ancestral house.
Although this room was called a living room, during the dynasty era, it was known as an ancillary room or a side room.
The so-called north hall was originally used by the matriarch of the family as her living quarters including two ancillary rooms on the sides. Thus, this living room was located beside Lu Jueyu and her husband’s bedroom.
When Father Li’s grandfather inherited the house, he renovated the ancestral hall and restructured the small manor. Not only did he expand the west and east wings, but he also purchased the land surrounding the house and added a large yard behind the north hall.
Now, the ones who benefited most from the manor’s expansion were Lu Jueyu and her husband. Indeed, the ancestors plant trees, and the next generations enjoy the shade.
After they took their seats, Lu Jueyu poured them cups of honey water and asked, “Second Sister-in-law, can you tell me what you need from me now?”
Wang Muxiao took a sip of honey water before pulling a thick envelope from her clothes.
She placed it on the table and explained, “Jueyu ah, I want to ask you to keep this money safe for me. Your brother did a side business and earned some money. Together with my earnings from selling snacks, I managed to save 200,000 yuan.”
As soon as she finished speaking, both Lu Jueyu and Liu Hua were stunned.
Unlike Liu Hua, who stared at her friend in shock, Lu Jueyu quickly recovered and nodded. She took the envelope and replied, “Since my Second Sister-in-law trusts me, I will go get paper and a pen to write an agreement. Please wait a moment.”
After speaking, she went to her bedroom to fetch the items.
When they were alone, Liu Hua held her friend’s hand and asked in a low voice, “Ah Xiao, did your husband do anything dangerous?”
Wang Muxiao smiled when she noticed her friend’s worries. Seeing the money, Liu Hua didn’t feel jealous or greedy. Instead, she worried that Lu Cheng might be involved in something risky that might have harmed her. Without Liu Hua voicing her thoughts, Wang Muxiao understood her concerns.
Patting her friend’s hand lightly, she shook her head and replied, “My husband invested money in a friend’s business, but he is not directly involved. He won’t face any danger. Don’t worry, Ah Hua.”
Hearing this, Liu Hua let out a sigh of relief and said, “As long as the Brother-in-law isn’t doing anything dangerous, that is good. If something happened to him, what would you and the children do?”
“He wouldn’t dare. I already warned him yesterday. If he tries anything risky, I will pack my clothes and take my children to my parents’ house,” Wang Muxiao said firmly.
Nodding at her friend’s words, Liu Hua clenched her small fists and added, “If he dares to put you and the children in danger, I will beat him!”
Patting her friend’s shoulder, Wang Muxiao nodded and said gallantly, “Good sister!”

Afterward, they looked at each other and laughed heartily like a pair of bandits.
When Lu Jueyu returned, she saw the scene and was speechless at her second sister-in-law and Liu Hua’s antics. She let out two small coughs to remind them that she was here before taking her seat.
Placing the paper on the table, she wrote an agreement similar to one she had made before. After reading it aloud to them, she signed her name and stamped her thumbprint in red ink.
Although Wang Muxiao couldn’t read, she trusted her sister-in-law and stamped her thumbprint without hesitation. Once the handover was complete, the sound of bells echoed through the house.
Startled by the crisp sound, Liu Hua asked, “Where is this bell sound coming?”
