Chapter 1172: You Were Too Rough
Noticing his wife’s absent-mindedness, Li Chenmo assumed she was still tired and asked softly, “Wife, what’s wrong?”

Snapping back to reality, Lu Jueyu quickly shook her head and replied with flushed cheeks, “Nothing.”

Hearing this, Li Chenmo kissed her again before heading off to get dressed. Once he was ready, Lu Jueyu led them out of her space, and reappeared in their bedroom.

Thinking she had slept enough, Lu Jueyu decided to read a book. To her surprise, she felt drowsy not long after reading several pages and unknowingly fell asleep again.

Seeing this, Li Chenmo gently took the book from her hands and placed it in the drawer. Then, he lay down beside her, pulling her into his embrace as he joined her in sleep.

After seeing his wife fall asleep easily, he was even more sure that their baby was here and slept with a smile.

Early the next morning, Lu Jueyu woke up before dawn. Unlike usual, she didn’t get out of bed but snuggled into her husband’s embrace with her back against him. Feeling the warmth radiating from his body, she reflected on how she had been feeling more sluggish lately.

Perhaps she needed to increase her exercise routine to build strength and reduce her constant fatigue. As her thoughts drifted, she unknowingly fell back asleep.

Half an hour later, Li Chenmo woke up. Under normal circumstances, the spot beside him would already be empty by this time, but today, he felt the soft body of his wife nestled against his chest.

Lowering his gaze, he saw her sleeping soundly. Looking at her peaceful expression brought a gentle smile to his face. Thinking about the possibility of having their baby at this moment, he placed his broad hand over her flat belly gently.

His hand lingered on her belly for a moment before he decided to start his day. He adjusted her sleeping posture and covered her body with a thin blanket. Leaning down, he kissed her forehead lightly before leaving the room.

When he walked into the backyard, he saw Dong Li washing his face near the pond.

“Xiao Li, why are you up so early?” Li Chenmo asked.

“Good morning, Father. I couldn’t sleep, so I came out,” Dong Li replied.

Though the father and son were close and have a good relationship, they both preferred to keep conversations brief. After exchanging a few words, they each went to do their own things.

While Li Chenmo washed up, Dong Li went to the kitchen to boil water before heading to the chicken coop to collect eggs, refill the water, and fill the feed for the chickens.

After Li Chenmo went to the pig pen, Dong Li went to water the plants and harvest the vegetables. Knowing that his mother planned to build greenhouses and change the crops, he harvested all the vegetables that were ripe and left the unripe crops to ripen before he harvested them another day.

As the sun rose over the eastern horizon, Dong Huang walked into the backyard while rubbing her sleepy eyes. Noticing her brother was already working while her mother was nowhere in sight, she yawned and asked, “Brother, where is Mother?”

Hearing his sister’s voice, Dong Li stopped what he was doing and replied, “Mother is still sleeping. Brother boiled some water for you. Go wash your face first.”

Dong Huang nodded and headed to wash up without asking anymore questions. She knew how hard their mother worked and understood her need for rest. After cleaning up, she returned to the garden to help her brother harvest vegetables.

When Lu Jueyu finally woke up, she was startled to see how bright the sky was outside the window. Sitting up hastily, she was suddenly feeling dizzy and nauseous. Closing her eyes, she waited for the uncomfortable feelings to pass before getting out of bed.

Blaming her low blood sugar for the discomfort, she didn’t dwell on her dizziness and nausea. After tidying herself up, she went to the backyard. The moment she reached the backyard, she saw her children already harvesting almost all of the ripened vegetables.

As soon as Dong Huang spotted her, she hurried over and asked worriedly, “Mother, are you still tired?”

Although she still felt a bit dizzy, Lu Jueyu felt much better. So, she shook her head and replied, “Mother is fine. Thank you for helping with the vegetables, Xiao Huang.”

Noticing her mother’s pale complexion, Dong Huang suggested, “Mother, why don’t you rest today? Brother and I can make breakfast today.”

Touched by her daughter’s thoughtfulness, Lu Jueyu smiled but gently refused, “No need for that. You go help your brother.”

Since her mother already said so, Dong Huang returned to help Dong Li move the baskets of vegetables to the warehouse.

In the kitchen, Lu Jueyu entered her space to wash her face. Feeling refreshed after washing up, she left her space and reappeared in the kitchen before she began preparing breakfast.

She took out a basket of steamed buns to heat in the steamer, a pot of egg porridge to simmer over the brazier, and some uncooked Guotie to fry from her space.

For her children’s lunches and snacks, she took out Roujiamo, walnut cookies, water chestnut cake, and vegetable spring rolls from her space. She also infused water with fresh lemon slices for them to take along.

Just as she finished wrapping the lunch for her children, she heard her husband call from outside, “Xiao Li, has your mother woken up?”

“Mother is in the kitchen,” Dong Li replied.

Moments later, Li Chenmo entered the kitchen, and asked his wife with concern written on his face, “Wife, how are you feeling? Are you still unwell?”

Although she didn’t understand why he was worried, Lu Jueyu reassured him, “Husband, I’m fine.”

Then, lowering her voice, she complained with a pout, “If you are so worried, maybe you should be gentler next time. You were too rough last night.”

Caught off guard by his wife’s directness, Li Chenmo blinked in confusion before the memory of their passionate moment flashed in his mind. A faint blush crept to his ears as he felt his body become hot.
