“I am her mother! She must be filial to me and obey my wishes!” Mother Shi insisted after she heard Liu Fuyan’s words.

Hearing this, Liu Fuyan burst out laughing before she replied, “What a joke! All these years, my mother has sent you money, food, meat, and every good thing she had. Yet, when she was in confinement after giving birth to her children, you didn’t even visit her, let alone take care of her!”

“Not only that, but whenever we came to visit, you always scolded and beat her. You gave all the best things to your sons and their children while making my mother and I do all the housework.”

“Even though my father was the one who bought the meat, you wouldn’t let us have a single bite. You always say that married daughters are like splashed water, and we are outsiders in your family.”

“If we are talking about being unfilial, I think your sons and their families are the real unfilial ones! My mother has done everything expected of a married daughter. She even did more than she should have.”

“Now that she is divorced and has returned home, you didn’t offer her any help or comfort. Grandmother, you are truly a good mother ah!” she said with a sneer.

Hearing her words, the crowd exchanged glances, but no one spoke in Mother Shi’s defense. Everyone in the village knew how filial Shi Qiwan had been toward her natal family. She had always prioritized her maternal family, and that was why she had been divorced by her husband.

Shi Qiwan shook her head and replied, “I didn’t! I would never agree to marry you!”

Shi Dalang panicked but had no intention of admitting anything. There was no way he would give back money that had already entered his pocket!

As soon as he said this, both the old man and Shi Dalang shouted in unison, “No!”

Raising his eyebrows, Chen Jianmin shrugged and continued, “Since neither of you wants this to be reported, how about we just forget about the wedding?”

“Uncle Shi, return the money to this grandpa, and Grandpa, you can just go back,” he suggested.

Hearing this, both of them were reluctant to give up.

While the two hesitated, Liu Fuyan took her mother’s hand and said, “Mother, let’s go report them.”

This time, she didn’t give them a chance to react. She simply turned and left with her mother. Seeing this, Dong Li grabbed his sister’s hand and followed after them.
