“Husband, take this with you. You haven’t had dinner yet, just eat when you’re hungry.” Zhang Dongmei said as she handed him a few pancakes wrapped in oil paper and a bottle of water.

Li Chenze lowered his head and saw his wife placing thirty yuan and several food stamps in his palm beside the food and water. Before he could refuse, he heard his wife say, “Just in case. You might need money when you go out.”

He held the money, nodded, and said, “You should go back. The children are still at your parents’ house. We can’t disturb them for too long.”

“Alright, I’ll go back in a while. You must be careful on the road.” Zhang Dongmei nodded.

Li Chenze nodded at her, turned to look at Father Li, and said, “Father, I will come back as soon as possible.”

After Li Chenze said this, he left the hospital and went to find Jiao Siyu’s family. The Jiao family lives in the county town since their registered residence is here. Father Jiao, Li Chenxuan, and Jiao Siyu work in the same factory, while Mother Jiao is a full-time housewife. As for Jiao Siyu’s brothers, they work in another city.

Although their salary is only about 20 to 30 yuan per month, most of their family members work in factories. Therefore, they always look down on rural people. They even call themselves city dwellers and are very proud of their identities.

Li Chenze only came to Jiao’s house twice when his second brother proposed and got married. After two visits, he never visited his second brother’s in-laws again. But because Mother Jiao felt that the house was too small and it was too cramped for so many people to live together, Li Chenxuan and Jiao Siyu were told to move to another place.
