Early the next morning, before dawn, Wang Muxiao was suddenly woken up by a sharp pain in her stomach. Gasping, she took a deep breath and opened her eyes.

Pushing her husband’s arm, she said hoarsely, “Husband—wake up.”

The moment he felt the push, Lu Cheng woke up instantly. Opening his eyes, he saw his wife’s pale face was covered with sweat. He sat up immediately and asked, “Wife, what’s wrong? Are you having a cramp again?”

As the pain lessened, Wang Muxiao took several deep breaths before saying, “Husband, bring our daughter to Eldest Sister-in-law. I think I’m going into labor.”

As soon as he heard this, Lu Cheng’s eyes widened. He quickly climbed out of the Kang bed, put on his shoes, and went to get the small blanket. While wrapping their daughter in the blanket, he asked, “Wife, can you bear the pain?”

Wang Muxiao nodded and said, “It’s not yet time. Go inform Mother and borrow the bicycle from Brother-in-law.”

Lu Cheng heard his wife’s words and said, “Okay. Wait for a while, I will be right back.”

Leaning on the pillow, Wang Muxiao nodded and closed her eyes as another wave of pain hit her. Watching her husband’s hurried figure, she couldn’t help but remind him, “Don’t rush—be careful on the road.”

Before she finished speaking, Lu Cheng was already running toward his eldest brother’s house, knocking rapidly and loudly on the door.

Feeling the cold wind, he tightened the blanket around his daughter and knocked again.

Not long after, he finally heard his brother’s voice. “Who is it?”

“Brother, it’s me. Hurry up and open the door!” Lu Cheng said impatiently.

Hearing that it was his younger brother, Lu Han quickly opened the door. When he saw Lu Cheng holding his niece, he reached out and asked, “Is your wife going into labor?”

Lu Cheng handed his daughter to his brother and said, “Not yet, but I need to borrow a bicycle from Jueyu. Brother, help me inform our parents.”

Noticing his panic, Lu Han nodded and said, “Be careful on the road.”

“I know,” Lu Cheng replied as he ran outside.

After he left, Lu Han carried his niece into the house. When he entered his room, he saw his wife sitting on the bed, getting dressed.

“Husband, I will go cook something for my sister-in-law,” Chen Anwen said while braiding her hair.

Lu Han nodded and said, “Alright, I will inform Father and Mother.”

Twenty minutes later, Lu Jueyu was awakened by the sound of bells ringing. Startled, she opened her eyes and checked the clock on the table.

“Husband, someone is coming,” she said, patting her husband’s back.

Li Chenmo woke up groggily at her touch. He opened his eyes and said, “I will go check.”

“Mhmm,” Lu Jueyu hummed, turned around, and went back to sleep.

Li Chenmo sat on the edge of the bed for a moment before heading to the gate. It was three o’clock in the morning. Whoever was coming at this hour must have urgent business.

When he reached the gate, he asked, “Who is it?”

“Brother-in-law, it’s me, Lu Cheng.”

Hearing this, Li Chenmo opened the gate and asked, “Second Brother-in-law, what brought you here so early? Did something happen at home?”

“Brother-in-law, I came to borrow your bicycle. My wife is going into labor,” Lu Cheng said.

The moment he heard this, Li Chenmo stepped aside and said, “Second Brother-in-law, come in.”

After closing the gate, he led Lu Cheng to the woodshed and said, “Second Brother-in-law, I will attach the cart. Let your wife sit on it—it will be more comfortable.”

“Alright, thank you, Brother-in-law,” Lu Cheng nodded.

Li Chenmo worked quickly, securing the cart to the bicycle, placing several cushions on it and covering it with a waterproof mat. Afterward, he said, “Second Brother-in-law, please wait a moment.”

Although Lu Cheng didn’t know why he asked him to wait, he still nodded and waited anxiously.

Not long after, Li Chenmo returned with a small jar. He handed it to Lu Cheng and said, “Second Brother-in-law, this is ginseng powder. Mix it with warm water and let your wife drink it. It will help her regain energy.”

Hearing this, Lu Cheng accepted the jar and said, “Thank you, Brother-in-law. I’m leaving now.”

“Okay.”

After sending him off, Li Chenmo locked the gate and returned to the room. He took off his shoes and lay beside his wife. Seeing her sleeping face, he decided not to wake her.

With the Lu family taking care of Wang Muxiao and the ginseng powder, there wouldn’t be any problems.

After all, that jar of ginseng powder was mixed with spiritual herb powder. No matter how bad her situation was, after drinking it, everything would be fine.

While the two of them slept, Father and Mother Lu had already woken up. With Mother Lu accompanying Wang Muxiao at her house, Chen Anwen and Lu Han were cooking egg porridge and preparing breakfast in the kitchen.

Since Wang Muxiao was having twins, they decided to go to the hospital as well. As for the children, Father Lu would take care of them.

Not long after breakfast was ready, Lu Cheng returned. He parked the bicycle outside his house and ran inside. His forehead and back were drenched with cold sweat, and his face was pale.

The moment he entered the house, he shouted, “Wife, I’m back. How are you feeling?”

Hearing her son’s shout, Mother Lu turned and said, “Stop shouting. Your wife is fine.”

Seeing his mother, Lu Cheng calmed down and greeted her, “Mother.”

Then, he walked to the bed and held his wife’s hand. “Xiaoxiao—how are you?”

As a wave of pain faded, Wang Muxiao looked at her husband and said, “Husband, don’t worry, I’m fine.”

“Wife, I borrowed the bicycle. Let’s go to the hospital now,” Lu Cheng said as he wiped the sweat from his wife’s forehead.

“Let your wife eat something first before you go to the hospital,” Mother Lu said.
