Chapter 1202: No Fever
While Lu Jueyu was lost in thought, Li Chenmo woke up. When he opened his eyes, he saw his wife staring at her abdomen in a daze. Thinking she was feeling nauseous again, he moved his palm gently.

Sitting up, he pulled her into his arms and asked hoarsely, “Wife, what’s wrong?”

Coming back to her senses, Lu Jueyu said, “Husband, I think I might be pregnant.”

When Li Chenmo heard this, he let out a hum and said, “Wife, let’s go to the hospital for a check-up.”

Seeing how calm her husband was, Lu Jueyu asked, “Husband, did you already guess it?”

Kissing the top of her head, Li Chenmo replied, “Mhmm. I noticed you haven’t been feeling well and paid more attention to your symptoms. After observing for a few days, I realized you might be pregnant when I calculated your cycle.”

It wasn’t strange for her husband to keep track of her cycle—he had always been like this, even in their previous life. So, she asked again, “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I wasn’t sure and didn’t want to get your hopes up for nothing. But now that you have noticed too, it’s better for us to confirm it with a check-up,” Li Chenmo said.

After thinking for a moment, Lu Jueyu nodded, “Okay.”

After hugging her for a while, Li Chenmo said, “Wife, you should sleep more.”

Feeling sleepy, Lu Jueyu didn’t insist on getting up. She nodded, lay back down, and soon drifted off to sleep.

Before leaving the room, Li Chenmo covered her with a thin blanket and kissed her lightly. When he stepped out, he saw his son was already awake.

Seeing his father, Dong Li rubbed his eyes and greeted him, “Good morning, Father.”

“Good morning.”

The two of them went to the backyard to wash up. After brushing his teeth, Li Chenmo said, “Today, Father will be taking your mother to the hospital for a check-up. If we are back late, go to your grandpa’s house with your sister for lunch.”

Hearing this, Dong Li asked, “Father, what’s wrong with Mother?”

Not wanting his son to worry, Li Chenmo replied, “Your mother might be pregnant.”

Dong Li’s eyes lit up with joy as he asked, “Father, is Mother really pregnant? I will have a younger sibling?”

Seeing his son’s happiness, Li Chenmo felt his own joy and anticipation grow. He had known Dong Li wouldn’t feel jealous or unhappy, but he hadn’t expected him to be even happier than he was when he found out about this matter.

Patting his shoulder lightly, he said, “There is a high possibility, but we need to confirm it with a test. Don’t tell Xiao Huang yet.”

Nodding eagerly, Dong Li said, “I will listen to you, Father.”

“Good.”

After their brief chat, they went about their morning chores. While Li Chenmo went to the pigpen, Dong Li watered the garden plots.

Knowing his mother might be pregnant, Dong Li decided to take over the household chores to prevent her from lifting heavy things or overworking. He remembered his father once telling him that such activities were dangerous for pregnant women and could lead to a miscarriage.

Just thinking about having a cute little sister or an obedient little brother lifted his mood. He wondered if the baby would look like his handsome father or his beautiful mother. No matter who the baby took after, he vowed to protect them.

When Dong Huang woke up, she noticed her usually calm brother grinning like a fool. Worried, she trotted over and tugged at his sleeve.

Feeling the tug, Dong Li bent down and asked, “Xiao Huang, what’s wrong?”

Dong Huang placed the back of her hand on his forehead and murmured, “No fever.”

Dong Li’s smile froze when he heard her words. He pulled her hand down and asked helplessly, “Xiao Huang, what are you doing?”

Looking at him with concern, Dong Huang said, “Brother, you were grinning like a fool alone and looked strange. What happened to you?”

Dong Li almost blurted out the news of their mother’s pregnancy but stopped himself, remembering his father’s words. Instead, he said, “I’m just happy, not sick.”

Observing her brother, Dong Huang asked curiously, “Brother, what made you so happy?”

“There is good news, but we will have to wait to confirm it,” Dong Li replied mysteriously.

Though curious, Dong Huang didn’t press further and went to wash up. Afterward, she helped her brother prepare breakfast. Their vegetable garden had already been harvested, so they only needed to water the plots.

For breakfast, Dong Li made egg and vegetable porridge, scallion pancakes, steamed eggs, and steamed buns. His mother had personally taught him to cook, sharing her tips and experience. As a result, his cooking skills surpassed those of many women in their village. Despite the simple menu, the dishes were delicious.

Since his parents would be going to the county town, Dong Li prepared extra steamed buns and scallion pancakes, which were easy to carry and eat. They could also eat it as lunch at school.

When breakfast was ready, Li Chenmo returned from the pigpen. After he washed off the dirt on his body, he walked into the kitchen and saw Dong Huang extinguishing the fire while Dong Li cleaned up the kitchen.

Glancing at the breakfast on the kitchen table, he asked, “Is your mother awake?”

Hearing her father’s words, Dong Huang replied, “Father, Mother is still sleeping.”

Nodding at her, Li Chenmo said, “Xiao Huang, go wake your mother.”

Glancing at the brightened sky, Dong Huang nodded and ran to wake her mother. Meanwhile, Li Chenmo and Dong Li carried the breakfast to the living room.

Before entering the bedroom, Dong Huang raised her hand and knocked on the door. Her mother had taught her to always knock and ask for permission before entering.

“Mother, can I come in?” she asked.

After waiting for a few seconds, she added, “Mother, I’m coming in now.”

With that, she opened the door and walked into the room. Although it wasn’t her first time entering her parents’ bedroom, she was still amazed by how beautiful it was.
