Chapter 1461: Surprise After Surprise ( 3 )
At the same time, Zhang Guo had just completed a 50-kilometer marathon through the forest and returned to the barracks with his comrades. Before he could even take a shower, he heard the announcement.

“Xiao Zhang, go see what package you received,” one of the soldiers called out.

Scratching his head, Zhang Guo replied with confusion, “My mother just sent me a package a few days ago, so it can’t be from my family. Who would send me something now?”

Hearing his words, another soldier chuckled and said, “Just go check. You will know when you see the sender’s name.”

Letting out an “Oh,” Zhang Guo stored his equipment and made his way to the administrative building.

When he arrived, still covered in dust and dirt, the staff looked up and said with a smile,. “Comrade Zhang, you can take a shower first and come back later.”

“I heard the announcement and thought it was urgent, so I came right away,” Zhang Guo replied. “Comrade, where is my package?”

The staff member stood up from his seat and said, “Please follow me.”

Seeing that his package wasn’t stored in the office, Zhang Guo became even more confused. Usually, he only received small parcels, some dried meat or pickled vegetables from his mother. This was the first time he was being led to the temporary warehouse.

The staff pulled out a bunch of keys, unlocked the door, and said, “Comrade Zhang, your packages are stored here.”

“Packages?” Zhang Guo asked, bewildered.

The staff nodded and replied, “Yes. Today, you received a total of 167 packages.”

He turned on the light and added, “Do you need help transporting them?”

Standing in the doorway, Zhang Guo stared in shock at the piles of sacks and boxes inside. He pointed and asked for confirmation, “Comrade, all of those are mine?”

“Yes. Once you move them, you will need to sign the delivery receipt.”

Zhang Guo was speechless for a moment before stepping inside to check. Out of curiosity, he opened the nearest sack and immediately inhaled sharply. Inside was plump, white rice.

Noticing his reaction, the staff walked over. “Comrade, what’s wrong?”

When he caught sight of the rice, the staff was stunned and said, “Comrade Zhang… this is white rice.”

Zhang Guo nodded slowly and asked, “Comrade, who sent all this?”

Snapping out of his shock, the staff replied, “Someone named Lu Jueyu.”

At that moment, a beautiful face flashed through Zhang Guo’s mind. He had only met her a few times, but he still remembered the taste of the food and snacks she had given him when he left Xie Village.

While surprised, he was more confused. He muttered, “Why would my sister-in-law suddenly send me rice?”

The staff shrugged and said, “If you don’t know, how would anyone else?”

Still stunned, Zhang Guo and the staff began inspecting all the packages. Half an hour later, the two stood in front of the opened sacks and boxes, exchanging glances.

There were 150 sacks, each weighing 50 kilograms, 100 sacks of white rice and 50 sacks of all-purpose flour. Inside the boxes were various other items.

Each of the cured meat and sausage boxes weighed 200 kilograms, with two of each. There were also two boxes of dried mushrooms, each weighing 20 kilograms. In addition, there were 10 boxes of dried vegetables, 50 kilograms each.

But the most precious cargo was a box of wound ointment. Inside were 100 jars, neatly stacked and cushioned with a lot of cotton and fabric to prevent breakage. From their size, each jar seemed to hold about 500 ml.

It took them a while to recover from the shock. The staff finally asked, “Comrade Zhang, what do you plan to do with all this?”

Zhang Guo swallowed and asked him back, “Comrade, can I borrow the phone?”

Sensing the seriousness of the situation, the staff nodded and agreed, “Of course.”

They quickly returned to the office, and Zhang Guo made a call. After a short wait, a male voice answered. “Hello.”

“Hello, Comrade. My name is Zhang Guo. I’m looking for Li Chenmo. Can you inform him? I will call back in thirty minutes.”

The man on the other end, Han Jinhe, checked the notes on his desk and asked, “Comrade Zhang, are you calling from the military barracks?”

“Yes, I am.”

“Comrade Li said if you ever called, I could pass along a message.”

“What message?” Zhang Guo asked.

Reading from the notes, Han Jinhe said, “The packages are to be shared with everyone. The cotton and fabric were prepared by your sister-in-law, keep those and make winter clothes. The rest, you can distribute as you see fit.”

After a brief pause, he added, “Do you have a message for Comrade Li?”

Zhang Guo, touched by his captain and his sister-in-law’s generosity, replied hoarsely, “Please thank my Captain and my sister-in-law for me. When I have vacation, I will visit them.”

“Understood,” Han Jinhe said, writing down the message.

Knowing how costly the call was, Zhang Guo hung up after expressing his gratitude.

“How did it go?” the staff asked.

Wiping a tear from the corner of his eye, Zhang Guo said, “These supplies were sent by Captain Li Chenmo for everyone. I will keep some, and the rest will be shared with our brothers.”

The staff stared at him, stunned. After a moment, he asked, “Are you sure? They are addressed to you.”

Zhang Guo nodded and replied firmly, “My Captain gave the order. I’m just following his arrangement.”

With that, he returned to the warehouse and started sorting. He took the cotton and fabric, leaving the rest. Then, he picked out two jars of ointment, a kilogram of dried mushrooms, two kilograms of dried vegetables, a slab of cured meat, and a string of sausage.

“Comrade, please help me deliver the rest to the cafeteria and infirmary,” he said.

The staff was dumbfounded by his generosity, and asked, “Aren’t you taking any of the grains or flour?”
