Chapter 1203: Polite Yet Distant
Dong Huang opened the door and walked into the room. Although it wasn’t her first time entering her parents’ bedroom, she was still amazed by how beautiful it was.

Her own bedroom was also lovely, but the decoration and furniture in her parents’ room gave off an elegant feeling. After admiring the room for a moment, she slowly walked to the Kang bed and gently patted her mother’s arm.

“Mother, the sun is up,” she whispered.

After a few soft calls, she noticed her mother’s eyelashes trembling slightly. She loved her mother dearly, not only because she was beautiful but also because she was kind and always treated her so well.

Seeing her mother waking up in a daze, Dong Huang giggled and leaned forward. She kissed her mother’s cheek and said, “Good morning, Mother.”

Feeling the soft touch on her cheek, Lu Jueyu turned her head and saw her daughter smiling at her. She reached out to pat her head and replied hoarsely, “Good morning, Xiao Huang.”

“Mother, let’s have breakfast together,” Dong Huang said as she helped her mother sit up.

Lu Jueyu sat on the bed for a moment before heading to tidy herself up. Five minutes later, the two walked out of the room together. When she saw the breakfast spread on the table and her son standing nearby, she said, “Xiao Li, thank you for your hard work.”

“Good morning, Mother,” Dong Li greeted her.

Then, with enthusiasm, he added, “Mother, I will take over the cooking from now on. You should rest more and not overwork yourself.”

Looking at her eager son, Lu Jueyu didn’t refuse. She nodded and said, “Okay.”

When she stepped into the backyard, she saw her husband pouring hot water into her wash basin. She walked over and said, “Husband, I don’t need hot water.”

“Be good. Don’t use cold water,” Li Chenmo coaxed.

After a moment of hesitation, Lu Jueyu sighed softly and said, “Okay.”

Once she was done washing up, the family sat down to have breakfast together. Before the children left for school, Lu Jueyu packed some banana chips and apple chips for them.

Li Chenmo packed some scallion pancakes and steamed buns into a bamboo basket. He needed it as a cover so his wife could discreetly take out items from her space. After locking the doors, the two of them left on a bicycle.

Since his wife might be pregnant, Li Chenmo rode the bicycle slowly and carefully. The road was bumpy, but he managed to make the trip comfortable.

Sitting in the back seat, Lu Jueyu circled her arms around her husband’s waist and leaned against his back. Feeling the gentle breeze on her skin, she grew sleepy. Although she knew it was dangerous to sleep while sitting on a bicycle, she couldn’t help but want to close her eyes.

Noticing his wife’s arms slowly loosening, Li Chenmo stopped the bicycle and turned around. Seeing her dozing off, he patted her arm lightly and said, “Wife, you can’t sleep while riding, it’s dangerous.”

Opening her eyes, Lu Jueyu looked at her husband and said softly, “Husband, I’m so sleepy.”

Seeing her teary eyes, Li Chenmo’s heart softened. After thinking for a moment, he said, “Wife, give me a scarf.”

When she heard this, Lu Jueyu looked around. After confirming that no one was around beside them, she took out a scarf from her space and handed it to him.

Li Chenmo took the scarf and said, “Wife, you sit in the front.”

Even though she didn’t know what her husband intended to do, Lu Jueyu still did as he said. The moment she sat in the front seat, her husband sat in the back seat. Due to his height, he was still taller than her even when he sat behind.

“Sit sideways,” Li Chenmo instructed.

Lu Jueyu adjusted her sitting position and saw her husband use the scarf to tie her to his body. Realizing what he was doing, she blushed instantly. She looked at him and said, “Husband, this is inappropriate.”

After securing the scarf, Li Chenmo held the back of her neck and said, “Just lean on me and take a nap. Before we reach the county town, I will wake you up.”

Feeling dizzy from sleepiness, Lu Jueyu didn’t argue. She leaned into his embrace and hugged his waist.

Glancing at his obedient wife, Li Chenmo smiled and said, “We are going.”

“Mn,” Lu Jueyu nodded.

As he pedaled the bicycle slowly, Li Chenmo felt the weight of his wife leaning against him completely. Not long after, he heard her soft snoring and even breathing.

Although this way of riding was tiring, it was worth it. His wife was carrying his baby, and he would do everything he could to ease her discomfort.

It took them three hours to reach the county town. Before entering the town, Li Chenmo rubbed his wife’s back and whispered, “Wife, wake up. We are here.”

After a moment, Lu Jueyu opened her eyes groggily. Looking around, she noticed they had stopped outside the town. While she was still in a daze, Li Chenmo untied the scarf and asked, “Wife, how are you feeling?”

Rubbing her eyes, Lu Jueyu replied, “Husband, I feel much better.”

Hearing this, Li Chenmo felt relieved and said, “Let’s change seats.”

After they changed seats, Lu Jueyu stored the scarf in her space, using the bamboo basket as a cover. Forty minutes later, the two finally reached the county town hospital. They parked the bicycle and walked into the lobby.

Li Chenmo led his wife to a bench and said, “Wife, you wait here. I will register first.”

“Okay,” Lu Jueyu nodded.

While her husband waited in line, she looked around and saw Houzi talking with a girl wearing a white coat.

She was surprised to see him at the hospital and even more surprised by the genuine smile on his face. From the moment she knew him, he was always smiling, but it was a business smile—polite yet distant.
